Thats what i was hoping was going to happen. Not just have it to forum people, but the entire EU community over the two english speaking servers.
Since we can transfer influence from union to defiant much easier now, i wouldnt mind at all creating an alt or two on defiant purely for the GR supergroup defiant edition.
Personally i think a supergroup base with elements of all styles of play in it would be both a huge challenge for base designers and also [hopefully] look VERY stylish! Hopefully supergroups wont be that much of a difference in GR, but if we have people who mostly play villainside and people who mostly play heroside, then the transition would be so easy!
Events is a defo for the supergroup though -
When i17 went live i had to manually change my graphics settings on the individual bars to stop the lagging that was constant [even though the settings were exactly the same as before i17 it only worked when i changed it to something else, then used the manual change to change it back].
Now with this patch i had to do the exact same thing. Is it something wrong with my pc? Connection is fine btw. -
Quote:The NA version had the new link 2 days ago. We got ours today after the patch.
Today the US updater had an update to include the dev diary, the EU didn't.
This is another example of the difference in marketing and support between the 2 continents. -

Quote:While it might sound weird to devote an SG to sexual preference...
The fact is that heterosexuals flaunt it flamboyantly quite often. It's just not noticed because it is considered the default behavior.
I got to agree with the posts i made 55 years ago at the start of this thread. I have gay/bi/lesbian friends and the large majority of them are what you'ld call normal and have zero problem with people who are either GBL.
What i find a bit wierd are people who make it so obvious that they're trying to rub it in your face that they are. I just cant see WHY somebody would change their personality to match their sexuality. When i go to town i dont try and make a point to every girl i meet by going "im straight dont worry" [though i have had to prove it to one girl once], so i dont see why others feel a need to make everybody know about it.
If you ask me it makes them seem like attention seekers if they act like that, just act your normal self and people will like you for your personality. These days especially, sexuality has become so widespread accepted that its not really even an issue.
Another mini serious rant by damz -
My friend who i used to work with used to always go on about this game, saying how awesome it was and everyday saying what he acheived in it. One day then after popping in to my local game store, i saw it on the shelf and thought why not at least try it for a month. 57 months later . . . . im happy i picked it up
I've always thought of myself as a non serious gamer, but this game has become the only technical item that i have that i make an effort onHave had many great memories from playing this game, not the least meeting the most random and funniest people i know ingame!
People like rapthorn, yellow cat, LB, magma man, euro girl and abigail made the game very enjoyable and hookable for meEven though the supergroup went completely downhill, it was probs the best supergroup i had EVER been in [and only one to be honest that was enjoyable and made me want to log in purely to see whats going on].
Was pure luck what brought us all together. I was on one night in atlas on a very mad hyper mood, got invited to the sg as one of the first members and started advertising for the supergroup with a different recruitment drive every day [as we all hate the same boring generic ones you hear "hi come join ****, we're number ** in the top 100!"] and quickly got voted by fellow members of the supergroup to be in charge of events for the supergroup
While none of us were great pvpers, we all enjoyed it and once a week had a supergroup low level [think it was level 15] pvp event with the winner each week being the "champion of the supergroup" as such, regular costume competitions and regular team runs. But the thing that made it the most enjoyable? Was all of us were constantly in contact with eachother ingame, every new member got made to feel welcome and was encouraged to be active. Now by active we dont mean collect prestige, since again we strongly believed it was up to the "main members" of the supergroup to keep the base payment up, but we mean by teaming together, talking with eachother and just generally being part of a great community. It very quickly felt like a small family and one that i really wish i could try and recreate, a supergroup that is made for fun . . . . . not to rank in the prestige and such.
As time has gone on and after a huge supergroup argument errupted which made most of the main members leave on a temp basis, i made new friends such as soul storm, coolio, gabrielle thornton, jay, sophie and many more and a new era begun for me. Now again this next story happened just by chance but it became legendary in the minds of everybody who took part in it, still get PMs now about it to get it up and running again! What am i talking about? Well its . . . .
The Cruise! One night while again i was on a hyper, i decided to make a chilled out surfer character. Had sandals, shorts, backwards cap and the prestige slide to look as if he was surfing on the water, it looked great! Plus i used the power quicksand to create an effect like i was on a beach. Well anyway i was drumming in atlas one night and started chatting in local randomly about chilling out and saying to passers to come "join the cruise!!!". Some people joined and everybody started talking and having a laugh and before we knew it, we had all been talking nonstop [and i mean nonstop] for a good 6 hours!!! We were all shocked, but we had so much fun we said that "the cruise" should stop again in atlas same time tomoz. Well it did, we had MORE passers join to make it even bigger and started doing fun little events! Like getting a mini atlas band going with each of us having a role [like drummers, dancers, singers etc], screenies of all of us fishing, costume contests and just more laughs! We all turned up the same time every night for a whole week with everyday getting more and more people joiningDidnt want to spoil a good thing so for about 2 months, once a week we all turned up and took over atlas! Was the first time i met some good friends that too! Random moment which turned out to be great! One time i decided to bring it back for one night to see if i could recreate the moment and yes i could!
We got a giant conga line going around atlas which i uploaded to youtube [first half of the video is frozen mind, so skip to the 2nd half!] before have a RPS game on the top of the globe!
Thats what keeps me in this game for so long. Its not the actual game which i love to pieces, but its moments like these which are completely random but turn out to be great moments! Wow i had a bit of a flashback moment rant there! sorry! -
City Of Heroes NA updater = dev diary link
City Of Heroes EU updater = no dev link
Can we have an official EU thread please if we have to keep reminding you to update ours? -
How about we ALL join the same supergroup/villaingroup? Since im only having GR on my EU account i'll be playing EU side 20 hours a day and would love to be part of THE most active supergroup ever!
Think of the benefits if there is a 150 member active supergroup! We could even create alternative versions of it for competition/extra members! So who would be in?
By the way, as a standard rule i'ld say that the supreme leader would have to come down to a vote and that person has the final say of any arguments that might happen. Ideas on how to make this work if your in? -

Quote:Why would they have anything else? That was the last edition released in the EU.
Which is what i was getting at.
"Come buy our game! You only have 9 issues of updates [this is BEFORE the GR update btw] to download before you get to play"
Also it shows the game from the viewpoint of 4 years ago, both graphically and content wise. -
I've been keeping my eye on this thread and even started to put together a list of what stores offer to the EU and how easy it is to actually find the game. For example did you know that quite a few of the popular UK websites [for example play.com and game] only have up to the good v evil edition? Thats a LOT of content they'ld have to download before they even get to play!
Also lets say you type "buy city of heroes" in to google, the official website is halfway down the results. All of the results above it only offer the good v evil download/boxset too [again far too much to download]. However if you do click on the official website, it takes you to this page http://www.cityofheroes.com/buy_now/products/buy_city_of_heroes.html , now imo it does not clearly state which one is the way out of date option between the two available downloads. Anyway as i was saying, below is a post that i made on another thread about 4 months ago when we found out we werent getting the GR boxset in europe. Think it still applies now even without recent updates to it
The first two years was great over in the EU. I personally wasnt here for the first few months when the EU side launched but have been here ever since. As with most games, the general population would obviously decline as time goes on and everybody accepts it.
However . . . . . . when a major new expansion comes out and its been hailed as the potential saviour of our EU servers within a lot of the playerbase [just log in to any of the EU servers and ask around, most people would say it], and then we get told its not being placed within our stores then i feel we personally have a right to feel generally worried and concerned for our "homes".
Not one person so far has said that having it as a download is a bad idea [more options always welcome], the problem being stated is that there is now a fear that our servers will continue to decline due to no new players. The US ones should flourish and rightly so from the new expansion, old players and new ones will be coming back to check it out.
Let me give a very good example too. Which of the following servers would you pick if your a new player?
EU: 4 servers, 2 of which are english, 1 german and 1 french.
US: 12 servers [iirc? Cant really remember off heart without looking]
EU: Union tends to peak at just over 200 players mark. Defiant just over half that. Vigilance just under half it and the german server [sorry cant really remember how to spell it] everytime i've logged on to it hasnt been over 50.
US: Majority of your servers have a lot more players than our busiest one. If worried about players being on at different times, then freedom/virtue would be fine since even your "lowest numbers" beat our peaks.
EU: Population slowly declining with no real advertising/merchandising to give the belief that it'll grow
US: Both GR and AE boxsets will have been available within stores in just over a year difference to give customers the impression that its a constantly growing business/game and would get new players.
We all have a lot of group of friends ingame who we like to talk/play too, but if theres no new players coming in then whats the motivation to keep us here? I dont want to play on a "private server" as such. I've even logged onto the french and german servers from time to time to team with people who i dont know [still love teaming with the french players!]. The EU population is currently a very loyal bunch of people who have for the last 3 years seen our community reps/communication dwindle constantly. Merger of the forums helped greatly with the communication part and we are only now starting to see dev/mod created events on our servers too.
Seemed like it was starting to pick up and that the future seemed bright with GR, now . . . . all the bad memories are coming back -

Quote:From a gaming point of view this would be the ideal situation i think. However from a story point of view, being dropped off in the far corner away from civilisation after being freed is probs the better solution.
Mercy should've started inside the walled city and delved down into the ruined rotten mercy island we all know and dislike. Early doors INSIDE the walled city, 5-10 missions down in buttsville. No more running across Mercy 5 times (with no travel power) to do your very first Story Contact. -

Igneous-At the very least, I always thought it 'd be cool if they tied in a massive Igneous rock monster appear at the end of a mish/arc. Really similar to the Crimson Zues Mega Titan mish, I know, but something involing this cool group.

Can you ever complete a MMO? Isnt that the draw of a game like this? There is always a way to improve?
