Quote:But wouldn't that mean having to make a unique map for every single building in all the new zones? That's sounds kina like a bit too much work...
Surely only the "main" buildings will have their own unique maps. Others would i presume have a bag full of maps that they can dip into when they chose which one is the lucky random map to be played. -
-
Quote:Confirm-ish.
Every building that you enter in Pratoia will have a specific purpose and a context for the mission you are doing. It will no longer be "Generic Mayhem in the Office by Syndicate!"
It will be "You are entering GeneCo. to alter the repossession papers laid out by Rotti Largo."
I can't really imagine them doing that without at least a couple new maps.
That new feature i like a lot. Even we kind of have it in some missions, better that theres more now.
But yeah i want new maps too, you do get to remember EVERY single mob spawn point after a while. -

Aint no time to celebrate
Being a loyalist is ever so great!
I love these mini forum games we have all decided to make now putting us all into "teams"Though us loyalists are winning so we're bound to find it more fun

Quote:Thank you for your attention. This has been a test of the Subversive Propaganda Simulation Alert System. We trust that none of our Praetorian citizens have been in the least discomfited. If you experienced troubling emotions or disloyal thoughts, consult a Seer immediately for rapid relief.
Please be advised that genuine subversive propaganda, should it ever succeed in being broadcast, is likely to be far less skilfully constructed. It will be characterized by crude appeals to emotion and hectoring rhetoric. The approved reaction is to smile and go about your business. If you are compelled to act otherwise, consult a Seer for free counselling.
Thank you for your co-operation. Praetoria prevails.
Yay us Praetorian loyalists have you! We're starting to get quite an army! -
-
We will let you build your "resistance" to the maximum! We want you to know that even at your maximum strength, you are no match to us TRUE Praetorians!

Reflection Of Damz reporting for duty to protect Praetoria!!!
We'll show those primal earth weaklings that it was a mistake to come to our world! -
Quote:No, we're not
We have a better idea of freedom, justice and what's right than Tyrant and his thugs - you'll see that once GR comes out
You invaded our space by spying on us, retaliation is to be expectedYour freedom, just like your army of heroes, will soon realise how weak it is compared to the brute strength of skill and sleek pistol animations.

As a member of the Praetorian Guard [somebody make that a supergroup please!] i'll just like to say one thing to primal earth . . . .
Bring it on -
Quote:When I can rep again, I will give you a green dot. Except I am going to pretend it's a booger that I'm going to wipe on your shirt. We shall see if it's just a green dot to you after that..muehahahahaha
lolI just got a neg rep saying something like "im going to eat all your dots! nom nom nom nom", those kind of neg reps are fine because they are in good spirit and fun
[I will pistol nuke you hero/villain that did it though]

Representing Praetoria -
Quote:Nemesis is winning the war.
Btw, you forgot the "Coming Storm" (Sometimes I think the Devs have forgotten about it too) so there is another side. City of Heroes is getting as bad as a Marvel crossover.
We arent really "at war" though with nemesis are we? I feel he is taken as basically, another criminal that must be stopped whenever he pops up. Sure he's always behind pratically everything but wouldnt say we are at WAR with him.
The coming storm is a war that we can see will happen in the future, it isnt currently happening [or is it?] and we cannot be at war with something that neither sides are attacking yet.
I still pick Praetoria to win -

Thanks for the linkThey didnt seem very . . . enthusiastic about the whole thing though did they.
For a review it was . . . . . very basic -

Once GR hits live we'll be at war with three other sides now. Them being the Rikti, Recluse [villains] and now the Praetorians. One thing that has to be said about Paragon City is that we do put up a good fight no matter who the enemy is and are not afraid to take the fight to them [apart from the rikti, they is just crazy!
].
However, one thing that did just occur to me is which side is actually winning the constant war between now 4 different sides?
In my opinion, the Rikti are the side that are the best situated to be claimed as "winning" since they are the only side who purely havent had anybody else set a foothold in their world.
Heroes/villains already have praetorians and rikti setting up bases/constant invasions here.
Praetorians have heroes [and soon to be villains] invading them and setting up bases of operations.
Rikti? At the moment from what we can tell, nobody has set up an assault onto their world succesfull enough to be deemed worthy of mentioning [sure we closed their portal but that only delayed them a few years].
So when you think about it, heroes and villains are actually fighting a losing battle it seems and it might be time to jump ship and join a team that is better fitted to our needs for victory. So heres to being an official Praetorian in a few months time!
Heroes/Villains/Rikti . . . . . . the real war starts in 2010 . . . . . . -
Quote:I was just about to say that. Which again brings up, whats is the difference? Both took over the world and molded it to their vision of what it should be.
I'll be honest, it doesnt matter who or what they are, if theres loot and xp there . . . . . they're going down -
Quote:That its hard to now log in to the live servers without crying for the improved graphics
What're you whining about? [joking!]

I dont mind the rep system at all
Sure i get a LOT of negative rep for my sense of humour but dont take it to heart of anything, after all . . . . . its just a dot

Quote:I was never interested in the Assault Rifle. Of course, it helps that I didn't care for the sound effects or the AoE emphasis or the mostly lethal damage. The Assault Rifle seems too mercenary and not metahuman enough for me. I may have the same attitude toward the pistols, but I'll have to wait and see what they come up with.
I'm more interested in the Demon Summoning.Quote:Part of me agrees with you. My Dual Pistols character was going to be a Paragon PD officer, but the really super flashy animations simply don't fit that concept at all. (Now he's going to be a member of the Resistance, not that the animations really fit a gritty freedom fighter either.)
The other part of me realizes that this set was their answer to all the people clamoring about Gun-fu/Gun-kata/wtf ever. It's also specifically NOT generic and boring, because people would complain more about it being "another boring weapon set with stupidly resisted damage."
Honestly though, the animations aren't THAT BAD aside from the mini-nuke (the PBAoE super gun-fu move).Quote:... I sort of agree, but when I imagine 8 toons jumping around on the spot, I just think of Power Rangers.
Just a quick 2 second glance at some of the feedback to the OP to show that people both agree and disagree with him/her. -
Quote:Ah yes. The City of boards are so much more civilized than other games' forums.
Why, no one would ever come down on someone here for offering a negative opinion based on available information. Nope. We're all civilized, open minded folks here, who certainly don't make assumptions that everything will be awesome based on a flashy preview. And we're not at all blind dev fanbois and apologists.
Nope.
Never.
Not here.
Just good civilized open minded discussion.
I'm so glad that it's acceptable and even encouraged to offer up a differing opinion here without fear of the frothing herd blindly stampeding on you. It's refreshing.
Discussions and open ended arguments are always welcome here. However if you do read the OP then it isnt really a question or a topic very wide open to a discussion, its more of a statement that the player doesnt like the animation and now has no reason to buy GR.
To make a thread/OP a valid discussion topic about any subject then that person must show both sides to the coin and not have a totally biased view. To further dis-credit the OP, he/she goes on to say that all that will be in GR is graphics update/demons which it 100% is not, which goes to show that it is a knee jerk reaction and not a well thought out one. I myself have been known to have very bad knee jerk reactions on these boards and let my feelings known, but i think that the majority of the time i have said sorry for the initial reaction instead of doing constructive feedback.
If you do read the entire thread properly though [especially the latter pages], then you can clearly see we are all discussing just exactly the reasons WHY we like/dislike the animations as they are currently. All it comes down too though is personal taste obviously, but i havent seen one poster really saying "im right, your 100% wrong", its all been stated that its what THAT poster wants regarding the animation.
So even though the OP could have been worded a lot better to be more open to a good discussion, the thread has turned into a good topic to talk about since we are all basically comparing our notes/playstyles that we like to use. -
Already we have some PvP threads popping up all over the forums regarding GR!
