I'll be shuffling a couple of characters off Virtue, and a couple back on. We've been on Virtue since the headstart at launch, so its just where we live.

Pretty much all of Dual Pistols could do with alternate animations. I'd much prefer less twirly superfluous movement in the set.
Dark Blast->Black Star The power effect is OK, but the pose is a little problematic. How about the old Twilight Grasp pose instead? Thats the one used for Thunderous Blast, and I think Bitter Freeze Ray. Instead of shooting outward, since the attack is PBAOE, perhaps it could shoot upward or downward.
Munitions Mastery->LRM Let me use a rocket launcher weapon model for this please! Shooting a rocket out of the assault rifle models is well, silly looking. The rocket launcher model is in the game for the Council/5th, let me choose it and re-draw be damned.
Another suggestion, let me use the Traps "punching buttons on my wrist" animation and have the LRM target marked in some way, and have the rocket come in from above, as though you called in an air strike. -
Yeah, it is viable. Heck, it was viable when CoV launched, which is when I did it. Just have to be careful with your end management.

I don't know if I like the "World of Heroes" name possibility. How about "Paragons"
-
I don't know, possibly. The AoE immobs are surprising to me, and look like they ought to be pretty popular.
-
Huh. When I read that change, I didn't even think about my Elec/Fire. I think I'd forgot Blasters even have Burn.

Its not surprising that they're working on another MMO. However, it is just as possible that it is a new game in another genre as it is CoH2.

Not much meat in this update, I would have liked some more detail on the powers, or some videos of them in action.

Quote:All thats true, though the reading I've been doing of Dual Pistols feedback seems to vary between "it's OK" and "not that good"When you have a new set- one that we haven't learned the "ins and outs" of... yet - and particularly if we have preconceived expectation for how an archetype is played- knowing it's numerically "not the worst" helps a LOT.
If you're sucking playing a set, there are two possibilities-- either the set is inherently flawed or you haven't found the tactics that make it function better.
If there are other sets that are numerically WORSE, then you know that the problem isn't ENTIRELY within the set. Your tactics probably need some worse. If you hear others citing how strong the set is for THEM, then there may really be tactics that make the set shine (of course, it could also be that those people have different priorities, too)
As I said, conversationally, saying that something isn't the worst isn't a great endorsement of the quality of the set. But anyways, I think you probably took my comment more seriously than it was intended. -

Thanks folks. I can see the need to kill quote trees. Ideally I would have liked to see them still here, its easy to lose context otherwise.
On the otherhand, people tend to get stupid with them, so I guess this goes into "this is why we can't have nice things" file. -
Hey folks,
Quick forum usage question. Are nested quotes/quote trees turned off for the new forums or is there some option setting voodoo I need to do to turn them on? -
Quote:During some of my absence from CoH, I've been playing LOTRO, and this is something they've done recently, going back and reworking their the starting areas and quests for the first chunk of the game. It made a big difference to how playable and engaging the game was for a new player IMO. I experienced both the original and new versions, and the new was vastly superior. Applying the lessons you've learned over years of running an MMO to your original work is a good idea IMO.Quote:
Anyway, i do hope Going Rogue includes an extensive revamp of the older game content in addition to the newer content. Not simply mixing in a few new tilesets and mechanics into the old missions, but an actual rewrite that updates and improves the old story arcs. Taking lessons learned and feedback given from both the old content and the newest shinies and using it to revamp the old stuff. If the old missions and story arcs could get the same sort of revamp that Faultline and the Hollows received i would be nearly ecstatic. (Well, at the least i would be very happy.)
Its all a question of resources though, and I have a feeling that 95% of any resources for writing and editing missions will be tied with working on GR until it comes out. -
One more thing, reading comments on articles on any sort of news-site is never a good idea. Seriously.
-
As a former long term player who hasn't really felt much of a connection with CoH in the last year or so, I can see where the article is coming from.
Going Rogue, should address some of my concerns with the game, but I am expecting an equivalent level of content in that expansion as CoV had.
CoH has done a very good job of adding all kinds of new systems in the last two years. They've done an equally poor job of adding sufficient new experience* based content. By that I mean, developer created new zones, story arcs, trials, and taskforces.
*In the sense of something you experience by playing through, not necessarily anything that gives you XP points. -
I might try to work Cryo Freeze Ray into the build. Being able to lock down a boss with holds is handy.

Aren't there other MMOs that have a website interface for character viewing etc.? I'm not a web programmer.

WoW and LOTRO both have character web page systems, possibly others. But it sounds like the City Vault was overly ambitious in what they wanted to put on it, and therefore ended up failing completely. -

Apparently /jranger is something awesome that I totally missed when I was gone for a while... what was it? Why was it so awesome?

Has anyone been able to find the Architect edition on the shelves in Canada? I would like to have an up-to-date DVD copy of the game for when/if I need to reinstall.
I have checked both Bestbuy and Futureshop. They have all the other major MMOs, but CoH is curiously missing. Amazon.ca has it, but it is overpriced at $29.99 CDN. Newegg.ca has it listed for $22.99, but after ridiculous shipping it is even more expensive than Amazon.
I won't need the DVD if the upcoming Rogue expansion comes with the first 15 issues. But I read that you need to already have CoH/CoV to play it, so I kinda doubt that it will.

I've seen it my local EB but not at FutureShop or Best Buy. However, if you just want it for back up purposes, you could just burn a DVD or copy your game directory to an external hard drive. Bill Z Bubba has a guide on "Moving CoX" that explains the process. -

yeah i miss a lot of the old posters too.
i haven't seen the Clintoian around in a while.
[/ QUOTE ]
Funny, I was thinking the same thing.

Clintonian has been gone from the forums for a very long time. He's about the only person who left the game/forums whose posts I actually missed. Him and Pilcrow. -

Diverting the joke... Its ROGUE. Secondly, its the same thing.. but we've all just about settled on CoX or Co*.

But the joke is why the thread was created. Red side=Blue side gone rouge.

It's a pretty weak joke.
