Apparently I've got to turn myself in to the Police, but there are no police to turn myself into - just a bunch of Malta, no named bosses, no glowies or zowies...?
-
I personally do this now:
- ignore IOs and Stamina until L22
- carefully store all useful Salvage
- use a veteran respec to recycle of all my old enhances into cash
- buy Stamina & L25 vanilla IOs- there's a big jump between the L20s and L25s,L25s should last you a while
- ignore special IOs until 35ish,except for the Devastation hold proc,Neuronic Shutdown and any really nice drops I get -
Quote:If we were that worried about Marvel, nobody'd ever roll Mutant.Heh. I used to see posts like "All the character names with -Man are already copyrighted by Marvel and DC!"
Try also some non-US patriotic names: I started Canadian Maid as an answer to all the Cappy clones when Shields first came out, and she rapidly became a favourite toon
Don't know if any of these have gone yet...
Mighty Mountie
Mighty Moose
The Great Cazaly
Sydney Swan
Capt. Bollywood -
Lots, including Dreamweaver herself - my very first toon
Most recent comedy toon was Barackade,who's Shield/Super Strength/Ears. -
cookbook suggestions:
Jamie's Italy-Jamie Oliver: much as I can't stand the guy on TV,every recipe is idiotproof, there's nothing required that needs an epic quest to a mystic mountain (looking at you,Lawson) and praise is lavished on delivery.
Hairy Bikers' Food Tour Of Britain - Si King & Dave Myers. Unpretentious, well laid out and beautifully tasty kit. Also, their live stage show (co-written with Bob Mortimer) is funnier than any stand-up I've seen short of Bill Bailey, while the first three rows were ready to charge the stage for a taste of their fried steak..)
Heat-Paul Grayler: essential reading for chilliheads. -
Won't need a multinational team or even a space agency. Just go up to Jim Cameron and suggest he can film Avatar II on location. Two years, tops.
-
I'd like it if that MyColor thing could be linked to GPS and turn red if you're over the local speed limit. I've been sent on the Naughty Course now and don't fancy getting any points...
Oddest stuff I've seen:
-gyroscopic dashboard flower vase on first series of New Beetle
-door-mounted umbrella holster on Rolls-Royce (so you can immediately cover your passenger when opening door for them- thank you, Parker...)
- Windows Mobile button on Fiat 500 (no idea what it did,and didnt dare touch it in case it died and crashed at 90mph on an Italian freeway) -
i do like the more upbeat tone: I remember Tim Kring's wife taking the credit for adding Hiro (because all the Americans would be so scared of not fitting in their carefully ordered little social boxes - Hiro, being new school Japanese, thinks it's MOST AWESOME THING EVAH.)
Note also that the only people allowed to enjoy having powers in Heroes were either out and out villains or shown as becoming unhinged (Peter staying up listening to police scanners,Claire thinking about going on patrol...)
Actually,I'd LOVE a comedy cameo from Claire in this series, having embraced her Regen Scrappzor role and gone full spandex.. -
It depends which WW era and which costume they go for. The new "Joan Jett" look is certainly more TV friendly, but a LOT of Xena-style humour would be good. Remembering Kelley's previous works, much campery would ensue which.. might not make it the longest running series.
If we were looking for the Diana Prince:Secret Agent type,I will (reluctantly and after an extended catfight) hand my gogo boots and corsetry to Kate Beckinsale. Who would be fabulous. The cow. -
Michael Chiklis: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0004821/
Most famous for The Shield & Fantastic Four, but also extensive stage & voice work. -
i actually kinda like this mechanic - he's a bit like an invuln or willpower tanker. he RESISTS damage but isn't impervious to it. So catching a bullet or jumping from tall buildings,ok(but it still hurts): stepping in front of machine gun,not ok. Means the writers can have a lot of fun with it while still making him, well, vulnerable.
-
Anything with "Firefly" in it I approve of on principle, and good for Magical Girl types as well. Snow I can happily leave.

Quote:Okay, so you're going to tell THIS FACE that you're abandoning her for someone else?I liked it, I'm willing to give up NCIS (oh Dear, dear Abby) for this
...I dare ya. And there's online catch-up for Americans anyway. Stay true to the faith! STAY PUNK!
In slightly more relevant news, I like it. I've been praying to the Universe for a sequel/equal to The Incredibles for years, and ABC (being Mouse-owned) seem to have provided one. Though they're really going to have to work to keep the dialogue this sparky. Mike Chiklis gets to show off a bit more range - comedy being somewhat harder to do than grimacing - and looking forward to when he gets to do some proper clobberin'.
Also,I hope it lasts longer than the end of fall sweeps. This kinda high concept stuff is notoriously difficult to sell - not to the public so much as advertisers. With Smallville ending this season, they could pick up some spare fans - but ABC execs may have quietly junked it already by sending it up against NCIS. Mere invulnerability, telepathy, speed, these pale compared to the power of SCIENCE, caffeine addiction, earbleeding metal and BEAMS OF PURE AWESOME that Abby has. And there's an Abby-led semi-solo episode this series! *fangirl squee*
Usual thing with something like this is if some exec's baby show can't cut it against the current top contender, first there's a huge promo burst, then as the exec's power wanes you're playing Hunt-The-Programme-Slot. Batted around timeslots and days without warning. And when they get dropped for 2nd tier baseball, both they and the show are destined for the junkyard.
If they can keep it quite well grounded in the family, keep the yuks coming and the occasional proper superheroic duel, I'm in.
So long as it doesn't clash with NCIS.
*cuddles Scientist Abby doll. And Habitat For Humanity Abby doll. And Nun Bowling Abby doll. And NSFW Fetish Abby doll...* -
To be honest, I preferred the Music Meister episode - guest starring the thoroughly awesome Neil Patrick Harris...

Quote:Yay for giant space crabs!I remembered a band from THIS decade that I liked enough to buy their album:
Eek a Giant Space Crab!
They're from round my way and had a massive local following - one of the happiest things I ever did in my last job was phone up winners when we got secret gig tickets....
"Traaaaaaaceeeeeeeeeyy?"
"WHAT?"
"There's some laaaaasss on the phone says you got gig tickets."
"TARL 'IM TER BAWG ORF!"
"It's for the Barkleys or something?"
"THE WHA?"
(Me, quietly:"The Darkness".)
"The DAAARRKNESS."
...dead silence, followed by running footsteps, the sound of the phone being violently ripped out of some poor mother's hand and a scream that made my ears bleed for days.
They also, sadly, suffered from Terminal Second Album syndrome but were a glorious bright moment of comedy rawk in a dull, grunge-filled age. They shall be missed.
Also: thank you to GoliathBirdEater for bringing Arch Enemy to my notice. I like.
Some slightly different stuff:
GIRL IN A COMA:
See if you can spot who they're fans of(and signed them!)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HL68RhXvaXs
RODRIGO Y GABRIELA
If you're in a mellower mood, check these two out. They met while in a Brazilian death metal band - but found that they really loved playing classical Spanish guitar too. Adventures and hi-jinks ensue, and they get signed - playing stuff that rocks festival crowds more than any three WSB indie bands you can name, armed just with a couple of Roundbacks, their fingers, an amp stack and a little imagination...

Just in a culinary mood rereading the Tea thread, and wondering if there was quite genuinely a recipe or definition you had for Awesomesauce. Or just any random family recipe you wanted to share.
My family's stuff is generally pretty variable and based around what's in hand (other than the Great Sacred Christmas Pudding Rituals). My personal pasta sauce recipe does involve tomatoes, fresh basil, celery, bell peppers, onions, capers, chilli, and of course bacon (known for its high naturally occurring quantities of Awesomium, part of any nutritious and delicious meal).

I miss Quattro, which was a bit of an 80s classic...

...you can kinda tell, can't you? :P -
Let's not forget another hobby of the mighty Bruce: champion sabre and epee fencer. Who challenges entire squads to cash-for-points duels, then takes them all on at once...
I'm not going to get into the whole Metallica Sold Out debate...again, but do have to say: "Some Kind Of Monster" is almost as funny as Spinal Tap, for all the wrong reasons.
Also, if you like your rock truly, gloriously, everything-louder-than-everything-else overblown, you would be most wise to invest in a copy of Metallica's S&M. It is mighty.

I'd say Muse - Black Holes & Revelations, if only to annoy Coin... *ducks*

Some personal favourites:
Joan Jett (& The Blackhearts):
Whole series of great albums to choose from... although sometimes NSFW.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yVlcAJFTPRo
Joe Satriani - Surfing With The Alien
If you like pure awesomeness in your guitar players, this guy taught Steve Vai, Nuno Bettencourt and, erm,Nigel Tufnel how to shred...
(sample track - Satch Boogie: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r1MJAyRN3Lg )
Iron Maiden:
...practically anything from the Dickinson years. And until you've seen Maiden live, you don't get the point. Showmen extroardinary...

Judas Priest - Killing Machine (aka Hell Bent For Leather)
Along with Queen (may their name be praised forever), The Stranglers, U2, and Joan Jett, it was this specific song linked below that perverted my tiny 6-year-old mind and converted me to the dark cause of true Metal...FOREVER. Click below, rock out.

Aerosmith - anything, but the Sony "Greatest Hits" double is nothin' but gold
*cuddles ragged AeroForceOne t-shirt and sings the following..*

Damn Yankees
Possibly Uncle Ted's finest hour, with a group of like-minded maniacs...

Nightwish - Once
No, this is not me singing.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AcyTR5mEC_E
The Cult - Love
No, this is not the Boosh singing, though Ian Astbury's taste in hats is hard to overlook. One from my 80s/90s black lace-n-leather waif period. (Wish I could still fit some of that stuff...)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8I8mWG6HlmU
Ozzy - Blizzard Of Oz
From one of the happiest periods of the Oz's life, just having acquired Sharon and a true and wise friend in a new young guitarist called Randy Rhoads, who also happens to rock like a beast... (RIP)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VorC_GHQnSc
And finally, brothers and sisters, remember - live hard, rock out, believe in a better day, and if you love someone, you tell'em right now, all right? Stay bright. Not 'arf. Oh, and...

For lo, he that is the Bringer Of Awesome did come upon the mount and speaketh:

@necronomikids we just finished ours, just a demo but hope you dig it, cheers!. http://bit.ly/b2eyZo -
I think Neil Patrick Harris as the Shoe Fairy is probably juuuust pushing it a little...
...but I can see your points here.
So can Elmo. o.O -
Can we just go back to praising Sir Terence and His Sword Of Awesome (+10)? It's more like a classic Roman gladius than anything, which is a very versatile piece of kit, quite tough, and in terms of L-Space mythos resembles Carrot's very practical and boring sword (which, incidentally, slices through stone in a practical and boring manner.)

Not sure if I've been scooped on this as I've been off the boards for some time, but Daft Punk's Tron Legacy score has uploaded itself to youtube...

You'd better be excited about this,Programs, because if this one fails no more geek films ever... End. Of. Line.
