The DFB already has diminishing returns:
1. As was mentioned by someone already, the leveling tapers off after about four runs. (about level 14 or so.)
2. The shiney new powers grayed out is incentive to go play other content.
3. After a few runs on the same character it's pretty boring pretty fast.
I myself have enjoyed running the DFB on some new characters just to get away from the low level stuff that I have run till I'm sick to death of it. A new way to get past the painful low levels for me has given me incentive to try new power combinations I haven't in the past.
If you don't care for it then ignore it. -
I have run the DFB on all of my long time established established characters to get the badges. It's a hoot to to see all my powers grayed out.
New characters I run through to get the four buffs then I start the signature story arcs then if able start tip missions. If not 20 by the end of the SSA's I do the midnighter club arc and the other specialty contacts.
Even the new low level stuff just doesn't hold my attention anymore after a few runs. -
Be right back... Getting the popcorn ready now...

Quote:Although some really do dislike JE and Statesman because that was his in game related avatar I don't believe that's why his role is changing. I believe you may have answered the riddle with the bolded sentence in your quote above. The hate for states is all because of the dev who had the same name. It's pretty silly, people even attribute his attitude to the character. The only other thing he's done is been one of the strongest signature heros in the game, and people just cant stand to have someone other than their characters in the spotlight.
For a long time players (generalized) have lamented that a lot of the time they have felt more like lackeys and delivery men rather than heroes. Taking Statesman out of the spotlight may finally bring the players heroes to the forefront. -
Quote:Super Groups not Guilds... Say it with me reviewers, SUPER GROUPS!
Free players do have some major restrictions, such as not being able to play user-created content in the Mission Architect mode or join guilds.

Quote:So does doing things half-baked and having to revisit them to fix it. It's better to wait a little longer to get a quality product than a bunch of stuff hurriedly out the door. Measure as often as you have to so you only cut once.I will bring the topic to development.
Realistically, don't expect it any time soon. Schedules are planned out months in advance and right now we're working on both Issues 22 and 23 and art schedules are quite possibly the most rigorous and time consuming of the lot, especially the character artists. Time to revisit previous costume pieces is not currently included and to do so would compromise new costume sets, villain groups, etc, etc...it has an extreme domino effect. -
Quote:Appreciate the response Z but my argument still stands that if you are not going to listen to feedback when beta testing costume items than why put them out there in the first place? Plus the above quote comes off as a flimsy excuse. Not the posting mind you but creating new sets part. If the thinking is quantity over quality then this thread points out that this a very flawed decision. I'm sure others would agree that it's better to put a golden product on the market than a bunch of hurried out, flawed items.
Unfortunately Cheryl, the artist who worked primarily on the Gunslinger Character Modelling, has been extremely pressed for time creating new costume sets and as such hasn't been able to post directly on the beta feedback thread.
I also agree with the many posters that make the point that this has been brought up time and again starting with the magic pack going forward. Almost like a case of maybe they won't notice we did it again if it's new and shiny enough.
Just because I need to know. When did Jay change his name to Cheryl?
Edit:
At the risk of being modded. For once a certain entity who shall not be named got it right...

If he is then he must not be in charge anymore. I remember in the past he would snarkingly defend a lot of decisions for certain pieces of costume sets he had designed.
It doesn't make sense to beta test something for a (relatively) long period of time, get tons of feedback for fix's and then shove it out the door missing a wheel. -
I seems like all this pre-tinting nonsense started happening when Jay mysteriously became silent and his name stopped being mentioned in conjunction with any costumes.
Does anyone know if indeed he has actually left and when? If Jay has gone it was definitely with very little fanfare. Which is surprising considering how long he was in charge of costumes and was with the game.
If Jay is not leading the charge then someone needs to start looking real hard at the direction costumes have started to head to. -
Ok Blue, I think this is the most important tidbit of information that I got from your OP:
Quote:If she is haveing fun then I would not worry to much about it. Let her play at her own pace and things will fall into place. If she want's to be able to go the next step up in the tiers or sub to become a VIP then she will make that decision.Okay, it took some magic, but my wife is in the City of Heroes on a free account. yeah. and she is having fun, yeah!!!!
The reason I say this is because I had the tendency to throw tons of information at my wife when she first started playing until she said stop and let her play at her own pace and learn things for herself just like I did when I first started playing.
You have to remember that even though the F2P option was expanded to let you play to 50 it's still just a trial intended to give a taste of whats offered so that you can decide to eventually sub or not. -
I am part of My neighborhood watch task force in my suburb and I only see Phoenix Jones doing the same thing except on a much larger scale.
Our motley group of "Heroes" have stopped fights that have broken out at teens homes having underage parties (and parties of this type are now very infrequent), We patrol peoples property when we know when they are out of town, question unknown individuals if they seem suspicious and try to keep our neighborhood an overall safe environment for everyone. Are we doing anything illegal? No we are not and by doing such activities over the course of several month's ne'er do well's are being persuaded to cease illegal or harmful activities or take them somewhere else.
I have a big can of pepper spray and if warranted I'm certainly not afraid to use it. I have seen what not getting involved can do and what terrible consequences it can have. I certainly would not enter into any situation that presented a chance for me to lose my life lightly but I will not stand by while an innocent is being harmed just because I'm afraid I might be hurt.
"A coward dies a thousand deaths, a hero only one" A hero never shies away from responsibility, always tackling what needs to be achieved head-on. He is fearless. When he dies he has no regrets and has always tried his hardest. This is how I see our Mr. Fodor. You may or may not think his actions are justified and may see him as delusional but he is at least doing something rather than standing there saying "it's not my responsibility, it's not my problem."
My two cents... -
Lets see...
Rio Bravo
The Crow
Wall Street
12 Angry Men
El Dorado
Blade Runner
Death Race 2000
Probably a few more but it's still early yet... -
It sure would be nice to get my points so that I can get all these nifty items...

Quote:So... If I understand you right you paid for a year and instead of getting points and tokens every month you want a years worth upfront? That issue really isn't mine.
The only thing close to that particular issue I have is that it seems unnecessarily complicated. Unnecessary complications in monetary systems ... well they tend to be dodgy. So I have become suspicious.
But, if you notice, my main issue has been the fact that I won't get as much from my money as I would have if I hadn't given it to the game already--not because it's gone on sale subsequently or something similar, but simply because the company won't deliver the goods to me as quickly. I am talking about the delay in delivering the points from the subscription I have already paid for.
It seems like a counter-intuitive way for a business to treat me. -
Kool-Aid Pie
This is very easy to make desert with no baking required. A pie takes as little as 10 minutes to put together and our 4 year old son has a great time helping out.
Ingredients needed:
9" ready made pie shell. (we use graham cracker a lot, chocolate pie shell with cherry kool aid works pretty well too.)
8 oz extra creamy or original cool whip. (thawed)
14 oz can of Borden's sweetened condensed milk.
Kool Aid Packet mix of your preferred flavor. (Some of the more exotic flavors you can get can make for a really strong pie. (An example of our favorites are Pink Lemonade, Kiwi Watermelon, Cherry, Strawberry and Lemonade.)
In a medium bowl mix packet of Kool-Aid powder with 14 oz can of sweetened condensed milk and stir till well mixed with spatula. Gently fold in half of cool whip into Kool Aid/condensed milk mixture and mix with spatula ( do not use hand mixer or it will make it to thin).
Poor mixture into pie crust and spread evenly. Take the remaining cool whip and spread evenly over top of the Kool Aid mixture. Place in refrigerator for 15 minutes to set or leave in till ready to eat.
We get a lot of request for these at family functions and during the holiday parties... A big bonus for us is that we know that these pies are pretty much kid safe as far allergies go. (Our son has a severe peanut allergy.) -
I think "Snafu" could be changed to "Snags" and still get the point across. Snafu as I read it sounds more disastrous in it's meaning whereas snags could refer more to the unseen in the process.
Also I missed it mentioned in the description of the premium accounts where returning players will be relegated to two global slots only as I understand how that works. If this is the case a returning player with dozens of characters across multiple servers will be in severe shock to find they can only play two existing characters or two new ones if the have the slots. (or mix and match). -
I was in WW when everything went Kablowie and I was back to the Login screen. Gave me the standard check your stuff message when i tried to log back in.

A name for me can be the difference between character longevity and the delete button. Sometimes things just doesn't work out for the vision in my head and what gets put together on the screen.
A list of my particular favorites that I have:
Dragon King - Fire/Energy Blaster: My first level 50 character and namesake. So old he should be using a walker by now.
Great-White - SS/Energy Brute: My first villain now a reformed hero. Designed from the ground up to take advantage of Mako's patron powers.
Mr. Rubber Ducky - SS/Shield Tank: My first tank to ever get past 10. Concept was as much fun as the powers and seemed to reach 50 pretty fast.
Nick O'tine - Fire/Dark Scrapper: When I was struggling with a particular habit.
Frostphorus- Fire/Ice Blaster: Idea from the History channel. Fire can burn so hot it would feel cold to you.
Jewjitsu - MA/SR Scrapper: This character came about because my four year old son pronounces jiu jitsu like this.
Maybe not extraordinary but I have grown to enjoy them.
