  1. I've been here since beta1 and I don't remember any cows. Sorry.
  2. I count at least 11 necro threads on the first page.

Someone needs a timeout from the forums.
  3. So, I just learned about this.

You've gone from beta tester to developer and you've helped turn City of Heroes into one of the best MMOs ever made.

Thanks for all you've given us and good luck in the new job. I'm sure you'll knock 'em dead.
  4. Also in the 20s, you get access to Oroborous and it's arcs, as well as tip missions that lead to side switching and even more content.
  5. Yep. It's better.

I still wouldn't use Doctored Wounds in High Pain Tolerance. I'd put four Reactive Armors in there to get the 1.25% smashing/lethal defense bonus. I'd also put four of them in most of the powers that take damage resistance enhancements: Tough, Mind Over Body and Strength of Will.

I use six Eradications in Footstomp for the same reason. Having six gives you 3.75% smashing/lethal defense.

I also six-slotted Taunt with Perfect Zinger to get 3.125% smashing/lethal defense.

You could have another 10% or so smashing/lethal defense. Remember, the soft-cap is 45%, so if you reach that, you pretty much have the best possible defense against the most common damage types in the game.

Again, I'm not saying my suggestions are the only way to build your brute. I'm saying be aware of the choices you're making with IO sets and what they add to your character. Have a goal in mind when you're creating your build and make your choices based on what will help you reach that goal.
  6. It's looking better.

One thing to keep in mind is to closely look at the bonus you're getting from the sets. For example, having four Kinetic Combat IOs in a power gives you 3.75% smashing/lethal defense. To me, that's a big help because, when you use it in five powers, you get 18.75% defense to smashing/lethal, on top of what your powers already give you. It adds up quickly.

That said, I'm wondering why you're slotting Red Fortune in several powers. It's giving a slight buff to fire/cold resistance and a 2% damage buff. I don't see this as a big help to your character. You could put in a few IOs from Luck of the Gambler and use the rest of the slots in other powers.

I'm not saying don't go your own way, but look at the set bonuses when you're making a build. The different sets will enhance your powers in similar ways, but it's the bonuses that can put your character over the top.
  7. Here's my build again with, hopefully, a working data link.

Rage provides enough tohit bonus by itself that it doesn't really need more tohit slotting; if you want to invest in a few IOs, then two tohit/rech pieces plus a generic tohit and rech will let you get almost the same benefit in 4 slots. If your generic IOs are in the 45-50 range, then you can also drop two slots from High Pain Threshold and remove a single Heal and a single Resist IO without significantly reducing the benefit.

So, what do you do with all those slots? Four slots in Tough: 3 resist, one endredux. Four slots in Weave: three defense, one endredux. Three slots in Health: three heal. Four slots in PP: two heal, two endredux. All together, this boosts your resistance, defense, and regeneration significantly.
This is pretty good advice. Especially the part about IW. I run with only a Luck of the Gambler +recharge slotted there. However, using only IOs, I would slot IW with one defense IO or an end redux and nothing else. Slot RTTC with three heals and one end redux. Give rage three recharges and leave it alone.

Slot tough and weave as Trashcan suggests and run them all the time. Keep your defenses as high as you can. Especially smashing/lethal.

This is very true. Anything that debuffs your defense can be quite dangerous.

Seriously consider using IO sets. I'm only a few IOs away from completing my set build. It already has soft-capped smashing/lethal defense. It's pretty close to unkillable and so much fun to play.

You don't have to buy your sets from the market. Use hero/villain merits along with other merits to buy the recipes. Buy the salvage needed from the market and craft them yourself. In a couple of months or so, your build can be complete.

  10. Wow. This is a big problem and could affect quite a few people. I'm not sure what the solution is. Reset the arcs when you switch sides? Automatically close open arcs as if you'd never started them?

The devs need to solve this one.
  11. I own an iPhone and iPad. I'd love some kind of character planner app that I could use when not at my PC.

Would I pay for it? Only if it was really, really good.

You have an unusual definition of snarky. I was just surprised. <shrug>

Anyway, if the mission was bugged, that's quite different than it simply being too difficult.

So your trying to say that mission was only too hard for teams? You could just, you know, say that instead of trying to be snarky.

It was about the same for me. I was on that ITF with you as "Militarian".

Yes. It would be nice if they would manage expectations. There's no reason they cannot say if Issue 19 will be released tomorrow. They do not announce exploit fixes, but the assumption is that the AE exploit will be fixed tomorrow either way.
  17. I bought the wedding pack. Never felt it was worth the original price, but I bought it to encourage future price cuts.

I *might* consider the party pack if it's 50% off the future. Its the only pack I haven't purchased. I still won't touch the buy-able jet pack. I don't like the idea of buying consumables in video games.
  18. By the way, very cool of you to do this giveaway.

According to the box art, it includes CoH, CoV and GR.

You asked valid questions. Some people seem to think the forums are a version of PVP.
  22. I registered for the original forums in September 2001. Been here pretty much ever since, although I have taken a couple of breaks from the game here and there.
  23. I get the newsletters, but did not get a closed beta invite email. I did suddenly see the closed beta forums one day and, surprise, I could log in to the beta server. Checked spam folders and there was nothing there.

You might be in closed beta, but not get an email about it.
  24. Yes, please.

I don't see a recharge time other than "very long". I'm guessing five minutes, but there's no standard time for "very long" is there?
  25. I've been using Titan Sentinel for the past couple of days and I love it.

I still use Hero Stats to track timers and other things, but Sentinel works wonderfully as a badge tracker.

    Thanks for the excellent work!
