    I agree, from my experience [and working with developers] they still work to a core set of code. It's a reason why issues/problems reappear time to time and quickly need to be repatched. The company will try to push the developers to reuse much code as possible versus new pure development as anything else will cut into profits.

    So you assert that:

    1. The code that connects powers to animations is fragile enough to make changing it unlikely.
    2. Cast times would be a problem or restriction for alternate animations
    3. There's too much work with color tinting to allow for the creation of custom animations
    4. Melee sets without weapons are a minority not worth working on.


    I16 proves you correct that we'd have to be astronomically lucky for I16 to "allow alternate animations for our powers" because in I16:

    1. They added relatively simple code to allow for powers to call alternate animation and FX sequences
    2. They did so in a manner that always preserves cast time
    3. They decided to make time specifically to create custom animations in some cases...
    4. ...specifically for a couple of the unarmed melee sets because their color/tinting options are lower, and to introduce the fact that I16 now allows for alternate animations for your powers


    Of course, when you look at it that way, its obvious how you could come to the mistaken conclusion that I16 vindicates your position. For at least this definition of vindicates:

    It does look like I16 is specifically designed to take revenge on your posts, but that's entirely a coincidence.

    I've suggested this a few times already but I don't even know if this game even allow a real Jump and Kick to happen.

    What I mean is making Eagle Claw a 20'-30' range attack but instead of shooting something out of your legs (like Focus), you actually Fly, Kick and LAND near the target.

    The only thing that is close to this idea is Lightning Rod type of power but you actually have to select an area first.


    I think it will be a fantastic buffing idea for Martial Arts as it lacks any real advantage over Dark Melee and Energy Melee as ST Damage Set, and it fits the theme very well too.

    A variety of reasons.

    - Being a character created by a dev, he can do whatever he wants. For reference, see Positron, an armored Defender with more HP than any Tanker, or Castle the Fire/Fire tankmage.

    - He's an actual, top tier hero. Player heroes and villains are 3rd class. We rate below canon sidekicks. That's why few player made characters can beat signature characters toe to toe when they're not watered down to EB status.

    - He's also got a variety of electrical and energy attacks at his disposal.

    - His faceplace cancels out Enhancement Diversification. That's why players aren't allowed access to it as a costume piece.

    Positron said it best a while back - we all con Grey to Him. Reverse the situation in a mission (do an older arc) and the AV is very very easy.

    Also, We have yet to see the "secrets" of the Incarnate ATs. Lore wise I'd say Players are more in the line of Hercules in which we can "threaten" the godlike powers out there but unless we are en masse we are really no threat. Most civilians are just specs of dust to them unless they find an alternative like the malta Group, etc. An Incarnate versus an Incarnate might cut through those resistances like butter by reducing effectiveness by like a factor of ten. 50% going to 5%..etc. Perhaps you can forward your Question to Manticore in the Lore thread, I'd love to see his answer!
  6. Only a few times in the past 5 years, Most who know me but not in RL will get on my TS server or our SG Page. The rest will message via the global tells or the tradiational text message/phonecall.
    The RMT has toileted the email system and you will get the SPAM if you are not hidden.

    Thank Goodness, they need a fix and overhaul. Those Chain healing Globs were broken. Once they hit you, self healing inspirations and powers don't work at all. They also jump around and move after you push them with a force field.

    Rikti raids will be back in full swing with the explosion animation fixed too.
  13. I'm thinking N-Vidia is having issues playing nice with Vista's recent updates. Are people having problems with other games or JUST CoH/CoV?

    I suggest running thermal software on your PC to see if you are running hot.
  14. I know HP Laptops are known to have a major problem after 13-15 months of operation ... the GPU starts over heating and starts damaging the components around it. Bottons not Working, Wireless Not being detected, Monitor shut off, and case warping are all signs of this.

    By any chance did Vista do a software update then this problem appeared? I've been hearing rumors that the drivers can get uncertified in a patch and then the "normal" operation of the GPU gets deleted and causes problems.

    The Key is.. we have ample warning, so that is why civilians clear the streets. I think they need to start "beaming" people into prison ships and we need to fight our way out as a team to rescue hostages... that would be some cool stuff. I think of the old TV series "V" where the show pretty much centered around resistance missions against the aliens. (MY favorite was the followup where humans poison the atmosphere to get rid of the aliens) "A year after Liberation Day, courtesy of the red-dust bacteria, the humanoid, lizard-like aliens develop a resistance to the micro-organism and try to regain control of the Earth"

    Most of that is found already in-game on blue side. It's called Boomtown and nobody goes there because it's a giant burned out waste with no facilities and nothing to do there. Red side gets mishes in the teens that send you to disrupt the reconstruction efforts there I think.

    The idea of actually fighting during an invasion is that you're preventing the Rikti from turning every zone into Boomtown clones.

    At least junk up things a bit ..... Make more items destroyable like the Meyham missions [make sure players can never target them] But not too much just some cars and dusting of random items and buildings. From what I understand, the Rikti agenda is not to destroy Buildings and Assets [like the Original Assault] But the actual extermination of super powered threats and magic. Once this is accomplished the ship can be repaired and then the overall havoc would return.

    Don't get me wrong, I love sending them back to where they came from:-). But being a member of Vanguard is supposed to grant a 10% chance of earning a Vanguard Merit to any defeated Rikti not in the ship :-). My Search Fu is weak at the office and need clarification if this is the case for the event.

  21. The problem is allot of what is on a Devs plate was planned months if not years ago, they HAVE to complete those tasks or they are sent packing. Then when there is a break in a schedual they can go back and look at ideas until the next project is forced on them.

Comic Con has been sold out for at least the past month or two It's a national event, so hundreds of thousands of passes have already been purchased. It's at capacity, and there are no tickets at the door. Passes are also non-transferable, so no scalped passes either.

    However, the same codes given out at previous events have been made available through various CoX contests by some of the third party sites. There's still chances to get them even if you cannot get into Comic Con.

    The wife and I were wanting to do Comic-Con ... and yeah it was sold out quite quickly -so yeah, hosed again. They just need to offer these codes at the store and actually travel to more states for things. I think Statesman was the only one to make it to Arizona, and that was for an ASU game.

    DR would just hurt the guy that loves to play a few select characters alot. Farmers would just rotate between different characters or accounts anyway. I mean I was eating dinner last night and saw a team of 8 played by only two people. Enough sonics to cap resists, and a blasting kinetics, and the dude getting Pl'd the rest looked to be on autofollow and the team never entered the map at the same time, just one by one.

    The devs need to fix exploitive and harassing behavior such as the broken email system
