  1. The arc in my sig is almost entirely existing bad guys, and the only customs are set at 100%, but it is pretty text heavy for a team.

I didn't notice them at all seeing the movie in the theater.

Then I read a forum thread mentioning the lens flares (probably here), and because of that, when I got the blu-ray I noticed them, and they drive me crazy now.

Yes, it could. Removing all rewards would be far worse. At least right now, especially for those who don't get bent out of shape using outside resources like PW and Arrow Rose's threads to find arcs, the AE can be used by those of us with altitis who have done the dev arcs too many times. Make AE no better than fighting mobs of greys and almost no one will bother. I know I don't fight mobs of greys unless there is a badge involved, and even then it's only when I'm bored.

Actually, what annoys me is 50 million versions of the exact same farm cluttering up the interface. Same maps, same enemies, same mechanics, different costumes. If you got rid of every farm that was a near exact copy of another farm you'd probably only have a couple dozen farm arcs left.

Then you'd just have another 50 former exploits and their 100 million copies clogging up your ability to find the farm you want.

So, you can call me elitist if you like, but I have nothing but contempt for those who find they like something and make exact copies. I really don't care about the farm makers who design original farms.

I also think it won't matter what anyone thinks about them in a very short time. With Freedom coming, and the ability to buy AE access, the devs are going to have to gut AE for everyone or have the I14 debacle all over again. All the AE exploits did was make power leveling slightly faster, it's still far easier, and much more accessible to new players, with AE as it is now. Anything they do to prevent this is going to hurt all sides, except those who think removing rewards will have any effect other than completely killing AE off.

Of course, I'd also say that what it allowed me, personally, to do was far more important than whether or not other people could do it as well.
Yeah, I get City Traveler today, probably my last vet reward before Freedom. I won't get to use it long, but I'm glad they FINALLY are lowering the level for travel powers so I'm not bothered by it. So, I say to the devs I should get a free Purple recipe of my choice token on all my characters and we'll call it even
  7. Good for you! Now I'll probably never get around to playing it since I usually skip DC arcs on the list.

I'll admit I wasn't thinking along the lines of a new "world" like GR or the Rogue Isles. Paying for something like that would not upset me - creating it, rather than expanding on one or both of the existing worlds, is what would upset me. Which is why I dislike Praetoria so much even though I think the content is very well done.

    HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

So you're saying it is the devs responsibility to immediately correct anyone who either makes an incorrect assumption, cannot listen, or cannot read (the bulk of your incarnate example is actually based on those three, not anything the devs actually stated)? How often does that happen on these forums? IN ALMOST EVERY THREAD!

I'd much rather they were working on the game than using resources to correct everyone who gets something wrong here. That would be a full-time job in and of itself.

I'd also have to say that Zwill has been doing a great job in trying to correct misconceptions about Freedom.
  10. Access to zones or missions. As a VIP player, I believe I should never have to worry that I might be invited to a team and find I can't run the content they are planning on doing.

Sadly, the fact that it would upset me would not stop me from paying for it.
  11. Variety.

As a player who is obsessed with trying out all the ATs, powers, skills, or whatever an MMO offers to characters, my experience with every other MMO is every new character has to do almost exactly the same things every character before it had to do.

Not here. I have 10 different mission paths I can start with, I can streetsweep and level just as effectively as missions at the start, I can do a sewer run and bypass the low levels entirely. The last couple years, I've had dozens of new story arcs to take my new characters through in the AE (and people can knock it all they want but the fact is there are few 5-star dev created stories in the game, so there may be only a few stories in AE whose writing may blow someone away, but there are tons of stories as good as most of what is in the game).

Not to mention the numerous activities that are not related to running missions and beating up bad guys that can be engaged in.

This is the only MMO I've played where, after 125 alts, I don't lose interest in making a new alt because it means doing the same thing I've already done 100 times before.

Actually, his Positron mention was related to question 2, about another page of character slots.
  13. To me, a challenge is something I have to think and plan out to succeed at. The closest any game I've played comes to being a challenge are strategy games and then it is only a challenge until you reach the point that the AI's stupid decisions have ensured you can't lose. Usually that is well before the game is over.

This game I don't play for challenge, I play for fun and relaxation.

Of course I wouldn't be opposed to them dropping the price to 600 points or so, (realisticly the lowest I believe they'll go) but that still wouldn't be low enough to entice me into buying sets I'm only moderately interested in.
800 seems high to me, 600 is what I would consider equitable, however, like others have said, I'll pay 800 points for the new powersets and not be upset about it. In the end, prices are in large part about what the consumer is willing to pay.

No, anything you can do in this game is OK until the rule-makers ENFORCE what they say you're not to do. They've already said AE is not for farming. Since they do not enforce it, that has become its main use. It's an important distinction since it speaks to the character of the AE farm makers.
  16. I know what you mean. I'm up to about 125 characters across all but 3 of the servers and I've only had to hunt for a name perhaps half a dozen times.
  17. I'd have to jump on the "we should get something extra for having purchased GR" bandwagon, too. CoV going for free never bothered me, since it had been bought years earlier, but GR is pretty recent which makes it feel wrong. Not that I'm going to lose any sleep over it either.

    Time to 50

I created my second character back in Feb 2005, and he just became my first 50 last weekend, so, not counting the couple years I wasn't playing, about 4 1/2 years for me.

The actual time played was 279 hours, though.
  19. I've burned a few hundred million inf for my personal bases (2 billion inf is an out of reach amount of money for me, since I don't enjoy doing the kinds of things that it takes to make that much money, though my 50 might have had close to 1 billion had I not burned so much of it). It's been well worth it.
  20. How often have we ever gotten 5 new powersets in an issue for free? (or is it 6 new sets coming with Freedom, I lost track.) Just what has been released so far about Freedom sounds like an issue with the same amount of free content (for VIPs) we usually get in an issue. Additionally, there is even more new stuff that we may have to buy if we want it right away.

I wouldn't call that being "stuck". I may get many things for free I have no interest in (which has always been the case in every issue), but as long as the overall free content is the same as its always been, I'll happily buy the additional goodies that would have otherwise been years down the road if they couldn't have made them pay for themselves.
  21. Despite the horrible writing and asinine plot, the arc was fun, right up to the last mission when the writer decided to show the player that he could kill them multiple times and they could nothing about it. This is the kind of writing, and EB ambushes, I expect in the worst dregs of AE arcs that I can 1-star as I ragequit, not in dev arcs.

At least in AE it tells me the arc has extreme EBs so I know up front not to waste my time on it without AV killer ATs and builds. I might play this arc again for the badge, but I'll drop every mission after that point.

    The Dead Pool

It won't be a character that has a TF attached to them. Too many other things would have to be adjusted. That puts BABs right in the firing line.

For my money though, I'd like it to be Blue Steel. He's always seemed a rather pointless addition to the signature characters. Besides, he spends all day guarding the giant penny he stole from the Batcave, and him being a cop and all...it's just not right...
  24. For me it depends on the character, I pretty much run the gamut. Some of my characters are inspired by various golden-age heroes and they basically have a self-contained origin and the city is simply where they do heroic things. They have no particular connection to any of the storylines, it is just things they get involved in.

Other characters are translations of characters I created back when I was 12 to 15 and was drawing my own comic books. They basically have their own stories outside the city and just do hero things in the game. (looking forward to Freedom for these since, for most of them, the powerset combinations available to villain ATs fir far better than hero ATs)

Then I have numerous characters that are linked to CoH lore or groups. (I'm up to over 125 or so heroes at the moment). They tend to seek out stories that focus on the groups that are a part of their origin.
