Freedom and supergroups

One thing that currently cannot be xfered from one server to another is a supergroup base and prestige. Yes, you can start a new one, but it takes quite a while to get the prestige to build a fully-functional base. And no, I don't think converting 60 billion INF is an acceptible alternative.

If "freedom" hits, and those of us with jobs decide we must flee the drooling hoards of potty-mouth 7-year-olds and run screaming for the gated community known as "VIP server" it would be REALLY, REALLY NICE if we could take our bases with us.

PLEASE?!? Maybe just as a one-time (or even purchased) option?

Positron said that they are working on a way to do that but it will likely not be ready for Freedom launch.

As a side note, I did the math once you can make a fully functional heroside base for less than 4 million prestige which requires the conversion of only 2 billion inf.

Oh stop being melodramatic. No one needs 30 million prestige to make a fully functional base.

It's nice to know the actual number. That's still quite a lot to someone only holding about 300 million after playing for 39 months... I could start farming or marketing instead of playing the game, I guess. But that seems like work. I'd much rather spend $10 or $20 and press a few buttons. Nice to know we might have that option soon(tm).

So, I didn't do the math. I stand corrected. I still say the conversion rate is highway robbery.

But is converting 2 bill inf to 4 mill prestige to create a functional base truly worth it? The inf to prestige conversion ratio has always been a bit.....off, imo.

Also, are bases truly needed/useful these days? Currently I think the only thing you cannot do outside a base is setup and launch the Cathedral of Pain. All trains on blueside and all ferrys on redside are now linked to all non hazard/pvp zones so is a base loaded with all teleporters needed? Rezzing in base is fine if you have insps in storage you think you may need, but you dont rez at full health and the devices to augment the rez chamber come from the 2nd SG heal badge and cost base rent once installed.

I don't think you'll find anyone that's happy with it.

He was making a point that the numbers the OP used were uhm overly pessimistic. He wasn't suggesting it was or wasn't worth converting.

That's a matter of personal opinion. We have a whole community that loves their bases.

It was to me. I wanted a private base that I could use for storage and teleporters (which I'll get around to setting up one day, honest) and I didn't want to wait the length of time it would take me to earn 4 million prestige solo so I burned the inf.

Hey that's fine, mileage varies and all that.

Also I enjoy my bases as well (fusion gen, the giant ceiling AI computer system, all TP units, storage, etc.) but with the lack of changes to bases, base raids apparently still offline, and that it looks like nothing new is coming for bases in the near future, I just wonder if a base nowadays is worth it.

Not dismantling mine anytime soon of course, just not spending any more time organzing/designing them.

Blue side Bases are IMO worth while, especially at lower levels. Hazard Zones aren't linked nor is PI to either ferries or trains.

Plus great place to store 180 pieces of rare salvage.

I've burned a few hundred million inf for my personal bases (2 billion inf is an out of reach amount of money for me, since I don't enjoy doing the kinds of things that it takes to make that much money, though my 50 might have had close to 1 billion had I not burned so much of it). It's been well worth it.

Arc #271637 - Welcome to M.A.G.I. - An alternative first story arc for magic origin heroes. At Hero Registration you heard the jokes about Azuria always losing things. When she loses the entire M.A.G.I. vault, you are chosen to find it.

Moving slightly off the OP topic, I really hope they give a choice of opting in or out if they ever bring back base raiding. I wasn't around for it when it was functional and have no initerest in any of my bases being ripped apart for someone elses amusement. I have no issues with PvP related stuff so long as I can choose not to participate.

Other than that, by all means, bring on the base improvements!

As I recall both sides had to agree to the raid. You couldn't just drop in unannounced and tear **** up. But my memory on that could be faulty.

Exactly correct, Forbin. There was a time, with Items of Power, where the system was supposed to be set so that you had raiding "windows" where other SGs could raid and steal the IoP, but it was never fully realized. The base raids that existed were only for fun/PvP practice/bragging rights and had to be purposely scheduled between SGs.

Nice, cheers to you both. A little before my time! If they bring it back like that then, then go PvPers, have fun! Not my thing, but to each their own so long as all have a choice. Like when I wanted badges from the PvP zones, I rolled the dice and took my chances.

Anyway, enough of me babbling off topic, cheers again and i'm done
