  1. For the record, Crey's Folly is also good for hunting Crey (who'da thunk?), which you need for the level 30 costume slot mission from the tailor in IP.

I usually grab both missions once I hit 30, then truck on over to CF to take care of both at once. And Crey, like Freaks, show up in slightly easier-to-manage groups on the way through Brickstown if you want to hunt on the way.
  2. The issue isn't the clipping with robotic arms, it's the textures no longer matching.

The clipping problem is that it now clips through itself ever since that new plate was added under the large one on the right side.

I assume we're talking about grenades.

But it's not really clear, so I'm just guessing. Pretty sure I'm close. Which counts in horseshoes and hand grenades.
  4. There's a lot of powerleveling and AE farming on every server, Virtue is no exception.

But there's a lot of other stuff happening, too. It's usually not hard to find non-farming teams, TFs, or RP. Especially if you steer clear of Atlas Park.

I'd recommend joining the "Virtue LFG Alpha" global channel if you want to make finding a "real" team even easier. Or hook up with a decent SG. Or both.
  5. To be fair, a lot of other MMOs are basically a mad dash to the end-game... gotta level up to the cap quick so you can get to the good content, kit yourself out with the good gear, see the good stuff.

New players may not realize that CoH spreads out the good stuff instead of loading up the back end. They're just trying to get through the slow, boring, grindy stuff they assume is the only alternative, so they can play the end-game that they assume is where the fun really is.

Not that I'm justifying the behavior, just offering up a possible explanation.

Dude, everyone is gonna get those sets. They'll most likely be released with Going Rogue, but a free update for the game in general should flesh them into any archetype with access to it. They'll have to do some kind of general update to the game when GR is released, otherwise redeemed villains won't be able to see powersets for heroes or vice versa, as that's how it stands now. Not to mention there would probably be some glitchy things going on without at least a slight tweak to the game now that different archetypes are running around everywhere.

All this tinfoil hattery going on is grinding my last nerve. Everyone seems thoroughly convinced that you're only going to get Dual Pistols and Demon Summoning if you buy GR and I just don't know where it's coming from. Yes, super boosters exist, and yes Super Science has the size change thing included with it, but that doesn't mean that we'll have to pay for new powersets when they come out.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Actually, if the CoV launch is any indication, there will be a great many things that may or may not be exclusive to GR. This might very possibly include powersets like Dual Pistols or Demon Summoning or anything else they may add. When CoV launced, there was a general update to the game to bring CoH up to speed with it, but there were five entire ATs, many of which included powersets that were or still are unavailable to blueside characters, and whole bunch of costume options, among other things, that you couldn't use if you were just packing a plain ol' CoH code.

And by the way, heroes can see villain powers and vice versa now. That's how PvP zones work. Which is not to say there probably won't be an overhaul of certain things to let the older games "catch up" to the new one, but there's nothing there now preventing anyone from having access to anything.

What was the reason they gave for removing the face and skirt?

    [/ QUOTE ]
Well, the skirt thing happened a while back to everyone with a skirt. They all just spun around sideways for some reason, even on NPCs. Once the bug was eliminated, fixing it was as simple as visiting the tailor and editing the costume. But BadStorm can't do that without losing the character's face, too.

For a while (still to this day? I don't actually know), there were a number of skirt-wearing NPCs, for example Jezebel Jones inside the Golden Giza, that still had the things on sideways, as contacts and the like don't ever go to the tailor.
  8. I only ever used the Gladiator shoulders on one costume.

In general, I like the new version better. But on that one costume, I much prefer the old one, because the texture much more closely matches the tech skin for the robotic arm I was using it with. Now it doesn't look like a single unit anymore, it looks like a robotic arm and an armored shoulder plate being worn over it.

Plus, the old one didn't clip through itself like the new one does, at least on that guy. Within seconds of being forced to change to the new piece (at least I managed to try it out on my second costume so I can leave his first slot untouched), I noticed the bottom plate on the right side poking straight up through the larger top one (and not just a little bit). That never happened with the old version.

So I guess you can put me in the camp of, "new stuff is always nice, but there's really no reason to replace the old stuff instead of just adding to it."
  9. That's not a feature of the new issue. It's part of the ten-dollar science booster that's being released soon (but not today).
  10. Are you absolutely sure you beat every single member of the hero's group? Because you have to take down the whole group, not just the hero. Usually they'll show up with at least two Longbow agents, more depending on your difficulty and the size of your team. A mastermind may have an easier time getting them all since the AI is taking care of part of it for you. A stalker has to be more measured about things, and it's easy to miss one if, say, they run away while you're fighting their friend.

    FOR SCIENCE

Yep, it's over. I just tried again myself. All of the changes I made last night are still there, but I can't make any new ones with the science pack features. So the Test copy of Doctor Roswell has a female costume slot for... apparently a while.

    FOR SCIENCE

Things I'll definitely use it for:
<ul type="square">[*]My illusion controller will change body types to simulate his being a disembodied consciousness which possesses different people for a few days at a time and uses their bodies to facilitate his crimefighting endeavors. Right now, all five costume slots are the same, but with different auras. No more![*]My Bucky homage may be split into male and female versions, explained away as two characters with similar abilities fighting crime under the same name. Or he may get a full-on sex change to keep him (her) extra safe from the generic bat. Not that I think he's in any real danger, but you never know.[*]My invulnerability tanker will get taller when she changes from her civilian identity to her metal form. I've already been playing with scales to make her look stronger when she armors up (wider shoulders, a slightly heavier build, etc.); this will just be a logical extension.[*]My stone tank will finally have a normal-sized "human" form.[/list]And that's just my plans for characters I've already got.

    Server Down?

A few hours, generally. They're usually back up by about 11am Eastern, if not earlier.

They look to be coming back up now, actually... I'm seeing their status as "Unknown," which is usually a sign they're being re-started.
  14. If the colorization ends up anything like way auras are currently, then all the people wanting an "almost invisible" option should be pretty happy. All the people wanting a "black" one probably won't be, though.
  15. Soldiers? What a rip-off!

(Actually, don't worry about it, I've already got the DVD edition goodies. Just saying, not everyone in the military is a soldier, per se.)

The President has been kidnapped by ninjas. Are you a bad enough dude to rescue the President?

Yes, it's lame. But it's mostly just my "test drive" of the system. Plus, it keeps alive the storied 8-bit tradition of palette swapping!
  19. Liefeldian is awesome. I love that he doesn't have real feet. Needs more pouches, though.

My wife and I once spend an entire night running around Atlas Park on Justice as Suctionette and Failure Knight. Basically we just hung out around Ms. Liberty and talked to each other in Local about how inept we were and did /e cower a lot. It worked out pretty well for us when the Rikti invaded and stood there and let the other heroes do all the work while we did /e cheer and told them all about how great they were and how we wished we could do something, but we just weren't very good superheroes.

Then we put an NPC named Wilfredo on follow and kept asking him why he wouldn't talk to us, what we'd done to upset him, et cetera. A couple of people found it entertaining enough to follow us around and try to help us patch things up with Wilfredo, until we were beaten by a group of level 1 Hellions.
  20. I had to give this one a shot. I think the original design was near-perfect, but I also agree with some of the other suggestions here; namely, lightning was the wrong pattern for the pants and that the shield just doesn't look all that agile or "foxy."
