Question about Virtue

Recently I have been looking at leaving my home server and moving my more playing characters to a server that does more than just AE farming/PL etc. I have heard that Virtue is a pretty good server with a nice population.

My question though is do people team on Virtue or is it just more AE farming, power-leveling with role-playing mixed in?

There's a lot of powerleveling and AE farming on every server, Virtue is no exception.

But there's a lot of other stuff happening, too. It's usually not hard to find non-farming teams, TFs, or RP. Especially if you steer clear of Atlas Park.

I'd recommend joining the "Virtue LFG Alpha" global channel if you want to make finding a "real" team even easier. Or hook up with a decent SG. Or both.

FUN FACT: That burst of light when you level up is actually the effectiveness escaping from your enhancements all at once.

Doctor Roswell pretty much just summed it up.

Like the martial said, if you're expecting a server without farming and the powerleveling, Virtue isn't any different. There isn't a dedicated RP server which I assume that if there was the presence of farming and PLing would be lower.

Either way it's fun no matter where you go if you meet the right people.

Very cool. thank you for the information.

To the OP I have been doing the same and this weekend I took the plunge basically comparing Virtue and Freedom.

I chose my normal playtime and logged into each server comparing ping times and Atlas park activity.

Freedom and Virtue of course had more toons online than the others, but there was a near 200ms+ more ping time on Freedom and dropped packets. Virtue ran as smooth as my home server.

Did a few levels on each server still comparing and Freedom's Broadcast was horrible ( Basically like stepping into a AE/FARM/PL factory) and I had numerous toons just intentionally grief my lowbie. Now I'm not saying this sums up Freedom as a whole, just my experience.

Virtue reminds me of CoX of old. I put up my LFG on my lowbie and I'm always getting invites. I was invited to a *gasp* Hollows team. I haven't been able to run a toon at the low levels in what seems like years. There was alot of activity in all the zones I peeped in and caught a Hami Raid forming on my normal playtime. I was sold.

Kind of weird though seeing RPr's everywhere and learning what "(( ))" means. The RPr's seem ok, thought they might have a elitist complex, but It's cool when I try and play along.

All in all the game seems new all over, just trying to find a good SG now. Well hope this gives you some info from someone who was in the same boat.

"Welcome to Virtue! Where everyone is either a farmer.. or role-playing a farmer's blossoming daughter!"

But.. to give you an idea of the non-agricultural fare available, in the last three hours, there was: a Hamidon raid, at least four Rikti ship-raids, numerous calls in globals for TF/SF's, and some entertaining role-play next to the lav in the Talos tram.

And to add to what the always lovely Angel said, for what it's worth, I get non-AE invites in pretty much every level range daily, and that's when I *don't* have my LFT flag up (INcluding one ITF invite on my 47 scrapper night-before-last, but I was feeling sick so I had to sit it out. ANYway)

Thats awesome.

I pretty much knew Freedom was out of the question because I made a Blaster there a long time ago and the lag and annoyance of the people on the server made me move her to my home server.

I'm not too familiar with role playing since I never see them on my server, but I can deal with that if it means people team on a regular basis.

There's plenty of teams that don't RP, plenty of teams that do. Same with SGs. I made a few non-RP characters on Virtue before finally dipping my foot in with Stormy. It took off and was great. The RP for him died out, I switched SG, and now he's ready for any SG member that joins and wants to RP. Sure, most of my characters have backstories, personalities, etc. but he's what me and the other co-SG leader call "The head of the RP division." But that's because he's my "main" and I'd be more focused on RP than the other leader will be. We both want to RP, so neither will be too far away from that.

Some have an elitist complex, some don't. Just like non-RP'ers.

As someone who came to Virtue from another server(Infinity) I love it here. I moved about a year ago after spending a year on Infinity and instantly felt welcomed. I wasn't familiar with RP at all when I came here and was at a complete loss over why people were putting parenthesis around what they typed. As I asked questions I always found someone friendly to help me out along the way and have made some good friends here. Any time someone is looking for a new server I always suggest Virtue, It's just a fun, friendly place to be.

Well this is excellent information to know. I have heard good things about Virtue from a couple friends that have characters there.

I have never RP'd, but all of my characters have backstories and personalities, but I don't play them 'in-character' like some people on my server do. It will take some getting used to being around RP'ers, but from what I have heard its no different other than how you respond to people and if it would make it more interesting for me I would be willing to try it out.

I'm entering into a new state after getting my 15 month vet badge. I want to keep getting my characters up in level, but my altitis is setting and I'm not really in a big hurry to level them. I've also gotten myself more into RP by finding much entertainment in RPing with them. However, I've not gotten myself completely one way or the other at this current point. Hopefully I'll get a few more 50s before I decide to sit down and live with what I have.

I'm interested in trying out the whole RP thing, but I don't know if I could get the hang of typing "(())" around everything I type although I understand thats how people differentiate between real world and role play chat.

Now I need to decide how many characters I will move and who I will move.

The whole (()) thing has me to, I'm thinking the RP'rs have a macro set-up for it?

I moved a total of 200.00 dollars worth of characters, yeah I know. I just couldn't leave any soldier behind.

I messed with RP for a little while and had a bind setup to insert (OOC) in front of what I was typing instead of using (()). Seemed faster to me and it's basicily the same thing.

You can't actually bind the (( and )). You can have a bind to start with ((, but you have to close it manually.

After a while, it kindda comes natural. :P

I'd also suggest creating a character specifically for RP. That's what I did when I made Stormy, and he's now my best and favorite character to play with. As I said, I don't RP with him much any more atm.

Wait I'm confused, so (OOC)=(())? I thought (()) meant it was RP chat.

Opposite way, (( OOC comments here )).

No.

(( This is OOC comment ))

In an RP environment, unless what you say is in brackets, or what you say is just plainly obviously OOC, you're assumed to be in-character. :P

Edit: There is also the fourth wall that gets broken alot. :P

This.

I never could get used to that. Only because, when when running mixed teams (roleplayers and non-roleplayers), we always welcome the roleplayers to remain in character.. but it's odd to see the chat in the sense that a non-roleplayers inherent OOC is the same as the roleplayers un-punctuated IC.

And then, usually after a few missions, everyone casually falls into OOC so you'll see a field of the role-play standard OOC (( )) and non-roleplayer standard non-(( )) which all means the same thing.. I think I just confused myself again.

At any rate.. I often thought it would make sense if conversations made in-character were framed by the parenthesis.

Oh Wow, I was teaming with a RP'r and since he didn't do (()) I thought he was talking OOC. No wonder some of his comments were borderline loony.
