  1. That picture of me gut-shooting right through the minotaur, point-blank, is way too cool for words.
    .
  2. Count me in! I had a blast last time. I'll be bringing Sceptred Isle (Bane VEAT) again ... for a few shards more.
  3. Nice, DW! (My character's 'dude ranch' outfit on the far left really stands out in that shot!)
    .
  4. Sunday's fine. My AOE bullet-spraying Bane Spider Soldier -- Sceptred Isle -- dinged 35 and he's got himself gussied up in some red-white-and=blue dude ranch duds. He'll be there with bells on (not mention double Assault toggles).
    .
  5. He's not western -- he's detective film noir -- but I have an assault gun Blaster at that level range, as well a gun-totin' huntsman Bane Spider Soldier that's just a whisker short of 35. Count me in, Valor.

I had a lot of fun on this TF. Thanks for organizing and running it.

I took my brand new Hero corrupter (he just hit Hero a few minutes before, just in time for the TF). I found out the hard way, though, after the TF that the new GR options had somehow defaulted him to no XP/double INF while SSKed. My toon's first heroic mission was all about the money, not the XP, drat it! (You can take a villain out of redside, but you can't take the redside out of a villain...)
  7. I currently have 3 non-deleted deleted characters. The first was deleted yesterday before the store fix. The last two this morning after the store fix. The common trigger seems to be no empty claimed slots on the server at the time of deletion.

The bug happened to both level 1 name "placeholders" I'd made for new GR toons, and a two-year=old level 32 character I no longer play.

The non-deleted characters act as if the'y're deleted upon deletion, and the slot "empties," but when you exit the server and return, the character is "back." No body, no costume, just an invisible nothing. You can log on with the non-deleted characater. It will have no primary or secondary powersets, just inherents. You can fight with brawl and be attacked. A level 1 character in this state can even earn enough xp to reach level two, but without powersets, you can't actually level up at the trainer. You can spend a vet costume change token and get a costume so the character is at least visable, but once you log out, all changes, costumes, expereience, etc. is wiped. It isn't retained.

Also, the name check feature will show the name of the deleted characater is available, but if you try to create a toon by that name, the name is taken.
  8. I like it here on Liberty and I like all of my prestige going to one existing solo SG base, not scattered between servers. I used the last round of free transfers to consolidate all of my viable heroes over to Liberty from Freedom, Virtue, and Triumph. (I was pretty scattered when i started playing.) This round I'm transfering all of my side-switching villains off of Infinity over to Liberty.

Between a half dozen villains moving over and more than a dozen new characters planned for starting in Praetoria, I'm running out of Liberty slots on both of my two acoounts. (I'm about at Steele's numbers.) I'm therefore moving a half-dozen of my least favorite existing Liberty characters in tye mid-30 leve range lover to whatever server has their names' open and parking them there.

I also wouldn't mind if the maximum number of slots on each server was raised.

Woot! Denver gets the event 1 hour early. (Now all I have to do is buy plane fare to Denver to earn my Oro portal!)
  10. I had a lot of fun as part of Task Force Comet. Got my werewolf and vampire badges, too. Big thanks to the folks who organized and ran the event last night.

I'm a horrible tank. I hate being the sole tank on a team. (Oddly enough, my teammates quite quickly develop simliar opinions of my tanking prowess.) Any activity, therefore, that guarantees me not to be the sole tank on a team is quite welcome. Allows me to dust off one of my poor neglected tanks and scrank to my heart's content, one brawl at a time.

Mighty, mighty Sands of Mu in eight-part harmony is sweet music to my ears!
  11. Then there's the original Golden Age limbless villain: Armless Tiger Man, foe of Captain America.

    Sweet Tooth

While rotating characters around for their day job badges, I noticed that one of my toons had a couple Candy Cane salvage pieces still in his inventory instead of in SG storage. Okay. I decided to make a pass through all of my heroes to check for Candy Canes, thinking I might find one or two more to put away in storage.

    Two-hundred and forty-two Candy Canes later ...

That's right. 242. I don't have the heart to check my villains ...
  13. Golden Age/Pulp era theme!

(All the cool Octogenarians and Nonagenarians are wearing it!)
  14. I hear on Triumph ("the pantless server") they use the Comic Sans-Culottes font ...
  15. No. Prior to Going Rogue, every player has access to every zone and every AT in the game simply by buying one retail box. Everybody gets the free issue updates. Except for a few non-game-changing frills in the booster packs (costumes, emotes, fluff temp powers). every customer has access to the whole game. COH is not only casual player friendly, it's wallet friendly.

One of the big reasons I continually turn down friends who invite me to play WOW with them is because in order to play with them I'm looking at having to buy not only the retail box just to get into the game, but what -- three? four? -- expansions. In the reverse situation, my friends coming over to COH, they'd only have to shell out for one box -- $9.99 if they pick up an discounted older version at Big Lots or somewhere like that. They'd instantly (well, instantly after the hefty initial download) have all the game I have.

Additionally, annual expansions with exclusive zones would segregate the game population some describe as too low. If they're too low now, imagine further dividing them into haves and have-nots. Forming teams would be more difficult: "Who here can has Expansion 2011? Oh, sorry, Doc Hornet ... we're gonna have to drop you from the team because everybody else wants to run the Almighty Dollar arc over in ExpansionLand." When GR's Praetoria opens up, the non-GR buyers are going to find themselves temporarily in the legacy COH/COV ghetto, teaming with what few other non-GR losers are around while the GR buyers are off in the exclusive area enjoying the new shiny. That isn't the COH game I know.

I see the Going Rogue expansion as a one-time necessary evil -- a means for Paragon Studios to capitalize a ramp up of staff for much needed changes to the game's tech. I'd be quite unhappy if it became their normal business model.
  16. While I'm not a big fan of the trifurcate TO/DO/SO sysetem, I don't have much problem telling the icons apart ... except for the Mutant SOs. The artwork is so "busy" I can't see the underlying color code. I hate those icons so much I only have one mutant character (my first) and refuse to make another one simply because of those danged mutant SO icons.
  17. Slash command: /payrent "SG Name".
  18. Thanks again Sisterhood for ogranizing the event. Had a lot of fun and finally dinged 35 on my very slow levelling FF defender so she can duke it out with Romans and Rikti in the coop zone events.
  19. I play both humanform PB and WS characters. Folks have pretty well covered the combat differences. One other key difference is green and blue bar management.

Both have self-heal powers -- PBs have garden-variety self heal and +Max Health powers, WS heal powers are targeted off enemies. PBs imo have just a slight edge in this category because they don't need targets and have a +Max health tool.

Endurance management is different matter. WSs can replace used endurance with two different end-drain tools; PBs can only conserve what they have left with one, repeat one, tool -- Conserve Energy. Definite advantage goes to Warshades. Not even close.

My personal preference are Peacebringers, but I do wish they'd pull an Electric Armor Energize fix with Peacebringer's Reform Essence and add Energize's endurance discount to get even close to parity with human-form Warshades.

    Sally's Extinct

If she's extinct, it's only been for a couple hours. Saw her this morning.
  21. So why no Ice Armor for scrappers?
  22. Fun, indeed. It went better for the old Bee Blaster after I grabbed some purple and orange candies.

I'm glad our pal in the Vanguard heavy is in the shot, too. He seem to be much more useful against the Jade Spider than a certain couple of surviving Phalanxers were (*cough*Statesman*cough*Synapse*cough*). Lamesters.

    Call of the Wild

Heh. One of the new sounds for I17 are husky dogs barking near COH's favourite Canadian Mountie, Detective Frasenbacker in Faultline.

Can I haz my Iditarod travel power now?
  24. Alternate theory for drop in Q1 2010 revenues:

Flip the orientation of the above graph and it dovetails pretty well with COH revenue chart 2008-2010.
