It would help if you said what your building the SD/ Tanker to do...PvE or PvP

Hi all,
I posted this in another thread but it might be better posted here
My solution for fixing AE in one fell swoop
a. Create a new non-AE server (label is AE-free zone) where everyone that wants the AE gone can go and play to their hearts content with absolutely no AE spam...
Or, a better option...
b. Take one of the existing low population servers, and completely remove the AE bldgs from that one server (label it AE-free zone), offer the entire population of the game one free server transfer per existing toon to whichever server they would like and then the problem is solved...
Just my $0.02 but this seems like an easy fix to me -
Hi all,
I've read through the posts so far and IMHO I think one easy answer is for the devs to either;
Just my $0.02 but this seems like an easy fix to me -
Just for the sake of argument I, once again, consulted Mid's to see about the +Regen v. ToHit Debuff for RTTC, and you are correct when Tanking 2-10 the regen is far superior but in a 1 v 1 PvP situation the +Regen is a negligable differance of +10-12 HP per sec...Again thats with no mitigation beyond the regular -3.5% provided by RTTC per sec.
However I concede your point about the +Regen and once again I am going to amend my build for more of a dynamic approach...Maintaining my +17% damage from sets while also generating the -TH Debuffs by the simple addition of 2 generic Healing IOs I accomplish everything RTTC has to offer I think...
I think with the addition of the -End debuff to the -Rch debuff this is a viable combination...I even managed another +3% global +Acc buff from the Deflated Ego set...

Took some advice and thought that the Heals were a bit over kill also...Luckly this character is still lvl 38 so I popped into Mid's and crunched some numbers and did a little swaping around and cheaply (Inf wise that is) managed another couple +% damage output...
Oh and I don't know which build you were talking about but I can't afford Numina's...Regen Tissues +regen put me back only 20 mil for the one I have (got it about 6 month ago). Which is why I went with DW Despair in RTTC instead of Heals...Besides the very nice set bonuses that come with DWD the -25% recharge for mobs and PvP comes in handy I think...

My wife and I have our two fav toon names, which coincidentally are both dark/darks...lol
My wifes - Blind Vengeance; Dark/Dark Stalker
Mine - Shadow of Vengeance; Dark/Dark Scrapper -
Just to throw my $0.02 in...
I really like this new booster, not for the normal to super tall/Powered armour form but actualy the other way...I have toons that are short 4' tall when they are super and normal height build when in civies...so this is gonna be great...
I already had a few toons that I wanted to be Henry Pym types with taking a serum and all, now I can go the whole Giant Man/Ant Man route by lvl 30 with normal scientist slot 1...Giant Man clone slot 2 & Ant Man clone slot 3...
Happy days...Now all we have to do is convince the devs to raise and lower the height caps to 1' tall on the short end and 10' tall on the high end...
Then actully giving us real Alt Power/AT builds that we could connect to costume slots...ah one can dream can't they... -
This is my WP/WM Tanker on Justice...She's sitting at lvl 38 right now but this is the plan I have set and slotting and sets are accurate as of lvl 38.
Going to purple my AoE (Probably Whirling Mace) and one of the ST melee attacks (probably Clobber)...Could use a couple Luck of the Gambler sets also.

Hmmm I'm wondering if the rewards are dialed down for bigger teams...I did it again solo and I had the same results as Core Breach...Even a bit higher Inf than he reported with my Lvl 50 Tanker...
When I did the mission with full team of 8 the XP/Inf tanked again...and everybody complained, and eventually quit due to such low XP...
Does any one know if there has been a Dev post about XP/Inf getting nerfed for larger teams in AE?
I appreciate all the help BTW guys...I know you probably have beeter things to do...heh -
Just for the record...
My Trip Mine + Time Bomb tactic is based on timeing the TP Foe correctly, additionally I usually layed a layer of Caltrops over the "Circle of Death" site also, so even if the Time Bomb was not set of by the initial Trips exploding the person TP'd wasn't going anywhere fast enough to avoid the Timer going off...I did mention that "If you think you can pull it off" + "Lay 4-6 Trip Mines in a circle" I time my big hits like this down to 2-5 secs of Time Bomb going off...
So I should have amended my original post to say that Trip Mines may set off the Time Bomb...It might just be that the toons I have snaged with this tactic had Damaging Auras coming off them but I'm not sure...I actually respec'd out of Time Bomb a while ago because IMO Trips do the job just fine...
Oh and as a answer to the OP's question...;
I can get 5-6 Trips down + find a target + TP Foe before I worry about the 1st one going off from timer (Throw your Caltrops somewhere before the last mine is set to max productivity...hehe...I usually settle with a 4-5 Trips circle before I try to find a target...Remember I usually use this for PvP zone fun...
Additional Tips;
1. Add some [+Rng] & [+Acc] to your TP Foe...especially if you're going to try this in PvP.
2. Try 2[-Rech] 2[+Acc] & 2[+Dam] in Trip Mine or do what I did and go with a good PBAoE set...
3. Be prepaired to fight after you do this because it REEEAAALLLLYYY pisses people off in PvP...hahah -
Some added info...I knew I would have to provide this IDK why I didn't in the original post...
To Catch a Snake (Sorry forget the mission ID #...at work right now so I can't check)
Mission lvl 50-54
Rescue 1 captive; Tyrant (Leaves after rescue)
(Being guarded by High lvl Archnos for questioning, they're not really sure who he is...Reoccuring theme in my missions Tyrant has been testing out a new Dimensional Teleporter...with mixed results.)
Allies; 1 EB Tank (Cpt James Harris PPD my real toon on Guardian) will join after you defeat his guards
(AVs brother looking to "Rescue" him)
Mission Objective; Defeat AV (Snake Harris)
(AV MM w/Poison secoundary...My real LVL 50 MM on Guardian)
Mobs consist of LTs & Bosses lvls 48-52 they get progressivly tougher as you approach the AV at the end.
LT's (Lost Boyz)Dual Blade Scrappers w/ Super Reflex Def
LT's (Tough Boyz) SS Tanks w/ Super Reflex Def
Bosses (Gang Girlz) Thug MMs with Super Reflex Def
(Settings for all three; Hard Offence set - Hard Defense set)
Mission has Patrol; The Family w/Boss & Minnions...They're looking for the AV also to settle a score..Agro set to all so they will take on anyone thats gets close to them.
XP sucks from beging to end...Regardless if the Ally is helping or not...
(Note; I have played alot of AE missions and I am an 18 month Vet so I'm not a noob to the game I know what XP should look like with the types and dificulties of the mission I made and what I see is not even 10% of what I think it should be.)
-
Oh how I love my AR/Dev Blaster...
Favorite tactic...
Lay 4-6 Trip Mines in a circle...TP Foe into the circle...KABOOOOOM!!!
If you're really good and you think you can pull off the Time Bomb in the center even better...Trip Mines will set off the Time Bomb...(Sigh...brings a tear to my eye thinking of the good times....)
Takes some time to set up, and you definetly need to slot your Trip Mines with some -Rch (Got mine down to about 8 sec rch 6 sloted Obliteration...woot!), but who cares...hahahahah...
(Added Note: If this happenes to you, while your cruising around in RV on the Pinnacle Server...Your welcome...heheheh)
-
I have a couple missions published in the MA...Both have stories, one is actually a story linked to the June-Fan Fiction story in City Scoop...The Price of Fame
But my question is;
Why is the XP so very low for std Minion and LT spawns in the mission...When I say low, I mean very very low...Level 50 Minions give 7-8 XP to lvl 12-20 characters...LTs give 15-30 XP to same...am I doing something wrong?
On both missions, characters are Auto SK'd to 50 just because there are AVs involved in both, so better to up everybody's level than screw up the story IMO.
Basically I ask because I want people to play my missions but if the XP is completly terrible, as it is now, they just quit after the 1st encounter and never go throught the mission. -
Funny that I read this post today as last night I had someone offer me 1 mil for a spot on my PUG MA team that I had just filled...
I told them that I don't charge for being on any team I start in the MA and they seemed suprised...So I think this may be a bit more prevalent than anyone may even guess...
While I don't think that charging toons for door sitting PL'n is bad, I don't allow anyone to door sit when I bring them into a team. Everybody must try to participate and help with mobs or they get the royal boot pretty quick as soon as I get the idea that they are not going to participate...
So, I'm sorry to all the entrepreneur's out there but I am still giving it away for free.
Happy Hunting -

As a comparison I am posting my WP/SS Tanker...I don't understand why you have so much slotted into movement and +movement IOs but I'll assume you have a reason...
[/ QUOTE ]
Well personally, I just like having ground unsuppressed movement speed. When I lead Tank I like to set the pace and I want that pace to be fast.
I see you don't have SoW...I can almost see why you don't, I mean I have only used mine for the recovery bonus and I have always thought about dropping it but I just can't get rid of that extra survivability.
[/ QUOTE ]
SoW is kind of redundant on most WP Tanker builds IMHO...Plus, it's another crash power and I have done all I can to just get oevr the Rage crash w/o Purple Sets at this point of course...
Invulnerabiliry's Unstoppable and SA's Granite Armor make SoW kinda look anemic...except for the Psi Res you get I don't see why most WP Tankers would want it... -
I'm having a lot of trouble trying to fit Rise of the Phoenix into my FA/SS/Pyre build...
This toon is mostly PvEm, maybe alittle PvP...
Do I need it? -

In that you can pick what map & mobs to farm, Fire/Fire/Pyre all the way.

I think farming is a boring waste of time. Play the game instead.

I wonder how many times this poster's been told, "MMOs are a waste of time, get a life instead."

Directly? Never. Through insinuation? Anything can be construed as a waste of time.
If you really believe its a waste of time....why are you here?

Lol'd at this response...I think Derangedpolygot duncked to early cause the previous comment went right over his head...
Oh and back on topic once again...even if some are trying reeeeallllyyy hard to turn this into yet another Anti-Farming thread...
I vote SD/SS/Pyre FTW in farming tanks...Shield Charge + Foot Stomp = Well tilled soil... -
My favorite toon that I took to 50 was my WP/SS Tank, Agent XXX...
Also the only 50 I jump on often just to go kick some baddie butt...9 or 10 ITF under his belt so far...
Also, suprisingly enough, I had a blast (literaly) playing my AR/Traps Blaster, Ms Merc to 50...She was actually a toon I made for my wife but she lost interest in the toon in the mid 30s so I took it from there and had a ton of fun...TP Foe FTW with this toon...
Added Edit:
My wife wanted me to also add that her favorite was her TA/Arch Defender, T n' A Specialist...Lvl 50 as of May 09'... -
As a comparison I am posting my WP/SS Tanker...I don't understand why you have so much slotted into movement and +movement IOs but I'll assume you have a reason...
I haven't even started with Purples and I don't have near the amount of +regen/+recovery IOs that you have but I think that the two Tanks are comparable...

I love my Tanker's because...
No other AT makes me talk to the screen like Bruce Willis, Arnie Govenator, The Rock, or Mr. Stallone.
When I jump into the middle of a huge mob of bad guys and the hits start comming and I get to stand there and shout at the screen...
"IS THAT ALL YOU GOT...!!!"
Gimme Minions, Lts, Bosses, EBs, AVs, even the occasional GMs...and I still stand there shouting...
"IS THAT ALL YA GOT...!!!"
When I cruise the PvP zones with no fear and the sneaky, squishy Stalker AS's me from behind and tries to make a run for it, I get to shout...
"IS THAT ALL YA GOT...!!!"
Yeah, I love my Tanker's...

This...Minus the killing people part... -
I remember there was a gal way back when Magneto had Asteroid M that incresed all the powers of her team, which was her Mutant ability, but I can't remember her name.
Also in a wierd tangent kind of way there are some Device Villians like The Tinkerer, Fixer, Power Broker (Dr. Malus) and The Leader in Marvel and Tom Thumb in DC that have no physical powers but greatly increased other peoples powers with their Brilliant Minds...I guess they would be like Petless MMs in a weird kind of way, and all but the Tinkerer carried various weapons of their own design at one point or the other.
Oh and don't forget the Ultimate in Hero Support, the Mighty, Stupendous, Titanic Rick Jones...Freind to all persons in tights, and shredded purple pants! -

After a large of numbers of posts regarding certain actions of the devs does anyone think
1. They give a !@#$ what any of us think?
[/ QUOTE ]
They presumably care about the bottom line.
They must figure that alienating goal and performance motivated gamers will somehow result in a net gain in the future.
[ QUOTE ]
2. Care that people have and will stop playing this game because of their actions?
[/ QUOTE ]
See #1.

3. Care that they will lose more people to their soon to be rivals... champions online?

CO is going to stink on ice.
It would be great if it was a good game, since it would serve to keep them from power tripping so hard, but it isn't a good game, and wishing can't make it so.

Though as a side note DCUO looks very nice...DCUO game demo looked interesting and the Acrobatic Wall Crawling travel power should be something CoX should look to steal ASAP...hehAdditionally I would love for my SS Tank to be able to pick up cars and buses and throw them at baddies...
