Daer Ghost Falcon,
I read the thread title and thought " Yay!!!! FINALLY the Million's of prestige monolith( you know the BASE my vg built) will have a use and be back in action!! " Then I read the thread and absorbed that COP is returning as a PVE feature. Next thought I had was " O well.. probably a good thing since it would be an awful lot of work to recontact all the vg members that have quit the game and try to get them back here or recruit new members anyway. "
My sub is almost expired but I still pop in when my current gaming passion is down for maintenance. I went to pay the vg rent last Tuesday during such a time and for kicks looked up the top sg/vg's.You know what, GF? I was dismayed to notice that a vg which hasnt had active member activity in over a year is STILL in the top 15. Not only that..... 11 of the top 20 on this particular server are comprised of s/vg's much like mine who have been retired for a year or longer. It is a sad thing when the current player population cannot overtake old, retired s/vg's. I mean , c'mon...... these guys//gals have had easier prestige earnings and much lower base costs for some time now. What's the deal,GF??
I don't get it. COP was a s/vg activity. The reward provided buffs and an incentive to promote base raids. Capturing an IOP wasn't intended to be some namby, pamby pve incentive was it?
Sir? For the love of God, Budha, Satan,Mother Earth, Razoule..... who tf ever you believe in please(I don't personally ever type the A word deity) just admit how badly the pvp changes have been received and roll it BACK until you come up with a better plan. Reintroducing COP as a nonpve feature is nothing but another slap in the face to the pvp community.Fine... they are used to it. However, this version of "bend over bish" or "shaddup and swallow" takes the cake. If you all area actually going to do this COP thing as pve? PVP DESERVES A COMPROMISE. Roll the crap back and reinstate baseraids until you can devote the time needed to pvp.
Sincerely,
DB ( aka@Southern.. Meli to friends and crazybitchfromhell to enemies)
P.S. You actually had me excited for a moment there,GF. Please forward my thanks to the wonderful development team for yet one more disappointment.Alot of people have been putting their money where their mouths are for quite some time . The results are now just beginning to show in earnings reports for the game. You are perfectly capable of validating the s/vg information I cited above very easily. If you would like group names so you can access pm me. LOL@377 days offline over 100 players in ONE group!Multiply that off ONE server times 11. Then add in other similar servers and THEN add in higher population servers... GHEEZ!!!!! WAKE THE FRAK UP, DEV'S.
P.S.S. edited to say Thank you for having the balls to deliver this news about COP and in such a positive, delightful manner. Cheers!!! -
Simple solution: Don't play AE if you don't like it.

I remember many cold builds running the zones back before I13. It wasnt because the damage on ice was so awesome back then either. It was the -Movement Speed and -Recharge that made it so powerful. The -Recharge on it in today's PVP is still a reason to look at the set IMO, especially IF you have a more resilient build or are buffed and can survive long enough to leverage the -Recharge.
The time now is not before issue13. Thats a great big ,fat "IF"......... -
You aren't insane. Your dom will be fun and is one of the more easily io'd combo's to boot.

Quote:This is why the PVPEC was created,Kat. It's the PVPEC's job to create live events for all of the players with an interest in pvp. It isn't the responsibility of the ladder people to hold hands and indoctrine players. It is their(ladder guys//gals) job to provide a standard of example for great team play. It's the pvpec's job to provide events for novices and those that don't make the cut on a ladder team.At the same time the Pvpec should do blatant advertising about when ladder matches and practices will occur. That allows players with a taste to go observe and begin to understand what's needed to be on a ladder team.I disagree. During the test ladder there was ALWAYS small server events going on simutaneously. Tvplp or whatever it was called also ran simutaneously. There should be no conflict being matches are scheduled rather than having to be weekly. Only an idiot would schedule a match for both at the same time if they know they have players participating in both.
As far as it causing a division between players trying to run a test league successfully and those that would prefer to stay on live....ummm shouldn't pvp be promoted for everyone, not just the highend test leaguers? I realize that may be the only pvp that you personally care about but the world doesn't revolve around you and there are others that are not of your calibur that want organized pvp as well.
The whole bench warmers get cycled in to best 2 out of 3 rounds is bull and you know it. Every single test team I was on rarely even let the benchwarmers play practice matches against other teams more less do an official match against other teams. Being all the teams I was on you probably would label as ****** I am sure the top notch team (s) you were on surely didn't let crappy people start just to be nice. On the occassion that a subpar player was allowed in an official it was ONE match and ONLY if it was against a team they were confidant they could beat even with carrying someone subpar. That is the way it should be. I agree 100% people should have to take their licks and earn their way up. However there still needs to be an avenue for regular, crappy, noobs players to have organized pvp, regardless.
I can think of atleast 30 players from the current league that want to continue organized pvp that will never get on any of the teams so far that are showing interest. There are probably twice that many that expressed interest in joining the league that couldn't mid season that might join the next great event planned if they could get a team. They also would never be picked for any of the teams showing interest in a ladder. Sorry but to me those people deserve organized pvp just as much as the ladder people do.
I don't think the answer here for the ladder stuff is an open draft or splitting teams. The answer is letting the Ladder Captains run as they see fit ( with the teams they choose). Then the PVPEC steps up with more server events for people wanting to get their feet wet. In addition, it's alot easier to do events on ONE server. Barrage Freedom with events from lvl 4's to even perhaps a 1 v1 melee ladder. Add a zone war. There are many things that can be done to entice new pvp or semi interesteds without messing up the ladder.
I will happily volunteer time to doing server things for new pvp players on Freedom and know a few others willing to do the same.Beat ya to that whole" If you don't like it than volunteer !!" response.
In short, the Pvpec shouldn't be involved in the ladder at all. Theres plenty more stuff PVPEC could be doing to facilitate pvp.Guys and gals on the ladder are already participating in pvp as established groups.
disclaimer:^^ that's imho. -
My advice is get your son off video games and into sports or more family activities that don't involve a computer.
Disclaimer: ^^^^^ is my opinion and in no way an insult to your parenting. -
Quote:Doms ARE immensely fun to play. so far they are my favorite AT. Even my craptacular building skills can manage to make most combos fun and I can't say that about any other AT including scrappers and blasters.
Yea.. thank you Castle for the great dom changes!!! When can we expect blasters and scrappers to get a similar overhaul?? I cannot wait!!!! -

Quote:Sorry but if you are seriously PvPing, then you're already at HP cap or close enough to it to not even matter. Sure, Frostworks has it's uses on "Fail" pvp teams but that doesn't mean by any stretch that the power doesn't suck. Cold shields have better use in PvP than FW, and that's pretty pathetic on FW part considering how much +Def sucks in PvP.
This response is pretty off topic but I really can't resist.
To the poster quoted: No offense but the term for a bad pvp team is "phail". Like , you "seriously" pvp enough to know anything about it? These days most will skip the shields alltogether since they get dr'ed so hard its better to have another "pew pew" or in some cases make room for phase and Hiber.Just depends on the character and playstyle.
To reiterate: FW doesn't suck and its alot more useful than any sheild. In addition , io's pretty much cover softcapping defense in pve play. Add external buffs that actually work the way they should(unlike in pvp) and any character is nigh unstoppable in pve .
Op? Sorry to go off topic. -
Quote:theres a reason she/he was so adamant about it sucking
>.>
<.<
pssst. *because it does*
This is completely your opinion, PC guy.
Frostworks is great for people not already at the hp cap. Frostworks is great on static teams. Frostworks is great on pvp teams with set builds across the participants.Think about it..... one power with minimal slotting basically allows any group to io for bonuses other than + hp.
Sure, not every player will agree or disagree about that particular power but to state " frostworks sucks" as a fact just because you think so is plain silly.
I loved teaming with /cold corrs when I ran my veats. I bet you can't even guess why..lol. -
I think thats why Nuk nukes are "pertinent".
-
Like...ouch??
Har har har.. ;D
P.S. I'm not your friend. Wake up and realize that bases will get nothing just like pvp got nothing other than being dumbed down . Go ahead and do your little crusade. It won't make a diddly squat bit of difference. What you people fail to recognize is that the whole hype around bases involved PVP. Bases won't be fixed until pvp is fixed. Thats a nobrainer. Keep pissin in the wind.. -
I call things like I see them. My apologies if I offended anyones delicate sensibilities.
-
People you have fun teaming with regardless of deaths or success.

Quote:I'm pretty sure that Ironblade meant that he wants to stay in his SG because he likes teaming and hanging out with those folks - and there are some advantages to having a large steady group to call on (that is less than an entire global channel). A really tricked-out base with all the amenities is handy to have access to as well.
But - he also would like to have some place he could edit all on his own - to put his personal stamp on and keep his stuff safe.
In large SGs, you give up the storage security and base editing privileges in return for the amenities and comraderie.
In small (1-3 person SGs), you are really, really safe in putting your stuff in the base. You can go nuts decorating. But getting enough Prestige to do what you want might take a long, long time.
If I'm putting words in your mouth, Ironblade, I apologize.
I understand he wants a personal apartment within a sg//vg. Thats is easily achievable with the current state of bases. Bear with me a minute........ all it requires is a base leader with editing priveleges to design his room per his specifications. Voila!****.. my vg base on Guardian has 22 personal apartments designed specifically for each player that wanted one. Hours in vent. Still easily doable.
The thing that really GETS me is that prior to issue13 good ******* luck funding absolutely any prestige unless you were really hardcore with your group and grinding prestige daily. The devs cut all costs and you people still *****. The devs opened editing possibilities... and you people still *****.What in this game deserves to be worked for anymore? Seriously.....the majority QQ's and gets it almost free and still complains!! My large complaint about bases would be the removal of raids, iop's and the Cathedral. This thread is a ***** session about cosmetic irritations. Big ******* Woooo!!How about you all ask the devs to fix pvp so bases can once again be used as intended?Thats a little too far right field, huh? -
How about ask the pvp community how that worked out for them?? Get some tips and pointers and whatnot.
-
Quote:NOT if they also want to be in an SG with their friends.
We need to have personal apartments INDEPENDENT of SG membership.
No offense,Ironblade.
You are a flippin idiot if you can't figure out how this ability already exists ingame .If you'de like to see some personal apartments within a vg base please do pm me. I will be more than happy to give you a tour of private accomadations set for individual vg members.
In addition I am more than happy to accomodate a tour of completely non sg/vg affiliated apartments(condo's, lairs, wthe) as well.
P.S. Your quoted post is contradictory, Please state what you meant. -
Quote:This is true, but it doesn't have to be. If they do add player apartments, I think that would justify an entire issue being devoted to bases because then, EVERYONE could be a base builder.
Players already have this ability. It's called a "mini base". Albeit they are more condo's than apartments. The reduction of base costs a few issues back pretty much assured any player who wanted a secret lair could afford to construct one. -
Much?

I sort of feel sorry for these guys//gals. That's all. -
Quote:Sort of.... yellow taunt teams and hami taunt are still positioned as in a regular type raid . Somewhere this strat is posted over in Virtue forums but its hard to find because it isn't its own topic. Rather, Sandolphan(sp?) outlined the strat used on Virtue zergs in an existing thread. Doing this type of strat is really fun... as in "OMFG ICAN'T BELIVE WE DID THAT" kind of fun.True.. theres a little more prep work but that can be made fun too. I volunteer to be butchered by anyone that wants my codes.Ya know ya wanna kill me....zerg raid ain't the same as a no-retreat. a zerg means everyone buffs up (eats eoes as needed) and goes straight for hami till he's down.
Arwen? Just change the person X to a big group getting buffed and the y to hamidon. Voila!! -
Did you ever stop to think that perhaps the attention they got was not the kind they wanted??? Be careful what you wish for.....Even after continous well thought out and represented input from the pvp community they still got an implementation of pvp with issue13 that NOONE asked for or imagined. Please note the dates in the links below.See that? They are still trying to no avail.

Furthermore, posts like the Ops get nothing accomplished unless its already on the dev's agenda. The assumption that base builders are any more important than any other subfaction of the player base is ludicrous at best... assinine at worst. However, I would agree that there does seem to be a pattern of neglecting various subfactions by the development team. -
Guardian is the Fat People server. No offense but what other server can't do a redside Hami raid and has a thread about weightloss stickied?????(of course there is drama)
http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?t=134350
Justice does the most hami raids on a weekly basis and has really creative people(of course there is drama)
http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?t=206772
^^ thats a really fun arch btw.In addition a few hall of fame authors reside on Justice.
Virtue has catgirls( just like every other server) and some weird pvp that involves rp'ing and killing people in arena with WORDS and not powers. Virtue also has some kickass hami raids often with a twist.
Freedom has the most people that pvp and subsequently many new players because it's usually where they end up simply by being at the top of the list.
I think the other servers were covered except for Triumph.
That wiki article was written in what might be considered the dark ages of this game and has not been updated in how long??? I love how all you forum pvp'er , "knowitallNan's" love to use outdated material to derail an Op simply because your searchfoo is strong, you have nothing to say based on practical experience playing, but OMFG gotta pump that postcount!!. GG forum geeks!! -
