So you think your hot at making builds... help me make something for my Domi.

I have a build at the moment, but would like a few to compare it to..

Fire / Fire Dominator... Patron doesn't matter but there are a few things that I would like to see...


Soft capped defense
Perma Domination
Perma Hasten if poss
No crazy priced purples pls
lots of Aoe'ness.

This toon will be for PvE, farming, TF's and overall badging...

Do your best please.

I'm not great with builds but I thought I'd give it a try, some of the powers are a bit gimped though. 46.6% def to smashing/lethal and 68.8% recharge before hasten. Not all that familiar with doms so may not be what you're looking for, hope it helps

If you went Soul Mastery do you get a hold? Could go with another basilisk instead of the Posi set, free up one slot and get 1% more recharge.

Move the slot to combustion and go with Obliteration to replace the purples. Then swap one of the enfeebled operations with gravitational anchor to get your recharge back but using a much cheaper purple set. Also, frees up one slot. Should be close on the defenses.

Pull one off of weave, tough or scorpion shield, and the run speed/celerity off super speed. Add all three slots to boxing for Kinetic Combat. to pump up the defenses some.

Does that work or am I off?

you're gonna lose quite a bit of SL def if going Soul Mastery because of no scorp shield (drops to 25.5%).

dropped Disrupter Blast for Personal Force Field, and swapped combustion for bonfire, and 6 slotted for kinetic crash. Still need 1 purple set, but seeing the AA set is so much cheaper than Apocalypse.... well you can see for yourself

over all it has a slightly better recharge (@ 177.5% with haste), slightly less heavy on the toggle endurance(@ 1.27), and slightly better SL def cap (@ 46.1%)

I put Celerity in there just as an option for having stealth added into the build - could be dropped for BotZ or whatever

Drawback to this build is you do lose out on the extra AoE, but you do replace the single point immob with a cone attack, or you could keep RoF and slot with Decimation

I opted for a mish mash design, and dropped a little def for more end.

152.5% Recharge including Hasten and 46% Defense to S/L

wasn't really on the cheap... so far I have spent 1.6 Billion but I wasn't going to be taking things like apocs which are 500+ per io.

Well I've not actually got a Dom, I just thought I would take up the challenge of creating a build following the OP's list. An AoE permadom/permahaste, SL capped fire/fire, without crazy priced purps. I think my last build did exactly that

True and fair enough, you did meet the OPs criteria. My point was just that Blaze is easily the best power in /Fire so if the OP wanted to use one of your builds, they should probably to reshuffle some stuff to fit it in.

Edit: for reference, in the second build I'd drop Veng for it. Slot it by taking the 6th slot with the proc out of Imps and the Celerity Stealth out of SS and into Sprint.

I think it's a question of worth-it-or-not. While you did meet the OPs (frankly a little silly) criteria and props to you for doing so, I don't think it's worth it to meet them at the cost of losing Fire Blast and Blaze. I think it would be better to either lower the goals for the build or shell out some more.

However, until the OP posts a datachunk or build for us to work with I'm writing this one off.

well I took your advice Silas, and the best I could come up with was either perma haste (119.5) and just short of SL cap (44.2%), or SL cap (46.1%) and just short of perma haste (120.3). Both builds included blaze and fire blast, and only 1 power needs to be changed to alter between the 2 choices: combustion/hot feet (oblit set) for bonfire (kin crash set). Only way to have both SL cap and perma haste with Fire Blast and Blaze in the build would be to get a 2nd purple set, and it would have to be Apocalypse

As close as you are on permahaste you could swap the positron's blast in firebreath for Ragnarok. Not that that is any cheaper then Apocalypse, but there ARE other options.

Tactics is only giving 5% recharge. What if you put Combat Jumping there with a Gambler? That gives both defense and an extra 2.5% recharge.

Yeah there are a couple of purple options you could choose from by swapping powers around, eg: RoF for Fire Breath, Combustion for Hot Feet or Bonfire (in my latest build that is)

Wouldn't be able to drop Tactics for CJ, as the build is already using 4 pools: Fitness, Speed, Leadership and Fighting, and Vengeance requires at least 2 from leadership so that couldn't replace it either.

Looks good, Scene.

RoF vs Fire Breath..I would go with Fire Breath. It's a slowish animation but the added AoE is more useful than RoF since you've got Cages for immobilizing stuff and the blasts for ST damage.

I'd stick with Combustion over Hot Feet, especially since you're slotting it with Obliterations. Oblits give really crap end rdx and Hot Feet guzzles endurance like crazy. Fire/Fire can be an incredibly end heavy combo to begin with, Hot Feet without a lot of end rdx slotting and needing to spam Cages to keep stuff in it is brutal on the blue bar.

Rest of the build looks good, few tiny things I'd tweak though. Take the BU proc out of Blaze for the dam/end. The BU proc is pretty weedy and you want to make the most of Blaze. If you want to keep the BU proc, I'd put in Flares.

I'd also take the 5th slot with the proc out of Imps, move that slot to Blaze or one of your other end-expensive powers for an end rdx. On my Fire/Fire Dom, I've got Incinerate with 5 Hecas and 1 end rdx, Blaze with 5 Apocs and 1 end rdx. At incredibly high levels of recharge, without hefty end rdx slotting in your more expensive attacks you can tank your end bar in a hurry.

I'm at work so I can't run the numbers for your end consumption now, but I know for my Fire Dom my chains (Blaze-Blast-Incin for ST killing, Blaze-Char-Incin for bosses and up) sustainably without the end rdxes in Blaze and Incinerate.

Okay, replaced RoF with Fire Breath and added the spare slot from Imps to it as its more end heavy than blaze, with the options of going either ragnarok or apoc (or both) for further +rech
