Done, and it seems to be working - http://wiki.cohtitan.com/ showed up on page 11 for me when I searched for 'city of heroes'

Quote:That's because a MUSH wasn't a game. A MOO isn't a game either, and I was on and made friends on both of those mediums, one of whom I still chat with. Both of which allowed you to create your own objects using its own scripting language. Probably the reason why I got into Computer Programming.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MUSH
"A MUSH (sometimes said to be an abbreviation for Multi-User Shared Hack, Habitat, Holodeck, or Hallucination, though these are backronyms) is a text-based online social medium to which multiple users are connected at the same time."
Notice how they don't call it a game.
Wanna play Awesome CoH on MSN?
A MUD was a game. I also played WindsMARE (Multi-User Adventure Role-Playing Epic) for a long time, years at least. Eventually gave up because I had maxed out the current game and they were very slow on creating new content. It was definitely a game, and I didn't need graphics to enjoy playing it.
That said, I'm really excited for Ultra mode! I'm thinking of upgrading from Vista 32 to Windows 7 64 so that I can use my 4GB of RAM. We'll see though. -
Definitely make friends and have a regular badging group. Even find some people that have a lot of badges already, they can help you earn easy ones (assuming they're friendly!) - many times they don't mind earning the same badge twice, it was fun the first time (in most cases
).
And I completely agree with Angel, don't loose your **** in PvP zones. Accept the fact that you WILL get killed by someone. Accept the fact that on occasion, that someone will be a jack***. If you get frustrated, log off and try again later or find a badge that's not in a PvP zone to work at. -
Yay! I'm me again! Thanks, Niv!

Lolz
Yeah, see the little "+ button down there in the bottom right of the post? Just click that on all the posts you want to quote, and hit new reply. -
Good bye, AC! I certainly also thought you were much older than you are by your writing style, and that will serve you well in College.
TonyV made some great points, the one I want to reiterate is to get to know your professor and always ask for help! True story: I had the same professor for Physics 1 and Physics 2. Physics 1 I got an A in, mostly because I had already taken it in high school. Physics 2 kicked my butt, and I mean it *really* kicked my butt. I was getting anywhere from 20's to 60's on my homework and tests, and I was pretty convinced I was going to fail the class, so I asked the professor if there was any extra credit work I could do to keep me from failing. His response (he was russian, so this is how it still sounds in my head)? "Oh ___, I know you know how to pick up book and read how to do if you need to do it. I just give you B" And he did.
I also want to say that when it comes down to it, an addiction to a game is way better than an addiction to alcohol. You don't seem the type to go out every night and party, but the temptation is there. And honestly, most of your friends on here know that you're in school, right? They can bug you to study or go to bed, too, if you're ever on late. Granted, it's not foolproof, but it's still better than staying out late and drinking.
Also, someone mentioned trying to get books used, because they'll be expensive. I'd also suggest that you not get the books until AFTER the class has started. My freshman year I bought everything before classes started, and I ended up with at least 3 $50-$200 books that weren't even used for the classes. It turns out that all of the books that all of the professors want are listed - likely only 1 of them will be used for your class. -

Are you using the same login/password you use to get in game?

Quote:Yeah, because these boards don't retain threads like the old boards, you'd probably want to quote it anyway so that there aren't any misunderstandings as to who you're responding to. Threads are going the way of the dodo bird...Technically, yes, but if I'm responding to a post that's anything older than the latest, it's buried WAY down in there, and switching to it and back to typing is a hugely lengthy and cumbersome process. I don't suppose there's any way to retain the old usability of seeing exactly the post you're responding to conveniently? I suppose quoting it could work, but still...
Scroll down! There are 3 links, try clicking the first one, and then any number of the ones present on the next page. -
Quote:It's there, scroll down to where it says "Topic Review"*Do you have any solution to retaining the old ability to see the post you are responding to WHILE you are responding to it?
Quote:*Do you have any solution to getting nested quotes short of typing them out, ourselves?
Quote:*Is there any way to look at the code of another person's post so that we can see their tags and links directly?
Quote:*Is there any way to prevent our posts from being discarded mid-typing if we back out of the posting page?
Another hint: You can see where posts are deleted because post #s (in the corner) don't get re numbered when a post gets deleted. Useful for figuring out where the flamewar started.
If you want more information than you can stand, VB comes with a ton of stock information in the FAQ up on the top menubar.
Also, they can update the editor colors, it's just a giant pain in the butt. I know, I spent like 5 hours updating our forums to be white on black in the editor to match the white on black of the forums. -
Actually, you can get colored links without the stupid underscores. Just color the text before you link it. Also, you can get the link to any post just by clicking on the little #NUM in the top right corner.
-
Quote:See the little number in the top right of each post? It's a link to the postA runner-up for awesome forum feature for me would be a much easier way to obtain the link for individual posts.
Quote:Saving Searches.
While you could post certain search results before, you can just copy the URL at the top and post the search page itself. Even put it in, say, signatures. >.>
Also, <3 multiquote & sig pics. If I don't like the pic, I adblock it & will never have to see it again -
So I just adblocked all of the gradients and it is so much easier to read! Wish I could make the color a bit darker, but I'll take what I can get.
Also adblocking the sig images that I don't like, but I do that for any forum.
I also have the autopager plugin installed, so I 'view all' using that and it doesn't cause loading nightmares.
Likes: Ability to add images, I can report and block the bad ones, and I'll never have to see them again. Wasn't really a problem with avatars on the previous boards, so I'm not worried. I do like seeing peoples' creativity, and I like being able to put my badges in my sig
Dislikes: The whole login thing with no security is all sorts of bad. I really don't want to find all of my characters deleted and my credit card with tons of rename tokens on it because someone stole my password.
At least my nc account has a different password than here.
Overall, I like VB, so I'm a fan. Probably want to change up the emoticons, and you might want to consider making the edit boxes match the background and foreground of the post so users can see what it will actually look like. -
For those who like the "View All" install the AutoPager plugin on Firefox. It does basically the same thing, except it loads as it goes, so it's far less of a resource hog than actually viewing the whole thread.
-
Hm, I wonder what happens if your credit card expires during that time, if they'll give you a pass on it. I know that's happened to me at least twice, and I've fixed it immediately. Just checked mine to be sure, and it's set to 2012
Also, I'm 60 months on Nov 17th. Wonder where that puts me... -
*waves* at fellow badgewhores! Finally got Portal Smasher after collecting badges for over 4 years... I may have been putting it off...
-
I feel a little weird....like I grew a 3rd arm or something..

Quote:Excuse me, I <3 youBy default? Not currently. The admins can make it the default view, and probably will once they see the general clamoring for that option. In the meantime, you can bookmark the forums with this URL: http://boards.cityofheroes.com/forumdisplay.php?f=547
Also, when inside the forums, clicking on the "English" link at the top of the forum will take you to the expanded subforums. -
You may also want to consider going out and getting a box, because they're generally cheaper at brick & mortar than from the NCSoft store. You'll also have a hard copy of the game in the event that you need to reinstall, you won't have to download the whole thing again.

*ventures into Virtue forums*
Hey sweetie, happy birfday! I hope you get nekkid mens and chocolate.
Ohwait, you're a 53 year old dockworker.
I hope you get nekkid ladiez and beer.
Have fun! -
It was pulled in beta because the crystals gave tickets. There was some other reason as well, but it was mostly the 'hit one crystal, get thousands of tickets' problem.
It's probably on a list of maps that need to be fixed, but they don't have the manpower to fix 'em. -
Happy Birfday Kegi!!!
May you have endless amounts of pink frosted pink cupcakes with sprinkles on top -
Bumping this up - stumbled on it the other day and it only has 8 playthroughs! This is a really awesome arc, and I was practically falling out of my chair laughing. Amazing work, and you can tell tons of time was spent on it, too.
-
IMO, there's so much good content in the MA that I won't run an arc with Knives in it - the story may be great, but they're an exercise in frustration, and I'd rather spend my time enjoying MA.
Of course, I only play MA solo with melee toons, so the caltrops tend to be ridiculously painful for me. -
UNICODE characters also work (which is why Korean works
) You can find a list on Wikipedia - I have a heart I use all the time, and it's uh..prettier than the ALT+ heart
