how is a crappers life ever dull... unless he's soloing, but then is it really any different for any other AT?

I know as a scrapper I take risks, but I never got to that stage myself myself !!!

I can chain 4 attacks no prob, my bread and butter is Smite, Shadow Maul, Soul Drain and Midnight Grasp. I do use Soul drain for damage and it works quite effectively, my buffing comes from my Invincibility power. I also dropped body mastery, and, because of the nerf to the inv pool I took Dark Mastery which gives me the extra holds I need to negate the attacks I can no longer sustain since I6. so basically I, Buff, hold and hit as I am. The range of attacks are also useful depending on the villains, for instance, midnight grasp doesn't seem to work well against COT Mages, TOF doesn't work to well against Malta Titans etc.

The list of attack / holds are as follows.

Brawl, Smite, Shadow Maul, Touch of Fear, Soul Drain, Confront, Midnight Grasp, Air Superiority, Petrifying Gaze, Dark Blast and Tenebrous Tentacles.

A few people have questioned air superiority but in PvP last night I knocked at least four flying attackers to the ground, TOF'd them and defeated them.

EK uses Soul Drain as a buff I use Invincibility. Fired off in battle I can use Soul Drain as an opener, or to finish off large groups. Its quite effective.

I mainly use Dimension in PvP now anyway. I must be doing something right as I went to Sirens for the first time against villains yesterday for am hour or so and walked out after getting a badge for defeating 20 villains, and only died 3 times when jumped 3-4 on one ( except the mistake I made against yo momma ), but still held my own, and I'm not very good at PvP

    Crazy.... no..... different yes.....

The fact that Soul Drain can be slotted with damage and buff, does not make it crazy to slot it just for damage, its a choice, you cold slot it for either Damage, buff or both. As I said not crazy. I can do quite a bit of damage to a number of targets with one shot of Soul Drain.

Wasting slots, no. most of the damage and acc aspects are nearly maxed out on all my attacks. I have most other powers I could need, though I may still juggle them about at a later date. So its how you look at it really..
  4. Stalkers aren't that hard to kill. Killed loads in Sirens yesterday. You just have to be quick once they hit. Once hit I dull pain and boost my HP, TOF, then whack'em, repeatedly....
  5. What can I say but wow ( and its about time ). I can remember teaming with you from way back in the hollows with Dimension, heck I even have some screenies back then with you in them. I have not teamed with you much lately but when I have its always been fun. Well done and mega gratz on your second 50...
  6. Thx for the gratz. I have you know I never sat on a bench it was EK and I have the photographic proof.

Dimension was good fun to play and I never thought I would level another character to 50. When I played Dark Patriot in the beginning, I took to the skies with two fellow Kheldians belonging to Fyreball and Quantrail, we could be found hovering around Perez blowing the crud out of anything that moved.I got so hacked off with the debt from voids and Nictus that I abandoned him pre level 20. I played Dime for quite a while again after that. When I decided to go back to DP I got playing with some real good people and as it was pre COV, getting a team was no problem. Once I got dwarf form it just became a dream to play. I had so much fun especially post level 35 especially because this game has so many nice people in it. I could name them all day but it would be just so unfair if I accidentally missed any...... so a big thx to all those who teamed with me. I am going to stay mostly in COH for now, and I am looking to be a controller next, for a real change...

See you all on the streets of Paragon City....

Depends on your mentality and how you play i suppose. I'm all for diving into a large groups head first and trying to stay alive, stupid scrapper approach. I've seen others play a more cautious mop up the edge of a fight tactic which offers very little excitement IMO.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I do pretty much the same thing. Find a load of Freaks up at the back end of Crey's Folly, dive in.

Result: after about four groups, I get bored.

Yes, Scrappers tend to be boring, especially if they have an empath as back-up. Hikari-Hime likes to call them "wind-up kill toys". Scrapper fighting: 2,1,2,3,2,1,2,3,2,1,2,3... Reconstruction... 2,1,2,3,2,1,2... you get the picture. About as exciting as watching paint dry.

IMHO, anyone who finds the actual process of Scrapper combat 'fun' has a boredom threshold beyond measure.

PS. The answer to boredom currently, is Warburg. Running the same two or three missions over and over again is still boring, but you get so much xp you don't care.

    [/ QUOTE ]

You must be doing it wrong then, My scrapper has about 9 attacks, some are ranged and some holds, so not exactly 1,2,1,2, he also has dullpain, which can be fired off before and during battle. I hold, hit, fear, taunt, mez and smack em in the chops. Not as basic as you make out. In a team its also partly your job to stop the villains from getting back to the weaker members of the team, so its selective targeting as well.

If you really looked at it you could apply your concept of how scrappers fight to any AT and the way they work.

    Midnight Grasp

Yeh I know, I didnt mind as it still provides damage over time, I was looking to swap it for more acc if anything though.

The question is though 5% of what figure ? 5% of a little is a little, 5% of a lot is a lot ? Without a base figure its meaningless.
  9. Dimension

    Midnight Grasp

What ! its one of the best powers in the set..... maybe you are just not slotting it right, I can one shot an even level minion with it no trouble, higher levels, smite then Midnight Grasp, job done. In the old days with 6 slotted damage and hasten working perma you could go mad with it.

    Mine is slotted like this

    2x50 HO Damage/Mez
    1x52 Acc
    1x52 Recharge
    1x52 Damage
    1x53 Damage

    Gives me
    Damage 101.2%
    Confuse 66.6%
    Fear 66.6%
    Hold 66.6%
    Immobilize 66.6%
    Disorient 66.6%
    Sleep 66.6%
    Intangible 66.6%
    Acc 33.6
    Recharge 33.6

Just checked and it does as much damage as my smite plus damage over time, recharge is about 7-10 seconds without hasten.

I just used it on a Level 50 Behemoth Overlord Lieutenant and it took his power down to one quarter before he healed himself and the damage was still being applied to him (DOT)

That my slotting with Hami O's not sure of a normal slotting now.

Im with EK on this, the whole point of a scrapper is to be knee deep in villains, swinging, chopping or throwing spines as wildly as you can. As you HP starts going down you should be eager to dismiss as many as you can before you either hit the deck or wipe them all out. If your a scrapper and your HP drop doesn't cause a bit of concern during battle then you are not doing it right.

"Live on the edge, fight in the middle" thats my motto when I play my scrapper.
  11. Possibly the most fun in ages.... A Malta and Carnies mission giving a near team wipe, exiting the mission early so that you could ding bringing down a GM on monster island. TG group TPing us to the island, forgetting to take you, then accidentally TPing us of the map back to Talos from PI...... Then when we got to monster island you failed to ding when we defeated the GM, and failed on the second one, thankfully you dinged on the third one........ Group TP to Atlas by TG for the big moment.....

Big gratz on the big 50

And now a couple of piccy's

    Chesty dings the big one

The TG TP conga express to Atlas
  12. I have 3damage 1end 1recharge 1acc 50++'s or higher in nearly all attacks, I dont use hasten much and have 4 slotted stamina. On big damage atacks I have 3damage 2acc 1end. I find I can now take on a group of purple Death Mages and minions 2-3 mages and some minions, with very little trouble. The end drain seems less now so end dont need slotting much. Some of my powers debuff a bit so I have a bit more time anyway. FA just aint worth it anymore, without 6 slotted stamina a real big fight leaves you well drained witthout extra end slotting, now I hardly have any end issues and can exemp without a problem.
  13. I may be the odd one here but I found that since I6 and the need for lots of colours in you slotting, the body mastery pool went from my scrapper. It was mainly taken for FA, and the ability to 6 slot my attacks with damage, since 6 slotting the same SO is gone as a viable option now, there was no need for FA anymore as I was forced to reslot my attacks, so I chose acc and damage. The upside of this is that in the PvP zones where the epics are lost due to the level and on TF's and missions where you are exemp'd you do not lose acc from your attacks, It also gave me the choice of another epic pool which has holds. So now not only can I hold and damage I can also exemp'd without missing half my attacks. FA is an end hog anyway. It has its upsides but I have found more up's without it.
  14. What is your problem ? My main is a level 50 DM/INV and I just respec'd him for I6. Do you have a problem with your build, if you are on defiant server I can have a chat with you about it or just let me know what problems you are having. PM either of the 2 in the sig if you are on the same server.

You may have trouble getting feedback on a DM/INV scrapper, there aint that many about. I was the first on defiant to get to 50 and there has only been a couple since.
  15. Its a day or so late but I would like to congratulate QuantumHoard on getting his first hero to level 50. He is a good player, a real nice person and it is always fun teaming with him. Well done mate, well deserved.
  16. You would also be welcome in TANC ( The Awfully Nice Chaps ), as with a lot of other SG's many are playing COV at the moment ( We have an active SG there as well ) but with the number of other SG's we have a coalition with its still possble to find a team most nights.

If your interested PM either of my alt in game amd let me know, I'm on nearly every night.
  17. Put me on the subs bench with Dimension. Ill go if someone dont turn up.
  18. Thx for organising the raid, I had fun and no death was incurred.

I knew there would not be enough people to hold Hami so I respect'd a hold into my main char to help out. ( You can see me floating above the group in the holding pictures ). That gave me more to do in the raid and didn't leave me standing waiting outside the goo.

Of the main offender who was griefing, basically he was all mouth. As far as I am aware ( I must be the only one who actually talks to him in civil manner ) he was just stating an opinion based on the little knowledge he had accumulated from his time in Drek. I know he was Drek'd to about level 45, because I know the ones who were involved in the process. Because of his lack of knowledge he comes over very badly, BUT in my experience of him he does not learn by his mistakes either. The main problem is that he was being verbally abused by a lot of people, and that does not help matters.

Anyway I have gone on enough.

I'm in the on next one.
  19. Hi,

The Awfully Nice Chaps have once more opened their doors to new recruits. If you are interested please send me a tell, I am on as Dimension or Dark Patriot nearly every night. There is also a evil version of us on COV if you are interested, but us heroes don't like to talk about them to much........
  20. Q you are great player and one of the nicest people in the game. Not teamed with you for a little while now ( shame ), but I will miss you all the same. Hope you have fun in NZ. Good luck and best wishes.
  21. Dimension

    Fiasco AWAY!

Bye and have fun, whatever game you end up playing....
  22. Quantum flight is an excellent panic button, It does not have the start-up time that Phase shift does, click it and you are safe ( ish ) it also has max flight speed from the off. It is an end hog though. Conserve Energy fixes most of that though with the power itself slotted with 2xRedEnd as well.

Dawn Strike is very good still, but it does need a few rage insps to get it going big time. Hit conserve energy before firing it off and you will not have the end problems after it has detonated. Works well with stealth. Hide in group, pop insps and BOOOOOM ! Group gone. Mine is slotted with 3xDm and 1xAcc

Photon Seekers are more trouble than they are worth.

I have six slotted nova attacks 4xDmg 1xAcc 1xDefenceDeBuff ( My ED config ) in each, and is just stunning. Later levels the Nova form can take a bit of a whacking.

Essence boost is a godsend, mine is slotted for 3xRecharge and 3xHeal, this boosts your HP or can be used as an emergency heal.

    My forms are slotted thus:-

    Nova 3xTohitBuffs 3XEndRecovery
    Dwarf 4xDmgResist and 2xEndRecovery.

Made it to Level 44 a lot faster than my scrapper did, so must be doing something right.
  23. Mine is a 2.5 form. Its primarily built round the Nova and Dwarf forms. Firstly I made these the best they could be. The Nova form can chain attacks without the need for Hasten, Dwarf can do the same. Depending on the enemy I choose the form accordingly.

The human form is basically my travel - Super speed and Superjump, big bang - Dawn Strike, Panic button - Quantum Flight, click through powers - Build Up, Conserve Energy etc and my heal for Nova.

I don't use the Human for fighting. This reduces the need for slots and make it easier to play. IMHO

The first 20 levels were pure hell, where to stand what to do and then there is the voids, nictus and the quantum's. My first char was a scrapper so my mentality to play the PB was all wrong. Now with some flight time under my belt that has changed. I can now take on +4 or 5's ( depending on the enemy type ) , and solo groups with ease.

They do get fun honest, It just takes a bit of adjusting.

Edit : Oh and I have already teamed with a number of Human form only PB's they play just as well
