Midnight Grasp
I've never been terribly fond of it myself - it does do more damage than Shadow Maul (to a single target), but because a substantial part of it is damage over time it just doesn't work as well.
Personally I use smite, shadow maul and air superiority mostly. Oh and siphon life as well now - rejiggered my build somewhat in the hopes of mustering more interest - Ilservian had been sitting at lvl 35 for a good couple of months until recently!
All in all I'd say it's a skippable power if you have something else you'd rather get.

Hmm, that's weird. IIRC, MG with the DoT should do about the same dmg as SM. It might be a little lower, but certainly not 50% weaker.
It's a bit underwhelming compared to SM, SM is a really strong lvl 2 attack though. MG has immobilize, higher crit rate (10/15/20 %) higher acc debuff (-10%), and faster animation, which can be useful depending of your playstyle. It's pure negative energy aswell, which isn't resisted much.
MNG rocks.
My first time i used it i was seriously disapointed because with 1 SO in it theres not much effect. Get your 3 damage in there and suddenly its going to be a different story. Pre-ED i could fire this off at even level minion and walk away knowing that it would die. Not tried it since ED, you may need smite/shadow punch to finish them off now.
Admitedly it looks a whole lot less impressive than SM but it is worth taking and slotting.
Sounds like it's a grower. I'll bung 3 more slots in it @ lvl 33 and see what it's like.
If not, I have 2 more respecs on hold.
What ! its one of the best powers in the set..... maybe you are just not slotting it right, I can one shot an even level minion with it no trouble, higher levels, smite then Midnight Grasp, job done. In the old days with 6 slotted damage and hasten working perma you could go mad with it.

Just checked and it does as much damage as my smite plus damage over time, recharge is about 7-10 seconds without hasten.
I just used it on a Level 50 Behemoth Overlord Lieutenant and it took his power down to one quarter before he healed himself and the damage was still being applied to him (DOT)
That my slotting with Hami O's not sure of a normal slotting now.
You know you're only getting like 5% out of one of those damage SOs?
Swap it for a Recharge.

Yeh I know, I didnt mind as it still provides damage over time, I was looking to swap it for more acc if anything though.
The question is though 5% of what figure ? 5% of a little is a little, 5% of a lot is a lot ? Without a base figure its meaningless.
I did mention that it is only single slotted with a lvl 35 Acc SOE.
I'll have to see how the dmagae goes with a couple of 35 dmg SOEs
Midnight Grasp is an awesome alpha strike, before you fire of shadow maul. MNG + shadow maul is a recipe for death
Got to lvl 33, put 3 +2 DMG in it. It's better, but I would still say that I am some what disapointed with it.
Oh well, I'll give it another couple of slots @ 34 and see then.

i felt the same when i first picked it up, bit of a let down but now when i'm respeccing it gets 6 slots asap, at the moment its 3 damage and 3 recharge and its good to go (all +2 or +3)
its great fire and forget on an even con mob.

I've got it 5 slotted now, 3dmg 1 rechrg and 1 acc.
It's ok. But I'm still not overly impressed.

It might be that it needs slotting, but I got to lvl 32 the other day after 3 weeks of grinding to get there.
I understand that it might need a lot of slotting, but so far it really is one of the worst powers in the set. Long recharge, really [censored] damage and even with a lvl 35 ACC SOE in there I can't really hit anything with it.
