When you first walk in off the ferry and hear Recluse talking on the Big screens... awesome... simply awesome...
[/ QUOTE ]
Lemme guess...
Lord Recluse: "Welcome. Welcome to Grandville.
You have chosen, or been chosen, to relocate to one of our finest remaining urban centers.
I thought so much of Grandville that I elected to establish my Administration here
in the Big Ol' Spidertower I built to scare the poop outta everybody.
I have been proud to call Grandville my home. And so, whether you are here to stay, or passing through on your way to parts unknown,
Welcome to Grandville.
It's safer here."
And later....
Lord Recluse: "Let me read a letter I recently received. "Dear Lord Recluse, why has Arachnos seen fit to supress us poor, impoverished Rogue Isles citizens? Sincerely, A Concerned Citizen."
Thank you for writing, Concerned. Of course your question touches on one of the basic biological impulses, with all its associated hopes and fears for the future of the species."
Guess the reference. It isn't all that hard. -

Ah-HA! So it IS 50! I KNEW it! And there were those who said it'd be lower. -
Congratulations Cryptic Studios! You've created a fun and unique MMO that's a blast to play! The future looks great! Keep up the good work!

I have to say this is a great guide. I got the link from Havok's guide, which I used up 'til I6. I rebuilt my Tank on this guide, and while it took some getting used to at first, I'm burning through missions on Invincible! Thanks Vox Populi!

Thank you, Statesman, for explaining the changes fully. Not every developer has the courage to face the playerbase, but you've time and time again challenged the status quo of distancing one's self from the players, with positive results.

Did you know?
Aurora Borealis wasn't always in IP. She replaced Malaise when hers and Sister Psyche's minds were seperated through a now unavailable TF. I think that's it anway. The whole deal with Psyche is kinda confusing.
The respec TF was brutally difficult at first, ironically, considering that players with sub-par builds would be unable to finish it. It was toned down much to ire of the minority of players who completed it and said it was easy. Those players had their milk-money stolen in-game by Hellions.
Giant Monsters used to have set levels, but this was changed when high-level players easily killed monsters such as the Kraken and Babbage, trivializing their monsterness. -

This thing is about Stamina beeing nerfed with ED right? What about travel powers?
We got a nice end discount but what about the other things that were just nerfed for no apparent reason. If there actually is a reason for me needing to travel slower plz enlighten me. There might be other things like travel powers but i can't think of any.
[/ QUOTE ]
Which travel powers were slowed? Flight required 3 SOs to hit its speed cap before and after ED. The others, excluding TP, hit speed cap with one or two SOs for jump or run-speed. Hover is the only thing I can think of that needs a speed-boost. With 6 SOs it was pretty fast, and definitely useful, but now, with 3 SOs being pretty much the max, it's painfully slow with those 3 SOs. -
A MUST HAVE EMOTE!
Ok, you bring your arm back like you're about to give them the back of yo' hand, then you don't.
Not sure why, but for some reason it sounded cool to me at the time... -

First off thanks Cupa for putting this thread up!
I have 2 concern/issues,
First is that the 1 billion marker for some badges (mainly healing) is effectively unattainable for me. Since I am a completest I really want them all.
I am a blaster and getting 2 million healing pts (doctor badge) with the medicine pool took a long time, (specially with all the defenders out there with their drive by heals) So I think that the 1 Billion number should be lowered some.
2nd concern is Isolator. Will I ever be able to get it? I only play this one toon, and I started him at launch. I really think that loyalty should be rewarded, and that characters who were around before the badge system was implemented should be aloud to obtain them. It may not seem like a big deal to most, but it is to me.
Thanks for listening!
[/ QUOTE ]
I think the 2nd tier healing badges were intended for Defenders or Controllers with healing powers. If it was possible to get all the badges with one toon, then why create other toons? I'm pretty sure the Devs have stated that Outbreak is the only way anyone will ever be able to get Isolator. -

PVP and adding more "Elites" that I couldn't solo at the same level are what drove me from WoW. Knowing I couldn't solo any dungoen until I was well above the levels it was designed for irked me. Going to Swamp of Sorrows and defending my gnome mage from a NPC guard in the middle of the swamp, only to have a high level Tauren try to kill me since I was now flagged irked me. Going into Stonetalon Valley for the first time from the Barrons on my human paladin, only to have a troll mage try to kill me because I was flagged from fighting NPC guards IRKED ME. Playing a level 10 undead priestess who just learned ressurection and was killed by a level 54 paladin because I tried to ress a corpse outside Crossroads and was flagged when I cast it (Corpses that had released don't show their flag status) REALLY PISSED ME OFF.
I went PVE servers to avoid PVP. Their "honor" system took a hell of a lot of fun out of the game. I couldn't avoid it. Either an NPC would attack and defending myself would flag me PVP, I would buff or heal someone flagged and find myself flagged, or a zerg raid would kill the NPCs I needed to talk to in order to do quests.
Adding in more dungeons and threats requiring massive parties to fight didn't help this solo player. I left WoW, that is money they will no longer receive from me. I came back to here because someone pointed me to this very thread. Seeing Cryptic's Devs pull this nerf really makes me wonder if I should just give up on MMOGs altogether.
[/ QUOTE ]
This is why I left WoW. The Honor system, which I hoped would keep my feeble Night Elf warrior from getting ganked, did the opposite. -

Recruits is for 1-20, Hive is for 21-44, Elite is for 45-50. Our main leaders, Smelly Deuce and Thong Thang, have gone on hiatus til I5, but we're still pretty active. We're all linked via coalition, so members can chat with ever other member in the SG, as well as members of U.N.T.I.L. -
Holy cow! Stock in GHKS just went up 50 points! I bought about 1,000 shares in GHKS, and the prices keep skyrocketing! Thank you, GHKS, for making my dreams come true!

Started my tanker build last night and while on a team a scrapper began to tell me how to build my hero (in a know-it-all kind of way). I simply stated that i was doing the "superman" build and he just said "ah" and shutted up the rest of the mission. That was nice.
Now for a newbie tank question. Although I like the damage output making this build soloable, I do like to team a lot. I notice that taunt is taken late. You have done a lot of testing of this build and I really don't want to monkey around with it so is there a way to hold aggro without taunt?
Should I move up and push back everything?
Rely on punch provoke?
I know a tank doesn't NEED taunt, but . . . I don't know . . . can I be an adequete team tanker without it till lvl 30?
Again thank you for this guide and the work you did making it.
[/ QUOTE ]
I took taunt around 26 or so, and I love it. It's great for herding reluctant mobs, and in a team, as long as all the baddies are in one place, you'll be loved. I managed to hold aggro on about 8 of those Council robot bosses along with about 20 assorted minions and LTs AT ONCE during the Ernesto Hess TF. At the same time, a Fire blaster and Spines scrapper were tearing the guys up. Nobody died. At the very end, I tanked Burkholder and fought him mano a mano. Of course, I could hardly dent him (this was before I took Rage, after all), but my team's scrappers and blasters provided the pain necessary to bring him to his knees. In the end, the ONLY death came from this guy who failed to get out of the base before it 'sploded. -
A while back I posted that I had dug up Cpt. Liberty and was planning to rebuild him. Anyways, Cpt. Liberty is now lvl 28, and I just got Rage. Oh my gosh, this thing deserves the full 6 on the happy meter! It's like taking elephant steroids! (Not that I have any experience with that... none whatsoever) I'd like to thank you again Havok, for making an awesome guide. I've reffered to it at every stage of my tank's growth, and I can't imagine getting allong without it.
Keep up the awesome work! -

Slightly modifed SFCStaley's quote:

The higher level villians all seem to have a great deal of smash/lethal resistance, as a Broadsword, claws, MA, or Katana scrapper, this limits my ability to be the damage king.
[/ QUOTE ]
See if you can spot the difference!
[/ QUOTE ]
Yeah, I see the difference: a Scrapper claiming that he is supposed to be the damage king. You cannot complain about enemy resistances when you can survive whatever they dish out. Now, if you died constantly, like Blasters do, you'd have every right to complain. Show me one unhappy Scrapper, and I'll show you the Blaster community as a whole. -
Yes, CuppaJo is the bomb diggity. And thanks for the end cost numbers on the toggles. Now I need to slot out my attacks with EndReds. Sure, Cpt. Liberty is only lvl 9 at the moment, but the lowbies in my SG team with him. I recently tanked about a dozen green Hellions. Don't know if that's a big achievement at lvl 9, but I gotta start somewhere...
-
Sweet guide! It made me dig my lvl 15 inv/ss tank outta retirement. Of course, his slots were awful, and he didn't have Temp Invul! So I deleted him, recreated him (snagged the same name too!), and now I plan on following your build, more or less.

Just my two cents, I think blaster damage should not be nerfed in any way. If we can't kill a high damage enemy relatively quickly, we die. If we can't kill an enemy with mezzes (assuming mezzes are things that hold, disorient, sleep, etc.) we die. I've died several times cause I've gotten held by enemies I never even saw coming. Suddenly, I can't attack, and I have half a dozen even con minions closing to melee range, and as I've learned as a blaster, melee range=death. I don't know why Statesman wants to raise mob HP to bring AOE damage "in line". This would piss off everybody, and if we are headed towards making every AT on 100% equal footing, I'm quitting. Some AT's are better at one thing than others are. Scrappers are damage dealers that MUST close to melee range in order to do so. This means they get hit a lot and need at least some defenses. Blasters don't need to get close, however there are ranged attacks and mezzes to consider. I kill said ranged attackers and mezzers asap. If I don't, I die. What's wrong with AOE? Explosive blast is good (I need to 6 slot it for damage though), but if I 6 slot it and find that it does pretty much what it did unslotted before the change, then I'd be pretty upset. It costs a couple hundred thousand inf to 6 slot SO's for damage. I PAID for that. I didn't get it by defualt. I worked HARD to do damage that high, and I get punished for my success? What kinda logic is that?
