  1. Yes, that's the problem. Not the fact that people who can only lie or only tell the truth don't exist.
  2. I "grew up" in mid-I6, before I had most of that available to me. I still loved it. Hell, I loved how "the Hollows teaches us to run!".

Explorer types. Not everyone is one.

    Call it

I predict more availability and lower prices for recipes at the BM and lower prices for Magic salvage at WW. Things will fluctuate wildly for a bit and then settle down to a new "normal". Then GR will hit and everything will be tossed into the air again to fall where it may and restabilize. Such is a supply and demand system.

2short2care is now sentenced to listen to long-winded stories about how things were IN MY DAY!:

Well I don't know how old Manticore is in 1986, I haven't read that far yet or it doesn't say, but even if he is 18 that would make him 42 today, well the devs better think of something "special to happen to manticore" for his age to slow or stop. Nobody wants to see an old guy in spandex with an adult diaper on. :P

Wow this is kinda funny I just got done reading Web of Arachnos and now I am reading The Freedom Phalanx. Also did you guys know that according to the book Ray Keyes (Positron) and Steve (Synapse) were 27 in 1986 so today in 2010 that would make them 50. They look pretty good for men who are half a century old.
    That's hardly uncommon, young man.

Dark City. Older and overlooked movie. Get the Director's Cut, don't read anything else about it (not the back of the case, nothing) and watch it.
Wonderful movie, and full of surprises. It's probably just me, but I loved Keifer Sutherland's deliciously over the top performance in one of the supporting roles.

    So bad he was good!

That picture has always bothered me.... because I can't seem to figure out rationally the shape of Cap's SPINE in that picture.

Is his spine in the shape of a question mark or something?
Well, maybe we can tell something if we get the shield out of the way and strip that pesky uniform off...

Hmmm...nope, no help there, only more seared retinas.
  8. Well, thanks then.

But, to be honest, I could probably even get past all the "learning new stuff", if it didn't feel like I was fighting in gelatin. The new rules themselves are killing me, with weak hits, weak control, bad movement...I can even see the need for some of that stuff, but they went way way too far. Seriously, I don't want any AT to be "ubar", but to make controllers and defenders almost useless, even on the teams they say they balance around...it's just silly and off-putting.
  9. Oh, I guess I see what you're saying. I was interpreting wrong, thinking the OP didn't want to be bothered checking all those various levels to see if they were available. I take it you're talking about posting bids for certain items and just leaving them there to see if they hit right when something becomes available.

Although seeing it like that, I don't see any change in my opinion. It's still just a nice little QoL thing and I highly doubt any effect of significance on the market.
  10. Oh, we have several "experts" on board in the LoV on Victory that I can hit up for that info if I need (toiletduck and xury can usually tell me all I need to know), but as a casual PvPer, it's just not worth it to me. Relearn a new game. Relearn how slotting works and how badly some powers got hit (APPs do more than my regular powers??? Wha...???). Casual players don't want to mess with all that stuff. I might, if the zones were really active (or even lightly active, like they used to be), but really I'm just not that into it enough to bother.
  11. And unless you've got all 18 stocked up with rare and hard to find salvage, it seems a little pointless. If you're hoarding stuff like Boresights, that can be had for pennies on the market, you're kind of wasting your time and energy.
  12. It becomes less fun when you have to learn a completely new system that doesn't resemble in the least how it works elsewhere in the game, too. The differences were minor and easy to keep track of for the casual PvPers before. Now it's like I have to learn a new game. Plus, I liken PvP now to fighting in mud and hitting like a little girl. It's the anti-fun.

If I believed in conspiracy theories, I almost might believe they're tanking it on purpose.

    Samuel_Tow has an old one:

That's a little like the old riddle of the person who always lies and the person who always tells the truth, and the one question you can ask to tell them apart. You CAN ask who the liar is, and you WILL get an answer, it would just have absolutely no meaning.
That's why you ask them "If I asked you which one of you is not the liar, how would you answer?" They'll both point at the truth teller, because the liar must now lie about his impending lie.

    ChaosExMachina doesn't run:

Didn't they do that, to a lesser degree, in i17, at least at low levels?
They reconfigured the origin-based starter missions in Atlas and Galaxy to not run you all over hell's half-acre and into dangerous territory for your level, but I don't recall them doing anything else like that elsewhere. And those were always contained in the same zone anyway.

    Forbin_Project has my voice:

I hope they devs never do that. This game doesn't need more AE babies that have no idea how to leave Atlas Park or Mercy Island.
I know I'm weird, but I find arcs that are all one zone to be kind of boring. It's more fun to move around for me.

    Fixing Files?

Don't believe the time-left timer, anyway, especially what it says initially. It tends to work faster as you go along and generally takes a lot less time than the "estimate". If it takes more than an hour or so for it to "fix" 1.1 gigs, there's a good chance your machine can't handle this game anyway.
  17. Really? That bites. Well, like I said, I wouldn't object...
  18. ...and made those of us who were casual PvPers disinterested.
  19. I wouldn't object, but I don't really see it as all that necessary either. Easiest way to get "Entrusted With The Secret" is to hit 25 and ask someone politely to open a portal for you, and get the Ouroborous Exploration badge.
  20. No, but the limitations of the game engine restrict them from going much past the knees with stuff, and there's so many "kicky" powers and animations that it would be hard to make the floor-length stuff work for everyone (a requirement of player costumes) without looking god awful (how some of the anis look with pencil skirt is bad enough).

    Griffyn_ predicts:

It would help make the market be more robust as more people would be bidding on recipes. More people would be willing to put low demand recipes on the market (e.g. a level 37 confuse or sleep set recipe) because they would have a good chance of selling. More volume of buyers and sellers would also level out the prices on recipes.
I don't see how you make that connection. Are there bunches of people out there that can't be bothered to search or bid across ten or so levels so they won't bother at all? I see it would be a nice QoL thing, but I'd also predict it would have no significant effect on the market whatsoever.

    Quote:
It's probably not an easy fix, but it can't be all that difficult and I say that with 20 years of experience of programming and creating databases. The current design works only if there is a much greater limit on the number of buy/sell orders outstanding. With a 15-20 limit, there's no way that I'm going to put up recipes for sale that aren't either going to sell quickly or sell for a lot.
To a small degree, true, I just don't see this idea changing that to any significant degree. This is, of course, the essence of a supply/demand system. The reason said things don't sell is because they are neither pricey nor particularly desirable in a wide-spread fashion.

Although more room to work with is never a bad thing.

Wait, you still can't get in? Yeah, definitely was up by that post. Sorry, no clue, then. Wonky old guildportal. If they didn't have so many nice features it might not be worth hanging out there...but they do.
  24. The players have just as much potential (more, actually) for cheesy voice acting than the professionals. Pass, thanks.
