Another set of missions to unlock Entrusted With The Secret

I was running through Mercedes Sheldon's arcs t'other day and 'The Magic Man' is a nice way of unlocking the Orobouros Portal.

Similarly redside, Marshall Brass seems to be the best (and only?) way of unlocking OB.

So I just have a simple suggestion that two arcs are written to give players another choice of unlocking the OB portal.

Now I know that the 'Ubelmann The Unknown' arc heroside also unlocks OB, but it's quite a long arc and the contact doesn't suddenly pop up in your contacts window when you hit level 20 and also unlock the Midnighter Club. In fact it's quite possible to bypass the contacts altogether, what with Striga, Faultline and Croatoa offering more attractive ways of gaining levels in the 20s-30s (i.e. not having to travel from Indy, to Perez, to The Hollows, to Atlas, to Steel, to Indy.... etc etc). Let alone TFs, cape missions, and safeguards.

I am also aware that Marshall Brass does not auto unlock so I would suggest the following:

Heroes get a new arc that involved time travel
Villains get a new arc that involves time travel - and the contact unlocks at level 20

I wouldn't object, but I don't really see it as all that necessary either. Easiest way to get "Entrusted With The Secret" is to hit 25 and ask someone politely to open a portal for you, and get the Ouroborous Exploration badge.

Dec out.

Yes, possibly it is over NA servers... over EU servers, not so much.
And as we would get more content in the form of new arcs, I'm all for this.

There's also the option of getting a badge in Recluse's Victory to unlock Ouroboros, but that is a whee bit late in your toon's career.

Oh, and I think doing the Science Shop mission in Brickstown also unlocks Ouroboros.

That said, it's still very easy to miss the one and only arc that entrusts you with the secret red-side, and while it's not a huge deal, having more options isn't bad.

If writing entirely new contacts and arcs is out of question, maybe rewriting Darren Wade's arc would be a good option. He's a pop-up contact in the 20-25 range, so his level range is ideal and he's hard to miss. Maybe just have Doctor Echo appear in the second mission show up twice as a hostage because of time-travel shenanigans?

Either way, that's my 2 cents.

I've had at least two villains not get it until defeating Recluse. I'd frankly forgotten about it, and my reaction was "ohhhhh yeahhhhh, Oroboros...."

(I have a pillar in my base now, so not really a big deal)

Suggestions:
Super Packs Done Right
Influence Sink: IO Level Mod/Recrafting
Random Merit Rolls: Scale cost by Toon Level

Heroes can get Entrusted with the Secret by 17 different badges, 6 different story arcs, and one non-arc mission. Most of the badges are high level (STF or RV), but the arcs go as low as level 20 (Mercedes Sheldon, Doc Delilah, and Agent G). One of the badges (5th Columnist) could theoretically be earned at level 1 (assuming you've got a lv1 character who logged in for the 1st and 2nd anniversaries, and still hasn't leveled up).

Villains can get Entrusted with the Secret by 16 different badges and one story arc (which can start at lv15). Again, the badges are high level (RSF or RV).

And of course, joining anyone on a flashback mission gets you the portal, as does jumping through someone else's portal and getting the Chrononaut badge from within Ouroboros itself.

Blueside the Science Store contact in Bricks also gives it to you. Anyone can do the mission and it's just a single one. Think it can be done at 30.

I have a question - is it possible to open a portal with one of your characters, log out, log in with another one and hop into it? It shouldn't take more than two minutes, but does the portal last that long, and through a log-out?

As soon as the character logged out, all 'pets' would despawn.

This includes the O-portal

Nope. With good reason.

Imagine the poor newbie who starts the game rolling a science hero with Atlas Park as the starter zone and just wonders "hey, where does this go?" upon seeing the door behind his starter contact.

That said, I think it is completely, err, counter-intuitive to put access to the highest-level PvP zone in a starter zone. Hell, Peregrine Island has five perfectly good portals to use, just dedicate one of them to Recluse's Victory and you still have four more for normal missions.
