    Sharker_Quint confuses me:

i think what people fail to see is that, while a QoL issue of some sorts, if the game keeps getting easier no one will want to play it.
"Some sorts"? It's totally a QoL issue and has no bearing on the game getting "easier" at all.

Not that there's anything wrong with that.
  2. Hmmm, they ARE a bit different, aren't they? More rustic and makeshift, as I suppose is appropriate. Nice.
  3. My question is, does it come with the free month that way? 'Cause I'd pay the 10 to get me 15 in that respect, especially since I don't have the Cyborg pack that would come as a bonus.

EDIT: Oh, duh. Already answered, but at least to the positive.
  4. I think that's one of the things they're trying to figure out (or to put it another way, the road block in the way), mentioned by Roderick as...

Because the system used with the brokers didn't work with the flashback system.
I don't know that people would stop doing the radios per se, though. A lot of people simply like those because they don't make you leave the zone, and they don't care about the story arcs (or just find them long and tedious). A lot of those players, in fact, skip the Safeguards. I think a significant drop-off probably would occur, though, so they'd probably have to include the radios, and that's where the code garbling starts.

    So Mace's

Afraid your're behind the times. Maybe you don't play many tanks or brutes, but it's a much more popular set since it was buffed over a year ago.

As for underpowered, many would now give it the edge over Axe, for AoE damage in particular.
"Behind the times" would be it (I never even noticed...but then, about a year ago was when my computer died and I was six months getting a new one).

I wouldn't have noticed on mine as I don't play him much and I don't pay attention to such things. To me, the difference would probably only be that before I'd have to hit something four times instead of three and that would just make me sure to carry blues. I picked my mace tank to make The Mighty Thunor as a concept so it's performance meant nothing to me personally.
  6. Put me down in the "depends on the details" column. I certainly wouldn't want to see this at the expense of the regular free updates.

Another idea... Have contests like "have your toon become so-and-so's side kick" or "have your toon become so-and-so's love interest" and add that to the game.

Or have a contest for a mascot character or something like that. The devs are always saying they don't want the characters to feel always like second banana to the NPCs...well then why not feature some of them or put some of them on the boxes. That would go a long way with relative ease.
I can't even imagine the logistical nightmare that would be. It'd be prohibitively costly enough to just have to sort through the thousands and thousands of entries that you'd get for something like that, let alone judge them all (because they're sure as hell not adding someone to the canon at random).
  8. Don't cry for me.

  11. Not...really. Tights muscular and tights smooth are both pretty off from the matte.

    Vivace has homework:

I'm doing an advertising plan for a class right now, and one of the steps in it is finding out who the current users are and why they are current users.

So, why do you play this game? The community? The powers? Being able to fly? Being able to log in whenever and just play? Because you have nothing better to do?

And please be at least semi-serious with your answers since this is for a final project.
    Why? Because I must!

I'm a life-long super-hero geek. Read my first comics in 1965 when I was four and was hooked. Around 2005, I was having some personal and financial problems that I solved by getting away from my old "scene" and becoming somewhat of a recluse, using my money to help get caught up instead of blowing it self-indulgently. The biggest drawback was that I could no longer afford comics (although, I must say, the Big Two were turning in directions I wasn't fond of, so I think the timing was right).

This was right around the beginning of 2006. I'd heard about the game years before, of course, but we were on a crappy dial-up and had weak computers, so I never bothered, despite wanting to check it out badly. But, my new reclusiveness had left me without much to occupy my fun time, so I bit the bullet and tried it. I loved it, but it was a nightmare at first. 256 RAM on an awful dial-up with a computer that had a sound-card masquerading as a modem was almost unplayable. Eventually, I bought a better USB modem (still bad, but doable...and I was very happy a year later when we finally got high-speed in our area) and some extra RAM, and then I could actually play after several months of frustration.

The game itself was probably good enough to keep me here, but on a recommendation from an online buddy I hooked up with the Legion of Valor and that pretty much cemented the deal. Great bunch of like-minded folks that my gaming experience would be poorer without. Friendly, helpful, adult, with "no drama" rules in place. Perfect for "pretendy funtime game", if you ask me.

So, is it the people? Yup! Is it the game? You bet! Is it the convenience, ease and flexibility? Yup! I'm just happy to play with friends, and set up my own little version of "Astro City" like I always wanted to, even back in my old PnP super-hero gaming well before Astro City even existed.
  13. True enough. I don't much look at the icons, I guess. Once the mouseover was gone, I'd pretty much memorized them through repetition by color and position in the menu.

Then there Lord Nemesis, Look at me! Im a Attention *****! WEEEE!, Im involved in everything there has ever been, Im a walking Plot Device when everyone else is way to lazy to come up with something, so I must of did it! -sighs- I just want to take a power drill to his face for like 3hrs, then see if he wants to continue saying he's center of every damn thing anyone has ever done.
See, that's what I actually like about him. That's his whole purpose for existing! It's very Silver-Age "comic booky".

I still chuckle every time I get "It's all a Nemesis plot!" or "Not everything is a Nemesis plot" for a Mission Tip.
  15. Well, it's not like we don't know already what they look like. Heck, they gave away the costume at HeroCon '09, and there's plenty of pics up on the GR site.

Unless maybe the Resistance ones look different...

The annoyance is the players that don't know how to use KB "properly" (word subject to varying definitions; offer void in South Carolina and Iowa ), not the KB itself.

Same same here only from the Energy Blaster perspective. I don't want them to be on their back here, I want them on their back over there. If I want them on their back here, I'll just get above them first and smash them to the floor.

That's why I've started bringing characters that can handle team-sized spawns to PuG TFs. I find that if somebody just starts fighting anyway, people will join in.
I usually just yell "Let's beat these up while we wait." and find out the other people waiting are as bored as I am.

    Lazarus has that right:

Speed runs really annoyed me back in the days of the random recipe at the end instead of merits. I had such horrible luck with that drop that I knew I would reliably make much more inf steamrolling the TF instead of hoping for some lucky drop at the end.
Oy, seems like every time I did a speed Katie back in the day, I'd end up with yet another useless Pet recipe.

    AzureSkyCiel beats me there:

oddly, I can agree with the Lord Recluse dying part, but I'm okay with Statesman.
Why? Because for about 40 levels of gameplay blueside, all I've even SEEN of Statesman was the cover art on the box of the game and maybe passing the guy by in IP.
I don't hear a whole lotta of the same crap that I hear about with Lord Recluse, who's shoved down your throat from level 1-50 redside, as I do Statesman.
I was thinking much the same as I was reading. We're not on a "working for Statesman until we get too tough for even him" rail blueside (I hate rails). Cole's pretty innocuous on the hero's side, more of a figurehead and lore monkey .

Tech issue and philosophy issue. From War Witch's wording on it, it sounded like they still wanted to keep them separate, worked on that, and found out it was going to be a bigger cluster**** than would be worth it and backed down. But I am "reading between the lines" there a bit.

    So Mace's

Agreed. It's not really a popular set (many think it's underpowered) so it gets shuffled to the back row, I think.

    Sailboat works a good angle:

Maybe this would be a better name if he went in the other direction (hero-->villain), but I'll offer it anyway. The idea of a mixed-morality silver character immediately brought the work Tarnished to my mind.
While it's not my call, I think that one's the best one so far.
