  1. So I didn't want to do the traditional necro/dark, and the next thing that worked with the set was pain domination. I don't see a guide to it anywhere, but I just wanted to ask a few questions. I want to be team friendly, but not solo gimped.

Since /pain gives a lot of self +DMG buffs, should I be taking the necro/ attacks? Which ones? Pool attacks?

I'm only level 8, but my zombies seem particularly fragile. When I try to heal them they still die, except my endurance is gone too. Do these sets just not work together, or does it get a little better later?

    Share Pain?

Is bodyguard mode suggested with such fragile zombies?

I'm not sure how relevant it will be, but I play a bots/ff mastermind and I rarely lose my bots.

    [/ QUOTE ]

The only question is, how much coffee do you drink to stay awake? Me: 1 gallon/hour

    [/ QUOTE ]

I run with a case of Mt. Dew at my side, and down a can or two about as often as most people breathe. It recently went on sale and I now have 20 cubes sitting in my garage. I'll get a good month out of the stock.

But that's just how I play anything. Bots/ff, necro/pain, thugs/poison, ill/rad, or dual blades/shields. There's nothing boring about being able to wade through +3's without fear.
  3. Boring?

    BORING?!!?

So you don't have anything to do. What's the problem when you get to /em wave and /em laugh and /em boombox while +3's try to hit you?

Bring newbies along and charge them for the exp. Bring newbie SG mates along to build up your base prestige. Put the difficulty to 5 and laugh. Use the goto command religiously and choreograph a complex dance for your minions while they mash things into little bitty pieces.
  4. Don't forget the panic button!

I only tried PvP once with my Bot/ff, it was about a year ago. I had a spines regen scrapper laying into me and doing nothing thanks to the personal force field.
  5. Then it sounds to me like they just don't want to try it and are coming up with lame excuses.

    Sorry to waste everyone's time.
  6. It will boost the recharge rate by 70%.

Since the recharge rate is 0.0s and since hasten reduces recharge time by 70%, the total recharge time will be down to 0.0s.
  7. Thanks! Ballpark numbers are about what I was looking for anyway.

That looks like a convincing enough number to say "The game's not dead, quit it with the doom and gloom and try it!"

This would be awesome, I have an arc that could specifically use this to great effect.

Actually, it sounds like he isn't asking for animal skeletons, but more animal body parts.

Snake heads, better canine heads, feline heads, instead of just faces, bushy tails, feet with paws, that kind of thing.

    In which case....

This is my hope for the Mutant Booster Pack. I'd love to be able to make decent looking anthropomorphic animals (it's what I get for growing up in the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle / Usagi Yojimbo era).

    [/ QUOTE ]

    I could go for this!
  10. Imps (ACC and DMG) + Fulcrum Shift (ACC and Recharge).

    Sit back and watch.
  11. Figures. Meh.

*crosses fingers and hopes a dev will answer some of this*
  12. I've been looking for something that shows actual real life statistics (not in-game mechanics).

If at all possible I'd like to know:
    (a) how many subscribers there are.
    (b) average accounts logged in at a time on each server.
    (c) # of active Blasters, Scrappers, etc.

It's more than just a matter of curiosity. I can better convince friends to try the game if I can tell them how "active" the game is (well, maybe... guess it depends on the actual numbers).

Anyone know where to find this?

    Thanks!

Do you even type or go to that site anymore, or have you developed a browser add-on that searches paragonwiki for what you highlight and you choose the best matching answer, which is then inserted as a link in a new post?

    [/ QUOTE ]

He's actually developed psychic powers that allow him to know the link instantly and post it in a reply without actually typing anything. I theorize that he doesn't even need to enter the topics anymore to find out what the person is asking.
  14. Just make a fire/kin like the rest of the world.
  15. Hey, for anyone who cares, I went ahead and made both! I just couldn't decide and I liked too many of the costumes that only worked on one powerset.

Scraps of Time (DB/WP) and Scraps in Time (BS/SD). You can find me on the Pinnacle server running around without any extra costumes for now. As it stands, *** is an Egyptian with dual Khopesh, and SiT is a celtic warrior with kilt, battle paint, targe and flamberge.

I'd like to thank everyone again for the helpful advice and even some costume ideas.

The four reasons I wouldn't go with Earth are (a) it doesn't have a fast recharging single target blast to make an attack chain, (b) Since Ill/Rad has a heal, Earth's Embrace isn't needed that much, (c) the AoE damage attack has very short range, and (d) the Earth armor is really ugly. My stone tanks were designed with the armor in mind, but not my Ill/Rad.

Still, Seismic Smash makes the Earth APP very tempting.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    (a) With the amount of recharge I plan to pack into this build, my attack chain can be Blind, SW, Blind, SW... or hell, maybe even SW, SW, SW much like the neutrino bolt.

    (b) I didn't plan on taking Earth's Embrace. I don't even use my heal, to be honest.

    (c) The short range is annoying, but I'm willing to trade that for more control (good stun), which the other sets don't offer. Psy comes close with the knockup, but this has knockdown and stun.

    (d) I don't plan on using the armor, only taking it for a place to slot LoTG. Although, I might just take acrobatics instead.

And yes, from my limited experience so far, seismic smash is incredible. I don't even have it slotted yet!
  17. Alright, well, for what it's worth, I picked Earth. I stopped looking at what IO sets I could afford now, and started looking long term. I love the character, and I'm going to play him until he's fully purpled and has every badge attainable.

Fissure looked like a great AoE that offered even more control (something that ill is lacking), and it lets me slot Absolute Amazement. I didn't realize its short range until I tried to use it though...

Meh, it was a perfect reason to pick up Seismic Smash. I'm already in melee range, and this power will let me slot a fifth purple set with -recharge, Hecatomb.

Finally, there's rock armor, for the LoTG.

I don't have the build with me now, but in Mids, with AM and hasten active, the global recharge bonus is just over 216%.

    Perma everything. Perfect.
  18. Airhead, thanks a ton for running through my arc, not once, but twice. I really appreciate the feedback.

The first time I published this, I didn't realize what I was doing to my audience. I was making lackeys out of them while maintaining my hero's hero-ness. No one wants that, and I didn't see I was doing it. Thanks for the help.

I'm glad to see my rework made you feel more involved in the story, more heroic if you will. And for your third mission, you probably wiped out the Brute Squad in the middle of the bookshelf attack. He gets downgraded to LT on anything but invincible difficulty if you're solo.

Still a few details to be ironed out, and now I know about them.

    Thanks again!

This is going to sound incredibly snarky, so bear with me.

Because not everyone thinks you have to hit 50 in the shortest amount of time possible.

Yeah, that's right. You see, this game, instead of saying that max level is when the game gets good and everything before it is filler, says the journey is the most important part of the game.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Forgive me for sounding defensive here, but I completely understand that the journey is the most important part. Up until inventions, there was essentially nothing to do once you hit 50.

I just couldn't believe that you would want to stop leveling just to get all the content. I love all the content, and I am obsessed with experiencing it all as much as you are, but, that is what altaholicism is for.

Plus, now with Oro, you can get any badges you miss, right?
  20. I drink Mountain Dew about as often as most people breathe.

It recently went on sale, and I now have about 30 cubes sitting in my garage.

    Illusion PvP

    [ QUOTE ]
The main ability I am thinking of dropping for pvp is Spectral Terror. I just don't imagine this being highly effective in pvp since it is a pbaoe summon people will just run away from him.

    [/ QUOTE ]

This can be good if you hide under the Terror. People running away from you if you're low health/end or otherwise need a minute to recoup.
  22. [ QUOTE ]

Don't forget the double infl/infamy bonus when XP is turned off.

    [/ QUOTE ]

This was one of my questions.

    Is this true?
  23. Sorry, I'm well aware that power boost makes my holds longer, it's just that the recharge makes this kind of useless.

The heal just feels really week, and I think my slots are better spent on control to prevent the damage in the first place.

Again, on the heal: Maybe I'm a pretentious jerk, but if you kill my anchor, it's not my fault the baddies can hit and damage you. I understand AoE is an indiscriminate killer, and I understand that my anchor can't always be the last one to die. Generally though, even if he dies early, nothing else should be moving anyway.
  24. [ QUOTE ]
OK this may be a really stupid question but how do you all remember what keys to hit, I think that is the main reason i click because i can "see" what i want.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Like I said, I just bind to keys that are really close to things I hit all the time and that makes them easy to find. Q and R are easy because they're just above left and right strafe. A long time ago, I got used to using R and F for autorun and follow, so the keys T and G are just to the right of those and also easy to find. C and V are likewise easy to hit because of position.

I try to keep them to the same function no matter what character I'm using. T and G are typically travel powers (fly and hover, super and combat jump). Q and E I use for toggles and summons. V is my "panic button," whether it's personal force field, phase shift, or god mode.
