Most fun:
- Assault Bot - Nothing says impending doom like this towering robot. The first time I ever summoned this thing I couldn't play for ten minutes while the shock and awe wore off.
- Full Auto - Long animation, but entirely worth it. The sound effects are usually sufficient, but I occasionaly find myself yelling "RAT-TA-TA-TA-TA..." or, "Say hello to my little friend!" Best if used with the tommy gun.
- Teleport - Does anyone else appreciate the true "ninja travel power" we have in teleport? Seriously, a ninja doesn't run. One minute he's nowhere to be seen, and the next, he's just there.
- Team teleport - You guys weren't ready to just jump in to the AV spawn? Oops. I'll bet Leroy Jenkins would have loved this.
- I was going to start listing some of my favorite warshade attacks, but this list would be too long. There's nothing like an entire powerset that demands "Feed me more bodies!"
- Shadow Maul - This animation feels longer than Full Auto, but to much much less effect.
- You know, I can't think of anything else. Mostly because if it's not fun, I don't use it.

Quote:Two nights ago, on my Bots/Traps, I did some of Borea's repeatable RWZ missions at +0/x8. You know those cave rooms with three groups of enemies? I teamported myself into the middle of it and aggro'd all three groups at once.I'd highly recommend Masterminds, especially Bots or Thugs. Bots/Traps is pretty much the ultimate soloing machine at high levels, even with a low-cost build...
A few minutes later the mission was complete and I resummoned the protector bot I lost. -

Yes, you can have multiple pets. Recharge is awesome.
Also, they keep firing even after you die. -
Break Frees.
Other than that, you'll get no protection from sets. The mez resistance doesn't really help much, as even 100% resistance only cuts the duration in half.
You'd be better off building for defense and -tohit in your primary so that you avoid getting hit by the mez. -
I'm all for it, and like some others, wonder why this wasn't done to begin with.
I would love to see a purple "Recipe Awarded" notification. -
Quote:Loa Bone for villains.Let's each add another pet to the list! Although since it starts with MM's, the wolf shouldn't be on there. The Warwolf Whistle is from a blueside arc.
So I'll add.... the Heavy Mech from RV! Heroes get the Longbow one and villains get the Arachnos one.
Amy's Ward for heroes. -

Quote:Ohhhh so very much this! And I know that the 90s you have of Eclipse doesn't seem to last anywhere near as long as the 90s wait for it to come back up again after you die!
Target a minion in the middle of the mob. Check.
Super speed and combat jumping are on. Check.
All powers recharged: Eclipse, Sunless Mire, Gravity Well, Unchain Essence. Check.
Pressing F button.
Activating Eclipse, Mire... Oh crap, I was airborne and didn't stop at the minion. Eclipse only hit two enemies.
Shift to dwarf! Shift to dwarf! ANIMATE FASTER, DAMNIT!
Bloody hell.
Now, I could rez, but I've got to wait for Eclipse to recharge. -
I generally keep my difficulty the default +0/x1, but I'll ratchet up a few levels if the character starts to feel strong, but I rarely increase the spawn size.
There are exceptions. My SS/WP brute likes the difficulty on +0/x3 to make sure there's enough fury to go around and fuel for RttC. My bots/traps was mind-numbingly easy until +2/x8.
The most unusual case is my warshade. While leveling him up, I had to set the difficulty up to +0/x6 to make the game easy enough. He would get murdered by small spawns, but tore through large ones. Mirelock. -

Quote:In +1/0 the 0 isn't doing anything. It's effectively being +1/x1. The zero is the default setting until you change it.I do +1/0 AV. Why why why would anyone not want having AVs?
Now, a question:
What does the second number do? I know what it means, but what does it do?
+1/x1 means enemies that are one level higher than you, spawned for one hero.
+2/x6 means enemies that are two levels higher and spawned for six heroes.
-1/x8 means you are farming for purples. -
Quote:Meh, right now I'm in the "It's not over" camp.stick me in the "oh...the build up was for that?!" camp.
A slightly tweaked Rikti invasion event, meh, I'll be brutally honest here and say they would have done themselves a hell of a lot more favours if they hadn't of teased about it and hyped it up but just outright came out a said what was going to happen a week ago. People probably wouldn't be so dang hostile.
All the teasing did nothing but build hype since most Rikti invasions just get announced meaning people were leaning more towards the "it could be but why all the hype then?" slant of things.
Sorry Niv and the rest of the crew, the gesture is greatly appreciated but you kind of shot yourself in the foot when you went all cryptic clues on us.
I'm sure that it's only going to build from here. -
Quote:I will attest to all of this.Another factor to consider is how often you're going to be playing your new kheld. If you're a casual player with long breaks between playing sessions, and/or if you're prone to altitis and might switch to another toon or three for a few weeks then you might stick with Peacebringers. Every frickin' time I leave the game for the real world for longer than a week, it seems I forget everything I ever learned about my Warshade, while my Peacebringer took no readjustment at all.
Now that may just be my spotty memory at work, but it's something to consider.
EDIT - having said that, let me just say however that my lv 40 so'd Warshade - once I've gotten familiar with him again - tears through +2x4 spawns as fast or faster than my IO'd lv 50 PB tackles his standard +2x1. 'Least, that's how it feels.
It always takes me a several minutes and a few faceplants to get back into my warshade. But once I do... woe betide any who stand in my way. -
Visit a tailor. There's one in Steel, Cap Au, or the Vanguard Base that are easy to get to.

When I get burned out of CoH, I'll be getting Team Fortress 2.
I don't see it happening for a while though, but hey, it could happen. -
Quote:A whole lot of this. It really depends on what you're going for, what you have going for you, and what you're up against. I'll give a few examples:In general, if only trying to mitigate with one position or damage type, I'd go for L/S over just melee, because L/S will mitigate a bunch of ranged/AoE attacks that happen to also be L/S damage typed. However, I rarely try to just mitigate one class or position of attacks. When trying to mitigate in a well-rounded way, I usually prefer positional defenses unless my powersets include damage typed defenses already.
SR scrapper: Has very high positional defenses. It makes sense to continue adding positional defenses to softcap to all three.
Energy Aura Stalker: Has very high typed defenses. It makes sense to continue adding S/L, F/C, and E/N until softcapped to all three sets.
Electric Armor tank: Has no innate defense, so may be forced to focus on one position, or one typed set. I'd put the focus on S/L, unless I could reliably get melee and ranged.
My AR blaster: No innate defense, but can keep foes out of melee. I'm relying on ranged defense with this character, because I essentially have perfect melee defense already. Had I gone for S/L, which comes with a good deal of melee, I'd only get protection from the S/L ranged and AoE attacks. I chose to be defended against ranged attacks, which grants some E/N defense as well. So all I worry about is non-E/N AoE attacks. -
Just ask yourself two questions.
How many melee attacks don't have a S/L component? I would think that if it's a melee attack, more often than not, it's got some smashing or lethal part of it.
How many S/L attacks can come from range? Melee defense won't do anything to stop ranged or AoE attacks, but S/L will.
It's almost a moot point, however, because melee defense bonuses always give you half that value in S/L and vice versa.
Personally, I'd go with S/L on this one. -
