Purples are what make my Warshade survive...
But really, I see where you're going with this. Purple sets don't amount to any survivability (most of them, anyway). There are some nice +HP and regen bonuses in a few, but very little in the way of defense.
I think it stems from a misconception about purple sets. Some people just think that purples are far and away better than anything else for every aspect of a character, but don't really know anything about them because they "can't farm for/afford/be bothered with" them. -

Quote:That's kind of what I was getting at. There's nothing MMs can do that somebody else can't...Depending on the build, everything the other ATs can do but better?
Tank, do massive damage, crowd control, heal and buff? I know a trap mastermind can do all of that and solo AVs.
But I don't think there's anything anyone can do that MMs cannot do just as well. -
-
Quote:I do admit it happens to be my playstyle, and I also don't make MMs with the single target buffs. On my pain, yeah I'll toss out heals if they're needed, but generally that's not the case as redside ATs tend to be more self sufficient anyway.Good for you, that's your own personal playstyle and I congratulate you for it, but I'm talking in more general lines.
In my opinion, if you're an MM with buffs and/or heals (FF, Therm, Pain) your teammates should take priority over your pets to get the buffs/heals, especially if you're teaming with SG and Coalition. That's why I categorize them as team support (along with Corruptors, Controllers and Defenders).
I was just trying to find a specialized role for the reasons mentioned: Corruptors are inherently better at support, and there has to be something MMs can do that corruptors cannot.
Quote:I also doubt, with all due respect, that you could cut your way through the Freedom Phalanx in an LRSF by yourself, or even through Romulus Nictus in the ITF (not before the rest of the team caught up anyways)
My bots/traps can handle damn near anything (The entire Freedom Phalanx being one exception, but I imagine I could find a way to pull them separately) the game has to throw at me. Not as fast as a team of seven others, mind you, but I can handle it. When the seven other people in my PuG TF don't like my bots getting in the way, I just go my own way and we all meet at the boss. -
Stealth patch to fix the newest AE exploit, I'd imagine.
It'd be nice if they pushed the Mito adjustment as well. -

I can't wait to see him come back to these boards to complain when his character that he spent all the time/effort/influence required to make the build that's been posted fails as horribly as Challenger did.
Oh the wailing and gnashing of teeth!
Also, Hyper, that build looks alright, except Resist Elements might be a tad underslotted for resistance. -
Quote:I have to take exception with the bolded part.Since damage is something everyone can do, and it's not unique to any AT (redside) then what determines your role in a team is that what your AT can do that other ATs can't. Therefore a Corruptor and MM's role is support...
My MMs rarely support the team (except by accident, for instance, when they're close enough for the FFG or Word of Pain when it goes off).
Also, since corruptors support better, I think MMs need a clearly defined role that's not "support the team." Any idea what that could be? What can MMs do that the others (namely corruptors) cannot?
I don't know. I guess the team role for an MM is to just be a team. No one likes my bots getting in the way, I might as well cut my own path to the boss. -
Quote:I know there's times that I've seen Dark Regen fill both of my bars. It doesn't happen anywhere in my video, but there is a spot while fighting the Carnies that I get back more than I spent. With the Theft of Essence +end you can sometimes get more end back then you've used. I know I have more often then I could have hoped.
Also, I've answered a ton of PMs lately requesting my build, so I'll just post it.

Quote:And this is the reason I treat him like a whining child. If he were to put some actual work or analysis into it, do some math to try and prove his point, I would treat him with respect.I wont give any evidence of why _____ is broken, I will just state it.
Until then, I will treat him as he is treating us. -

Quote:I play a very budget limited Type 1.5, so I'm pretty much monocolored decks. I've got one I call "Bounce, Counter, BOOM!" which revolves around bouncing and countering your stuff until I wipe you clean with flying creatures and the ... big 6/6 creature that lets me steal spells when I counter them, but I can't remember it's name. You should see the dragon and thallid deck I'm building. Purely defensive for the first four to six turns (which it is good at being!), and after that, at least one dragon will pop out every turn thereafter. That deck has four Dragon Broodmothers in it. With all those saprolings lying about... yum!
My other good one is a black cleric/zombie deck that kills you by sacrificing my creatures. Yes, you read that right.
My crowning moments of awesome you can see in my video, linked in my sig. Also completing an MoSTF without any outside buffs. That was glorious. -
Regen and +HP are enhanced by heal, so the additional items are just redundant.
-
Quote:Fixed. This thread, of course, is only meant to be on the topic of improving perceived endurance issues.
EDIT: It would very much help your case to offer some sort of proof that these endurance issues exist. "Everyone takes stamina" is not valid proof.
Do some math. Put some effort into an analysis. Then people might start to take you seriously and treat you with respect and not as an incessant whiner. I know I would. -
You mean I'm not the only one who still plays!?!?! Damnit, why are there no tourneys in my area...
My DA/fire tank is my end hog. Dark Armor is notorious for this aspect, and I could only devote two slots to stamina, and I run tough/weave in addition to all the other resistance/damage toggles. Before I even started IOing, I didn't have a problem with endurance. Now that I've got the +end proc in Dark Regen, I never run dry.
Just build smart and play smart. -
I think I'd like to take another stab at the original question.
They recommend a WS because a well played and well built WS far surpasses a similar PB in terms of power against a large scale of enemies.
They forget to mention that a poorly played PB far surpasses a similar WS in terms of everything. -
I completely agree, especially with the part I have bolded. Proper slotting of attacks plays a key role in the management of your endurance bar, as does intelligently playing the character.
-
Excuse me? You claimed that there's a problem because defenders do less DPE than blasters.
That's a bit more than "Endurance costs are too high" by itself. -
http://www.google.com/search?q=defin...ween+the+lines
I'm not saying you can't solo a defender. I'm saying you should expect to use more endurance to damage things. -
Quote:Thus why I said I can read between the lines. It's a phrase to say that I can see what you're trying to get at or where you're coming from when you've actually typed something else.Did you read the post before that where someone else brought up the Defender? Did you notice that I didn't mention my Defender, but rather, Defenders in general as an example of a disadvantaged class?
You think it's unfair and unequal for blasters to do more damage per endurance than defenders. You complain about how much endurance it takes you to solo. I can pretty much figure out that you're soloing defenders. -
Quote:Endurance use is not equal. Defenders use the same endurance for their Energy Blasts as Blasters, but do half the damage. Thus, they use twice the endurance defeating the same foes. That's not equality.
Sure it's not a "knowing untruth," but it's dishonest enough in my book. -
Thanks. This is what I meant, I just didn't add the bit about pseudopets.
