First, this is an AoE centric game. You might as well say "the PB is going to be subpar" and stop there.

Second, the PB is going to be outshined by the WS, the blaster, the tanker, the scrapper, the brute, the controller, the defender, the corruptor, the dominator, the VEAT, and the WS. The stalker is debatable.

The moment you show me a PB soloing an AV I'll give this argument any weight at all. When it gets down to the AV, my WS's sunless mire still provides more damage than build up, and I can sit in nova and blast just as well as you can, or dwarf and tank as well as you can.

PvP is a fraction of the game, an even smaller fraction of the population, and so far broken that the rest of your argument holds no weight either.

Survival is also about killing them before they kill you. Even if my blaster could only survive half the damage your PB could (which I doubt), the fact that it deals four times the damage (more faster recharging AoEs with higher base damage) more than makes up for it.

You seem to be missing the point of arguing here. I'm not trying to berate PBs or people who play them. I'm trying to point out what I feel are serious balance issues. PBs need buffs, either in terms of survivability or damage, to fit on the scale as it is.

I've seen blasters tank tower buffed Lord Recluse. Wouldn't be hard to fit aid other in the build too.

By the way, I believe you'd need a blue inspiration between your nuke and the heal. Several if you don't plan on using conserve power (which my blaster gets too). The difference is my nuke will actually kill the mob its in.

Dechs is running under the assumption that it only takes one ACC common IO or +3 SO to cap your chance to hit even con enemies at 95%. Any accuracy bonuses or frankenslotting usually results in wasted enhancement against even levels, but will allow for the same chance to hit against +1s and +2s.

There's a very big difference between what I'm saying and what you are trying to infer.

A peacebringer is designed to be a jack of all trades. It took heavy penalties in damage output to be able to have its versatility. The same level of versatility is available to the other ATs that it was designed to emulate, and they all do more damage.

Your Earth/FF and your Ice/emp all do things better than other ATs do. Your peacebringer does not. A blaster or a scrapper can control as well as your PB does, can do more damage than your PB can, and can survive as well as or better than your PB can.

You're missing my entire point. I don't care that peacebringers are sub-par when I'm looking for people to invite to my team. Hell, on my first MoSTF I invited a peacebringer.

I care because the people who enjoy playing PBs are being shortchanged. The PB does not fit on our scale of balance. I would like to see that corrected. That's all I'm saying, and I'm astounded that you offer such opposition to it.

Don't try and skew this, because I'll go the other way in a heartbeat.

Why bother playing the first 40 levels when I know that for the last 10 (which account for much more playtime than the first 40) I will be completely outclassed?

That's what happened. I played my Peacebringer and liked him well enough until everyone started picking up epics. Suddenly everyone had the versatility my PB did, along with heaps more damage.

I tried to enjoy it. I really gave it my best. Peacebringers, in every aspect, are sub-par.

I mention Achilles Heel because it's one of the only good things about -def, it allows you to slot an awesome proc. Otherwise, with how easy it is to hit things in this game and how trivial it is to cap accuracy, -def that requires a tohit check to begin with is useless.

"My" blaster is level 16, and I'm undecided on my pools. Even so, this blaster is everything I wished my PB could have been and more. In fact, I deleted the PB and kept the same concept for the blaster.

The point isn't what level I can do things. The fact is: Everything the peacebringer can do, the blaster can too, all while dealing absurdly larger amounts of damage.

The only valid difference I can think of is that Peacebringers get an AoE control. To counter that, I can actually stack stuns on the bosses, and wipe out the minions in two attacks that the PB could control.

Great, and if you don't kill the EB/AV in the three minutes, you've got a crash that leaves you almost dead and without endurance to deal with.
  10. Scrappers benefit more from Soul Drain and Fiery Embrace thanks to a higher damage modifier.

If you want to be a little more survivable, go with the brute.

Any resistance a Peacebringer gets burns a power pick, in fact, several to get all the resistances. Even Dwarf is a power pick. I've discussed Dwarf already, so I'll say that I'd rather take a S/L defensive shield (which, thanks to defense mechanics, protects against more than just S/L) that has cold resistance, and only run the cost of one toggle.

I mentioned rad blast, but I guess my melee attacks don't debuff defense. That's still not a point in favor of the Peacebringer, because we all slot accuracy to the 95% tohit cap, and Achilles Heel procs do not stack at all.

My fault, I guess. It's not easy to put sarcasm into text.

Follow the Dark Armor Sucks link in my sig.

I wasn't serious. Dark Armor is phenomenal on a tank.
  15. I've come back to this thread, this time to make a serious response.

    Peacebringers.

They're supposed to be a "jack of all trades" AT that does a little bit of everything. The problem is that they do too little of everything.

Peacebringers have resistance and heals which weaker than a scrapper's and far weaker than tanker's. But that's because they have ranged AoE attacks. Is it? Because I see scrappers and tankers throwing fireballs, tanks with gloom and dark obliteration. Many of them have either a ranged single target or a ranged cone attack in their primary/secondary as well. Scrappers are doing more ranged damage from behind larger amounts of mitigation. Who's the tankmage now?

Peacebringers have ranged AoE attacks that pale in comparison to that of blasters. Even switching into nova form and forsaking mitigation still leaves you behind the curve. Then again, peacebringers have more survival tools than blasters. Do they? Because I see blasters with defense and resistance shields that are of greater value than the PBs. They can get +max health or even a god mode.

Let's face it, people, everyone does everything better than a Peacebringer.
  16. They left the monkeys run for an extra week. That was your double double xp.
  17. Thanks for the correction, Sailboat.

My advice, if concept is not an issue, go with elec melee if your primary doesn't have a damage aura, but take Dual Blades if it does.
  18. I don't want mastermind attacks to do more damage, but I do believe they need something to make them worthwhile picks.

What I would love to see is the attacks given a gauntlet-like taunt effect.

He means since the hits come in separate damage ticks that it will feel lighter because you see smaller numbers.

If mitigation is what you're after, then elec is the way to go. You get heaps of knockdown and some stuns. Dual Blades really only gives you a PBAoE knockdown and a bit of -tohit if you take that combo, unless I'm forgetting something.

EDIT: It appears I am forgetting a few somethings. Sailboat's correction below notes a lot of mitigation present in Dual Blades. That said, Dual Blades is on par with elec in terms of mitigation. I would say that, in comparison to elec, DB excels in sustained DPS, particularly single target. The Blinding Feint or Empower combo will have some great synergy with defensive sets that have damage auras.

These two gems alone have made this one of the funniest threads I've read in a long time.
  22. Not too bad.

I reworked it by moving a couple slots around. I'm not sure how much you use Orbiting Death, but assuming that you swap forms regularly, you won't get enough use out of it to warrant the set of Obliteration. I moved that set to Dwarf Mire (since it does decent damage on its own) and added some extra enhancement to it on top of that.

I don't like seeing an Eclipse with only recharge, as it benefits from having some resistance and accuracy enhancement. If the way you have it works for you, that's more than enough. In my data chunk, you'll see I've frankenslotted it to max recharge and get good amounts of accuracy and resistance by only adding one more slot (also stolen from Orbiting Death).

I'd also suggest some resistance enhancement in Black Dwarf. What I did was steal a slot from Sunless Mire by frankenslotting Acc/Recharge IOs to get the same enhancement in three slots. You might be able to free up more from somewhere else like this.

The purple sets you use are the cheaper ones, but I'll just mention that "cheap" is a very relative term.

Lastly, regarding the Alpha slotting (and I'm just realizing now that this is something to add to the guide): The two I would suggest are the Endurance/Resistance or the Recharge one. The first one makes sure you never worry about endurance, while boosting the resistance of things like Dwarf and Eclipse, which aren't at the ED cap (even in my data chunk below). Going with the recharge alpha is only a good idea if you don't plan on exemplaring, but it would allow you to remove a lot of recharge enhancement from your build to free up slots to put elsewhere. For example, it'd be nice if you could put some damage into Unchain Essence.
