  1. I'd have to find it, but I know it's been mentioned several times by our devs that ED was necessary to implement the endgame system which eventually became the invention system.

Sorry Grim, but you've got the wrong info here. ED was implemented to allow inventions to be useful. Otherwise, even with inventions, you'd still just six slot damage.

How much freedom do you really have? There are laws here. Things you cannot do. Are you not a human being?

The only real weakness is the endurance you would be burning through, but that's very easy to overcome compared to the holes a lot of the other sets have.
Gee, except for the -regen, that sounds a lot like Dark Armor. And I heard that sucks.
  4. Yes, ED applies to sets. There's no reason it shouldn't. You get more enhancement out of sets than you do out of Common IOs or SOs.

The matter has been passed to Black Scorpion and the powers team for comment on if WoC's behavior is Working as Intended or if there is indeed a bug in the damage component not disabling Stealth on damage initiation.

    Have a nice day deary.
Hey, "I know spelled wrong in French," it's been over a month, have you heard anything?

If I got to live in a world without danger and everything was taken care of, like Praetoria, I could live without my "freedom."
  7. It's not the mitigation, it's the lack of any kind of secondary effect to benefit from defender values.

I don't see it as a problem, personally.
  8. I think Soul Drain is a bit excessive. You don't need any more damage buffs.
  9. If you want to pile on -resistance, there's no better secondary than sonic blast. Radiation Blast may have more AoE damage, but the -res procs do not stack at all (even from multiple casters). You're better off using howl to increase the damage of your seven teammates even further.

If you want to pile on +damage, there's no better than kinetics.

I find the only problem with kinetics is that a second one becomes redundant. Damage cap is damage cap, and it's relatively easy to attain. I think you're better off with radiation emission, as you get some +damage from Accelerate Metabolism and you can add assault. Radiation brings many more tools to the table than kinetics.

I believe you mean Stygian Circle here.
  11. Send it in a PM, I'll be happy to go over it and see what I can do.

Just be sure to export the "data chunk."

The only semi-reliable way I've found to control that sort of mess is to beat the team in by a good margin and pull the back of the room forward, to be sure even the most blood-thirsty scrappers/brutes/crabs/widows/etc are well-sated by the horde at the entrance.
I found the best way to deal with these type of rooms is to rely on the control powers of your tank set. I run around keeping minions stunned with oppressive gloom, smacking bosses to keep their attention, and sleeping entire spawns with Salt Crystals (from the epic).

To add to this list: Anyone during the rage crash of super strength characters. Being immune to damage buffs also prevents damage debuffs from having an effect. You can practically fill your 10 seconds of rage crash with Sands of Mu and a veteran staff attack that each do full damage and benefit from Rage's tohit bonus during that time.
  14. Healing doesn't do as much for a team as force fields do. Then again, Cold Domination gives almost that much defense, but also reduces AVs to underlings.

Preventing damage is always better than recovering from it.

I've got an AR/EM. I still love ignite. When it comes to AVs/GMs, that's my single target damage.

More than that, ignite is a great way to plug a door. With all the KB I have, I can keep things cooking for a long time.

It's not as solid as a stone, but it's got the same resist to energy that Invuln does. My particular dark armor tank also happens to have the same defensive values as well.

Heal off the towers, and even if he does get lucky, he doesn't actually kill me.

I don't think that works how you're thinking.

From what I've seen, it puts a taunt aura on the character hit by it. So if they hit the blaster with it, suddenly the blaster is taunting all the Ghouls. I imagine it's to make tanking a little more difficult.

I just wanted to drop by and say thanks for letting me know. I'm always glad to hear it when my guide has the intended effect.

I can't comment on the build right now, as I'm at work and don't have mids handy.

EDIT: After looking at it in Mids, I can't say I'd change much. I'd dump the kismet, since if you don't have the power toggled on it's not doing you any good. Where I'd put that slot... I have no idea. I think I'd drop it in Stygian Circle, add the Endmod/Acc/Rchg to it and get a couple hit points. I dunno.

I think I can help you out.

I've got a survivability analysis tool that will help you see how much your regen is doing for you. It's also a great tool to compare similar builds and see which gives you the most survivable incoming DPS.

The link is in my signature.
  21. Very few people will just hand you a build. Personally, I charge a modest 750 million influence for my time.

Then again, you could always post the build you have and I'll happily offer suggestions on how to improve it. That's always free.
  22. I appreciate the compliment. I'm not an expert, but I do what I can around here.

Don't just listen to me, though, you can see for yourself. Just drum up a few builds and import the mitigation numbers into my Survivability Analysis (link in sig).

I'm not going to comment on your build, as you've already got a few of the experts helping you out. I just want to throw a few thoughts at you with regards to tanking.

The tanker who is the last man standing has failed.

I cannot stress how important it is that you hold your aggro. I don't care how much you can survive, if the AV or the bosses are not attacking you, you're not tanking. I built a Dark Armor Tank that could survive the apocalypse, but I made sure before I got that far that he could keep the attention on him.

Now, I understand that there's little can be done to prevent outright stupidity on the part of your teammates. It's a crying shame to see a blaster tear down a hallway he can't handle. Let him go, he's got to learn somehow.
  24. Defense is far and away the best thing to build for. After that you want +Max HP. The last thing you should be building for as a Willpower Tanker is more regen.

When RttC gives you hundreds of regen percentage, a 10% bonus here and there won't make a drop in the bucket. Getting more max HP enhances the power of ALL of your regen. Defense, though, is the best because you begin to layer mitigation at that point. Fewer things hit you, so the regen becomes multiplied.

Another important aspect for a WP tanker to focus on is a way to hold large groups of aggro. WP has the weakest of the taunt auras, so you must learn to make maximum use out of gauntlet and taunt. I suggest picking up an Ancillary pool that will give you more AoE damage, since SS will only have footstomp. It may be a difficult leveling process, but after level 38 you'll probably do fine.
