Best Damage Buffer

Auroxis

I was thinking about making a toon to buff a team to extraordinary levels of damage... can anyone think of something that could better a Kinetic / Sonic, I think Damage cap, speedboosted along with a -res Cone should cover it, or is there a better way??

Ta... anything else btw that can increase this combo effectiveness, I was thinking -res proc from pvp set in a PbAoe power.

Can't really beat Kin/Sonic for multiplying team damage. The only issue is when you have another kin on the team, as kins don't really stack as well as other primaries.

Auroxis - Emp/Rad/Power Defender Pylon Video Soloing an AV
Pelvic Thunder - SS/Elec/Mu Brute
Sorajin - Elec/Nin Stalker
Neuropain - Sonic/Mental/Elec Blaster

I was also considering Rad, or Ice... the damage from Ice Storm and Blizzard far out weighs sonic, but the -res from howl is very nice. Then I could also go for -res procs in the Rad powers but then thats only a chance for

Sooo........ What's going to be most effective? I'm planning on a flyer with ranged softcap.

If you want to pile on -resistance, there's no better secondary than sonic blast. Radiation Blast may have more AoE damage, but the -res procs do not stack at all (even from multiple casters). You're better off using howl to increase the damage of your seven teammates even further.

If you want to pile on +damage, there's no better than kinetics.

I find the only problem with kinetics is that a second one becomes redundant. Damage cap is damage cap, and it's relatively easy to attain. I think you're better off with radiation emission, as you get some +damage from Accelerate Metabolism and you can add assault. Radiation brings many more tools to the table than kinetics.

Yep, I'd agree with this. If you can't cap yourself with Fulc Shift and Siphon Power there's no hope for you

I'd probably go Elec or Power mastery for the big hitting melee attack. PBU won't do a lot for you at all but Force of Nature might be interesting for a Kin too.

*Edit : Just saw your reason. Wouldn't going the Elec Route and getting Thunder Strike be a better option?

Was trying to stay at Range as much as poss, but ye possibly as a kite thunderstrike may be nice, fast rech too, I forgot about that not being Single target.

Being a Kin you're better off at short (not quite melee but not far off) range anyway so ducking in to splatter something you've softened up shouldn't be too much disruption.

The big orange numbers will make it worthwhile

Looks like a fun build, I would reconsider electricity mastery though. Power sink is not needed and inferior to transference, thunder strike can be annoying if it kbs just a little too much; charged armour is good but let me just mention power mastery instead. Powerbuild up or conserve power (no slots), total focus (higher damage than thunder strike and no kb, with a stun to stack on bosses with screech) and force of nature that, with defender values, can cap all resistances but psi and Kin can easily manage the crash. Just my two cents. Kin/sonic is my favourite combo anyway so you can't really go wrong..!

Can't get the -res proc into Total Focus... it's for large mob damage maximization.

Ah okay. Well in that case your original dark mastery will, IMO, be more useful as soul drain will hit more with that proc. Yes the +damage is mostly overkill, but the +Tohit is useful and oppressive gloom is a reasonable power for /sonic. Thunder strike is also slower to activate and the aoe radius is very small.

Thats what I was thinking :P is the Radius a flat circle around a character or is it a sphere? so if i was flying above it would still hit?

I looked at this, Thunderstrikes AOE is only 3 feet smaller (at 12) than Soul Drains, which kinda surprised me. Seems the Defender APP version has a larger area than the Brute or Domi one from their sets, which is what swayed me toward recommending it. Mind you Red Tomax could easily be wrong here. If it is 7 like the other versions I'd be more hesitant.

It's a flat circle, I believe. Trust me though, as kinetics you ARE going to be in melee range, so there's no point in trying to beat around it with combat jumping, or trying to foobar it with hover, or anything like that: Just run right next to the enemies and stand there. It's not as bad as you think (considering I used to do it all the time as a kin/rad. That was fun)

I'd personally go in a different direction and go with Mace Mastery if you don't mind switching sides and running the patron arc. As a Kin you should be in melee often so S/L defense will help with this and it's pretty easy to softcap with Scorpion Shield. This will let you go after other set bonuses, mainly recharge. I know I couldn't live with just 15% global recharge without Hasten.

Also, I'd find a way to slot up Shriek. Shriek + Scream yields about the same DPS as Shout without factoring in the res debuffs.

The main reason I would always choose soul drain over thunderstrike is because of what happens during animation. TS: slow period of not being able to do anything, SD: bizarre buggy period where enemies appear to not do anything for a split second, and then there's the shorter activation time for yourself. If you're dead set on that proc then soul drain seems to be more usable. You should have decent global recharge to have it up every 30 secs or so?

Go for five decimations + apocalypse proc in shriek. It will wreck things.

Like my ranged def?

Though ranged defence would definitely help, you will be in melee range every battle anyway, and drawing aggro with FS. You could do it all at range but then your melee teammates would miss that 50% guaranteed buff from you...and siren's song is usually more than enough to halt a ranged alpha. The Armageddon proc really is amazing in Shriek, as you will be spamming it for the short duration -res anyway.

Just run right next to the enemies and stand there.
That may have worked on your Kin/Rad but it's not the playstyle of a kin/sonic. Kin/Sonic runs into melee, FSs then hops back out for Howl. I definitely stay at range for all but FS and I've built for Ranged Def. Do I die sometimes after an overeager FS (going in before aggro/control established)? Sure, but Veng is common these days so whatev.

To the original question - as has been said before, it's unquestionably Kin/Sonic and 2nd place is pretty far behind, for improving team damage. My own toon with this combo is my Lamborghini, fast and lots of raw horsepower. I actually do treat him like I would a Lambo, I don't take him out very often, just for special occasions (pace is insane, I'm honestly tired after a tf, plus I hate kinning for pugs so he plays with "friends and family" only). I wish I kept such stats, but I have no doubt his average completion time for tfs is higher than any of my other toons.

Global = Hedgefund (or some derivation thereof)

Try it, you'll like it. Recharge bonuses are very useful to kinetics. Area defense will end up being more useful than ranged defense in many situations. My kinetics corruptor is 13% melee defense, 9% ranged, and 28% area. She has no problem running in right after the tank (role, not archetype) and standing right next to them through the whole battle. Even against +4s.
