Best Damage Buffer

I will post again, repeating what has been posted before: siphon power and fulcrum are very formidable DEBUFFs. I spam that siphon power with transfusion and transference for extra debuffing. It's not pure damage resistance, but taking damage off the top of incoming hits always helps.

Overall group damage, yes Kin/sonic. However if you are looking to melt AVs then Rad/Sonic. Although rad can get pretty boring as you are steamrolling through normal content with teams.

Kinetics does not work optimally in most AV fights, because there is only one target to get a Fulcrum Shift to hit. Double-stacked, you will be at 150% damage bonus from FS. Add that to your enhanced powers and you're doing (200% after enhancements + 150% FS damage bonus) 350% damage. That isn't bad, but it is good to be aware of the weakness of your chosen power set.

I went with Cold Domination / Sonic for my debuffer. Cold Domination's Benumb is the best debuff in the game. It reduces the effectiveness of literally every power they activate. Heals do less; control powers have lower magnitudes (Ghost Widow's hold can be shrugged off by Tankers); AVs do less damage; god-mode powers have almost no noticeable effect. That's right, Reichsman's Unstoppable won't stop him from dying. On top of all of that, Cold Domination has two resistance debuffs, the best endurance recovery buff in the game, and defense buffs for the team. Sleet is just amazing; it debuffs resistance and defense in an AoE, and acts like a control power as it causes knockdown to everything in the area. Paired with /Sonic, I debuff AVs for (200% enhanced attacks X 2 or 2.5) 100%-150% -resistance. That makes my enhanced attack powers do 400%-500% damage. Add a Kinetic to the team after that and AVs drop like bosses.

No mention of Siphon Power? That's an easy 50 - 75% damage buff there, before factoring in sonic's -res. Also FS does last 45 seconds, and an initial AV fight usually does have minions to feed from...

Don't get me wrong though I am jealous of Cold's powers.

Cold's about as good as it gets for AV debuffing, but kinetics definitely isn't lacking in that area. They can kill the boss's damage output and keep a constant 200% damage buffing going on the team.

This thread makes me pine for the days when our little static team had a gravity/kin, sonic/sonic defender and a spiny scrapper. Much death did ensue from damage capped, resistance slashed foes. Yeah, kinetic/sonic blast defender or corruptor makes a team a juggernaut.

Donna,

Thanks for this thread. I have been wanting to play a defender for a chance to do something different in the game and this build and suggestions were fantastic. It's not often I find a build that I tweak from ideas I get in the forum but this one is perfect.
