So when will defenders get Thermal/Fire?

I see no reason why they shouldn't profilerate thermal, but there may be some factors I'm not considering.

Fire Blast i'm not too sure about. It's all about damage and has no debuff/control powers what so ever(Maybe RoF), so not very defender'y.

Eh, a lot of defenders don't actually need mitigation from their secondary anyway. It's not like my dark/psi actually *cares* that his secondary does -recharge. And dead mobs do no damage anyway, so you can still mitigate damage that way.

(Yeah, I can't wait for thermal/fire too.)

I assume it's coming in the next round of ports. It was either Cold/ice, or Thermal/fire for the last round. Thermal would be nice to try out, but I have zero desire to play Fire blast. If I'm going to play it, it's going to be via a blaster, or corr.

min/maxers have been drooling over fire blast for defenders since proliferation started.

maybe change the DoT extra for fire and turn it in to minor ticks of damage that also include an additional debuff, like -regen for being burned. fire blast for defenders should not be made to do more damage than other defender blast sets, regardless if the same set for blasters or corruptors do.

Bah. I knew as I typed it that it sounded wrong. This is what I get for taking so many breaks since the i12 area. I thought Thermal/fire was a much more logical port than Traps/ar. I prefer Taps on MMs.

I would be pissed if Fire wasn't the highest damaging blast set for defenders. Min/maxers are using corrs anyway. Kin/fire, or Fire/kin with scourge? I know what one I would roll because I already did. Fire coming to defenders at this point is more coming full circle versus being cool, or really beneficial. Getting Fire before side switching happened would have been nice. Now, not so much.

Thermal/Fire is definitely next on the list for defender proliferation. There aren't really many alternatives.

Given that Archery has no special debuffs and Fire Control exists for that "other" supposedly low-ish damage AT, I think Fire Blast will be ported as is.

Archery has controls in Explosive Arrow(KB) and Stunning Shot(Stun). Stuns/Holds for blast sets get their highest duration values on defenders.

Its one of those things where it might not fit neatly into the normal defender niche, but if people understood that they wouldn't have any secondary debuffs when taking it, I don't see a problem.

Blasters get dual pistols, a set specializing in secondary effects. There won't be any problem with defenders getting fire. Concept > All.

Thermal/Fire as a combination won't be very offensively powerful, but Rad/Fire would be.

I'm guessing it's coming up in the next Proliferation, whenever that is. The only other choice available is Poison, anyway.

I would guess pain will not be ported since it is just the redside version of emp.

Although to me that arguement hardly holds water anymore since you can start off as a defender and be evil from the start if you wanted to. Im all for pain on blueside and emp on redside.

IMHO, emp is far superior to pain in ally buffing (self damage buffing being it's only upside). Fortitude and auras seem better than the debuff and AoE debuff in pain, can't think of the names right now. And AB's recharge makes it far better than PB's +damage in my opinion, because two people can stack AB perma on each other with just SOs, but pain can't because it doesn't boost recharge.

Honestly, I'd love to see Pain on Defenders. It'd actually give me a reason to do Pain. Haven't been able to get into it otherwise.

Speaking generally and not looking at specific powers, Pain's advantage over empathy is a much better level of personal survivability. Empathy is better at buffing allies.
