Quote:Applause.If I were a Dev
I'd dev in the morning
I'd dev in the evening
All over this world
I'd dev about heroes
I'd dev about villains
I'd dev about crits between my scrappers and my cruppers
I'd dev about my MMs and my fenders
all over our world
+1 Interwebz for you.
Actually, you inspired me...
(To the tune of "If I Only Had a Brain")
I would delve into backstory
Write stuff as allegory
Tell tales of heroes gone
I would threaten to break necks
If I saw one more FedEx
If I worked at Paragon...
I'd make cutscenes by the hour
Have Fusionette devoured
As she soloes Hamidon
The Battalion'd be invading
We would FINALLY have base raiding
If I worked at Paragon...
And then I'd have a yen
To give villains equal zones
I'd encourage mayhem, chaos, breaking bones
And blowing up PPD drones!
I'd revamp how we build bases
Make animated faces
Stories hither thither yon
Closely follow players' insistence
Be the bane of Matt's existence
If I worked at Paragon!

From what I understand, you play as yourselves, but the roles you take on are the roles of the 'characters'. (In the casino heist, one of you is the grifter, one is the tech, etc.)
I don't believe it's "you playing as an NPC", if I recall correctly from the actual Pummit (yes, I was there).

My first villain 50 was a Mastermind (bots/dark/GW patron) named Soulsteel.
My second villain 50 was also a Mastermind (mercs/TA/Sci patron) named Profiteer. (And let me tell you now, mercs/TA for a Mastermind can be downright BRUTAL. Not quite the force of nature that a necro/dark MM is, but holy crap...)

Some of my favorites:
On Justice -
Profiteer (mercs/TA MM, got it LONG before the Day Jobs/Accolades were released, bwahahaha)
Trouble Magnet
Psychic Hotline (fire/MM blaster)
Queen of Staves
Ace of Staves
Ante Up
Soulsteel (bots/dark MM, couldn't BELIEVE I got that)
Soulcatcher
Spell Checker
Kharmic Strike
Mender Anomaly
On Triumph -
Arc Mage
On Virtue -
al Askari
Rabid Spoo
On Liberty -
Distraction

During long, "remind us why we're doing this again" missions, if this are going smoothly enough to allow me to type, I've been known to start doing movie quotes to liven things up.
While running around the Shard doing one of the TFs, it's late, we're tired, and as we're making our laborious way through the Cascades, my character stops in midair, points, and bellows, "THE CLIFFS OF INSANITY! HURRY UP! MOVE THE THING!" Cue the rest of the TF livening up the remaining missions by adapting "Princess Bride" quotes to the TF...
On one Lady Grey TF, we decided to speak in NOTHING but movie quotes, replacing key words with "Rikti". I think we went something like 45 minutes until someone made one funny enough that we teamwiped from laughing and we had to stop.

Quote:And this is why I love Arcanaville. When it comes to wit, she is the rapier, I am the bludgeon. So to review. Within four hours of Paragon Studios announcing they are giving stuff away for free, we have:
1. At least one person claiming giving stuff away is a "cheesy gimmick."
2. An assertion that twenty-four hours is a poor definition of a day.
3. The inevitable reference to addiction and gambling that occurs when the dev team does something related to addiction and gambling, such as displacing air or absorbing gravitons.
4. A red name unable to tell time.
5. At least one accusation of desperation.
6. Some confusion over how many times "once" is.
7. A slap in the face.
8. Some discussion about what specific thing "almost anything" probably actually refers to.
As Primal Earth makes Praetorian Earth look like a bunch of kindergarten rejects, so does Actual Earth make Primal Earth look like a bunch of senior citizens feeding the pigeons in the park.

Quote:Mid-to-late October, please. So ... Zwillinger ... what date are you thinking of for the Fall 2012 Player Summit at the Dinah Hotel? I'm thinking October ...
Hubby, me, and friends are already booked for the last week of September in Las Vegas to celebrate our 10th anniversary, but we all very much want to attend the Fall Pummit as well.

Quote:Let me know what servitude I have to sell myself into to get that movie theatre added as a permanent place we can walk into (a la the Golden Giza). I will give backrubs to everyone working at PS, bake brownies for a month, whatever it takes.
Same thing goes for the Colosseum and the new Casino.

Have retweeted Kheldarn's post on Twitter to boost your bandwidth... I don't get paid for another week, but will throw what I can to you guys then.
In the meantime, are you taking donations like clothes, blankets, etc for Guardian House?

Doing the series without Richard Briggs and Andreas Katsulas just seems like... sacrilege.
But if JMS were willing to helm a new round of B5, I'd go with it. Just please please PLEASE get Christopher Franke to do the music again!

Quote:If this starts happening, I don't know who I'm going to defenestrate first:[Admin] Penelope Yin: Hi there Heroes and Villains!!! Starting with the launch of Issue 23, I'll be giving you all regular in-game updates about my life and all the exciting things I'm getting up to in the Freedom Phalanx!! How cool is that?!?
The devs for doing this, or you for giving them the idea.

Quote:It's doing that AGAIN?!For the second mission, you basically bust Longbow heads in an effort to find out what happened to Dr. Aeon. Apparently something happened with von Grun's experiment that caused Dr. Aeon and the DE to switch intelligence. There are also some "wanton acts of destruction" to do, but they're optional. This isn't revealed to you until you defeat the boss, though.
ARGH, I'd swear I'd fixed that like four times now! *grumble*
Still, glad you liked the arc, and kudos for catching the science behind the DE's mumblings!

Finally saw it today with hubby. Loved it loved it loved it.
Ironically, one of my fave scenes is Loki berating Black Widow... for some reason, of EVERYTHING he does in the entire film, THAT struck me as "villainous." Oh sure, as a demigod he can throw around PHENOMENAL COSMIC POWER, take over worlds, etc etc etc.
But to reach into a person's soul like that with nothing but your eyes, your voice, and an all-too-knowing understanding of the shadowy depths of the human psyche, and RIP OUT everything that they feel makes them a worthwhile human being...
Never mind it doesn't quite WORK as intended on BW, but it's the thought that counts...

PS - the shawarma scene... what I thought was the funniest part about it was Cap just staring at the table. I couldn't tell if he was trying to figure out the food, or if he was just so damn tired he was falling asleep in his chair. -
Quote:I adore the 7th Sea and L5R systems (and have run both myself). Have also played Champions/Hero System. (Which was really funny because our entire Champions group ended up playing COH en masse, so we formed our own SG.)This is why AEG had such a better d10 system. There were no botches, in 7th sea. Really I could go on for days about how the 7th sea system was better than WoD and AEG's own L5R system. Things like exploding dice (roll a 10 and roll it again, and sometimes again, till you stop rolling 10's), for every D10 you had in your dice pool over 10 was not rolled, but became an automatic success (a 10 that is).
AEG really had/has some great table top systems. We ended up converting the 7th sea system to several different themes. The last being a Weird West setting.
But one system I would almost be tempted to convert COH to?
Mutant Chronicles.
For some reason, I just REALLY liked the mechanics behind that game (the setting itself rocks, too - I've got a Brotherhood Revisor that is flatout FRIGHTENING), and wanted to see them implemented elsewhere. Between the initial advancement system and the general mechanics of the game, I think there's a lot of potential there.

On the one hand, I see this thread ending... poorly.
On the other hand... one of the arcs he's raving about is mine, and getting reviews and whatnot is usually good. (As long as they're at least moderately intelligent - "u suk" as a review doesn't really tell me much on how to improve it.)

Laura is almost directly due east of Positron. Graham is about 150 yds north of Detective Rogers on the map.
One major advantage of Graham's arc is all of the missions are within walking distance of each other.

1) is it my imagination or is there a pattern on the tshirt of the guy in front?
2) do the crab spiders' legs look different?
3) what IS that in the background?

Quote:Not trying to say that my ideas are better than theirs... it's just that the new forum headers aren't really my thing.Quote:For a HERO option, it'd be cool to just have the Freedom Corps logo, or maybe the Phalanx's, PPD, something. For the VILLAIN option, use Arachnos, Cage, or even the emblem of the Zig. For OTHER, maybe the Praetorian logos (Loyalist/Resistance), the Rogue/Vigilante symbols, something that doesn't take up the entire screen.
It avoids character favoritism, and would probably be a bit easier on the sizing.

Re: voting... sorry, add me to the "neither" camp. Both pictures have their merits, true, but when I think COH, that's not what I'd expect to see at the top of the screen.
