Highlight of the weekend for me was leading an 8-man PUG in Talos for mid-20 heroes doing radio missions. I think we were 5 blasters, a troller, a tank and a defender. Started out with me and two friends, then another friend joined, then we had four folks LFT so we invited them. Later one friend had to drop, so hubby joined in.
Much fun discussion about which faction to fight:
Me: "Let's see... we got-"
Teammate: "FREAKS!"
Me: "No, no Freaks this time around."
Teammate: "Drat."
Me: "We got Council... Tsoo... and something I can't tell by the name."
Other teammate: "What's the name?"
Me: "(I forgot what it was)"
Other other teammate: "Um... BP?"
Other other other teammate: "BP! MASKS!"
Team: "MASKS!"
Me: "Okay, we'll go fight BP."
(What do we end up fighting? Lost. As it turns out, that was the mission that the ENTIRE group ended up levelling TWICE by timing coincidence. After that, we made a point of taking Lost missions for luck.)
I think we ran for about three hours or so non-stop. Had an absolutely fantastic time.

Actually, the ad you're talking about (the heroes vs the Fifth Column bots) is also available as a poster. I have it hanging on the wall of my study.
Personally, though, the coolest ad I remember seeing for CoH was the one of Recluse beating the living crap out of Statesman (which I also have as a poster).
And I do think more ads - print or otherwise - would certainly not be amiss... there are certainly enough gaming related magazines on the market today (not to mention gaming websites) that a really well-designed ad could catch quite a bit of notice.

Having someone else help you find the worthwhile missions is a big help. The list of submissions is a help but not exactly compact for easy reference lol. Also doesn't preclude dreck.
And I agree, I'd like to see runner-ups next time around!

Character: Heroside, either my dark/psi def Andrea Blake, or my grav/kin troller Sorina Tavarisch. Since I'm a big anime fan, this would have to be anime (I could go with GONZO doing the animation - "Kiddy Grade," "Basilisk," "Samurai 7," and "Trinity Blood" looked sweet). Villainside? The MistWalker sisters, hands down.
Directors: Someone who can do dark emotion AND action. Not just "we're blowing up stuff." No, no, no. If John McTiernan could manage that same humorous-dark-action touch he had with the original DIE HARD film, I could go for that.
Music: E.S. Posthumus (and I liked them BEFORE they became well-known, thank you). With Poets of the Fall doing the theme song, and Within Temptation doing the end credits song.
Story: With Andrea, it'd be her origin story (the orphan who becomes a reluctant hero only after dying and returning to life)... with Sora, it'd be the Rikti War and her role in it. (Though doing THE COURSE OF SUPERHERO ROMANCE as a film is tempting.) The MistWalkers, it'd be their origin story (as pawns of Arachnos from Project: ERINYES, only to escape and wreak havoc in the Rogue Isles as they seek to bring down Arachnos for revenge).

That's what I have, Forbin, and from what I understand, no, it will not run Ultra Mode except MAYBE at minimal settings and not all the options enabled. I plan to upgrade.
Of course, if I get into the closed beta this week and I enable Ultra Mode and it WORKS...
... I still wouldn't be able to tell you.

I appreciate the rundown, je_saist, that actually answered a lot of questions for me!
To add a small bit of advice, for those of you who've had someone else build your rigs (I bought my current computer through IBuyPower), give them a call and ask if your current specs can handle the upgraded card. They had my specs on file and confirmed that a) my chassis could hold the card, b) my motherboard could hold the card, and c) my power supply was sufficient.
I'll be picking up the Radeon 5850 most likely (thank you, Universe, for generous players), not just for UltraMode, but because I'm sure my graphics on ANY game will look a hell of a lot better.

At HeroCon 2009, we had posters, pint glasses (with the hero and villain logos), pins, t-shirts (hero, villain, and 5th anniversary t-shirts), art collection books, and a couple other things.
Personally, I would love to see Paragon Studios go whole hog with a CafePress site if they can't get NCsoft to help out. Stuff for all the archetypes ("Good, bad, I'm the guy with the War Mace"), t-shirts for the task forces ("I survived the Quaterfield Hell Force"), the various factions ("Property of Crey Research Department"), and all that good stuff.
