This has been happening to me too.
I'm running XP Pro SP3 on a single core processor... and only noticed it after I installed a beta release for a firewall and really started keeping an eye on my system, but when I did I noticed that CoH now jumps up to 100% almost from the updater onwards.
It never use to.... I could have programs running in the background along with CoH, now I don't think I could.
Memory usage also seems to be an issue. -
Here's my suggestion....
Its for a Spine/Dark scrapper that I have on Test Server that I plan to level in readiness for Going Rogue. This will be her second outfit when I get to lvl 20.
I use all pieces except the boots and the mask... It probably would be more visible if I used the Mini-vest, but the Leather Jacket sort fitted better (Leather theme).... still might go with the mini-vest, I'm undecided.

Same here in Australia. Both spellings are acceptable... and then you have the mental somersaults you have to go through when your friends ask you about the weather and temperature (let alone timezones).

You know I have the exact opposite of this problem. My arc that I have published has been 5 starred and yet I know no-one's been though it completely. Why? A SG mate with one of those uber tank builds tried to storm his way through it on challenge level 3 by himself. He stopped midway through mission 5. I did warn him before that he was silly to do it above Heroic, as it states it was designed for teams. I did make a easier version though based on his feedback which I listened to on the SG channel while laughing at him... but again, same problem: I was 5 starred and then buried. And yes I can complete it on my lvl 50 non-uber scrapper solo on challenge level 1.
There are a lot of arcs out there that have 5 stars but only 1 or 2 people have played them. In my case no one other then myself has admitted to completing the easier version. And as the OP said, I put a lot of time and effort into them and then for the arc to get buried well... *shrugs*
I know the arc probably isn't really 5 star material. But I would like someone other then myself to have a look at it.
If anyone is interested: #64817 CMV - Team and the scale down #59913 CMV - Solo ... they are both pushing 100% usage so there isn't much wiggle room for adjustments, particularly if the current patch on test is any indication, but any feedback would be appreciated. -

The rikti mages were a nice complication. Is the Black and Grey Vanguard outfits cannon?

First of all, this has to be in the top ten thread ever.
I'm in the process of writing an arc about Kheldians and have a few questions that I would like cleared up if possible please.
- What's the history/bio of the Praetorian version of Sunstorm and Shadowstar?
- What's the name of the priestess that joined with the Shadowstar and the name of the Nictus half of Shadowstar?
- Where did the other Rikti invasions go (we know one was successfully repelled by the Praetorians) and how many were defeated or draws (like us currently)?
- Does the Praetorian world and the Rikti world have a version of Ouroboros? Do any other world have a version?
All my other questions for now have been asked by others. -
Actually when you look at the world and to the maths... (gasp, shock, horror) 11am - Noon USA EST is about the best time to do anything.
Why?
Most of the world is awake then... well most of the world that thinks it's important is awake.
Its just before lunch on the East Coast of America so those there can just pop on for a moment or two during the lunch break...
Its just before work starts on the West Coast of America so those there can just pop in before they start work or school.
Its just after the work day over in the UK so those just finishing work can relax and pop in and enjoy the festivities....
See? Most of the important world is awake.
What about me? Well, I live in Australia. It works out to be 1AM - 2AM Australian EST. As devote a fan I may be, the docs say I need to be asleep then. Besides, there never anyone important down here...so I'll be there in spirit. (As a side, could any credit (i.e. badges) for attendance be put to one of my characters, as for obvious reasons, I won't be able to attend.)

This is probably a silly question but will there be an offline tool or method to build missions? Since we are saving the missions that we are working on to our local hard disk is there any way we can work on them while we are not connected to the game?
Even if its limited to scripting, being able to do some of it offline away from the game, would be a QoL thing for me.
Since they say that a decent mission arc is to take a day or so to make, I'd like to split that up when I have a chance between gaming sessions... offline.

It's a little late, but I too have watched it, was blown away by it. (If only had a fraction of the talent you seem to posses, then my attempts would actually be something. )
You truly are superbly creative and your skill shines through in your work.
I've have passed on the link to your trailer to some other boards that I frequent, and other members of some global channels that I tune into in-game were likewise impressed by your video.

I was in the King's Row Wentworths when the call went out. Peregrine Island was under attack from Rikti Invaders. It was the call everyone had been dreading, but at the same time expecting for some time now. I cut my business with the representative short who nodded and wished me well and then dashed outside. Once clear of the building I activated my portal to Ouroboros, since time was of the essence. Even someone as fast as myself needs to take shortcuts now and then.
The Ouroboros portal left me in Peregrine Island, moments after I had left Kings Row. For the record, I still feel uncomfortable about twisting the timeline like that. Regardless when I got there PI was in chaos. Civilians were running everywhere. The air... I will never forget the smell of the air. Nor the sight of the sky. It wasn't the usual shade of green - the sky was dark, almost black, thick and heavy.
I ran towards the Portal Corp centre, for if the Rikti gain control of that, who knows how much damage they could cause. On the way I discovered several UABs which were easily dealt with following correct application of my blade. Once I reached the Portal grounds I remembered that there were reports that Rikti were threatening our cultural heritage. Being a speedster, it was easy to quickly travel the distance to Crimson to ensure the safety of the statue there. Along the way I noted that there were some Rikti rifling in one of the shops, but I was too intent on the statue to stop. I reached the statue and waited. And waited. Exchanging some small talk with Crimson helped, but he seemed to have the situation under control. Just as I was about to leave and return to assisting the efforts in the grounds of Portal Corp a Rikti drone appeared. It was quickly dealt with. It seemed sub-standard as if the Rikti are running low on parts.
Concluding that the area was secure for now, I returned to the Portal Corp grounds and joined my fellow heroes there defending the grounds against the invaders. It was a brief fight but the 4 or 5 of us was more then sufficient to defend the buildings.
Analysis of Current Situation:
It appears that the Rikti are becoming less energetic to engage in Peregrine Isle, or that word has filtered up the ranks that engaging in combat against certain heroes of Paragon City is just a bad idea. The forces we saw brought to bear against us at Portal Corp were pitiful. It was a token effort. I was as if they couldnt be bothered engaging us. They were only doing it for forms sake. Also it appears that the intelligence that they are after cultural items such as Statues and universities might have been flawed.
Proper and complete analysis of intelligence should be best left to the experts, not to the heroes in the field.
Suggestion Course of Action
Now is the time to strike at the heart of the Rikti. It appears we have them on the run. Again, this is best left to those further up the chain of command, but here it appears that they don't have the heart in the battle. One final push and we will be rid of them once and for all. Also suggest review of the intelligence that caused an alert on the statues being issues. -
Deep within their base, in her room sitting cross legged sat Jelidan. She was centering her mind after a recent run-in with Romulus. Her blade glowed softly in the candlelit room, as Jelidan seemed to phase in and out of visibly with each passing breath. Suddenly, she came into sharp focus as one particular voice from the many voices of her blade cut like a razor through her meditation.
"The Invaders are coming, and they are here."
Opening her eyes and rising from her kneel, she activated her comm,
"Raven, Silent. Priority Tasking. Drop what you're doing and return to base."
Cutting the comm and crossing to the small terminal, she activated it and waited. Minutes later there was an alert message, a call to arms, asking for volunteers to help fight the rikti. Once more she, and her fellow heroes, would answer the call. Once more they would defend this land she now called home. Once more they would test their skill, their might, their powers, and abilities, and heed the call to protect those unable to do so.
Maybe this time the Rikti would be pushed back once and for all.
After seeing the tasking involved Raven piped up: "Jel, you think it will spill over to the Rogue Isles? I know some honorable villains that could do with a heads up... I could also call on some other lower level heroes if they need more bodies."
Elsewhere at the same time as Jelidan was summoning her fellow heroes, the same alert flashed over the HUD of a new lesser Armored hero. She too would answer the call. As would many around her. If the Rikti think they can invade and take over her net, they have another thing coming.

We are to discuss problems and issues here? Ok here goes:
Virtue Sever. Zone: Talos Island.
From Noon to 4 pm Australian Eastern Standard time, (its 5:35PM when I'm posting this) we hunted Jack of Irons. 2 teams were knocking over Eochai with a sickening regularity. It got very frustrating very fast. But we persisted.
Not a single Jack spawn.
We all got the Ghost Touched badge, having started out with never having defeated any spirits, so that was ok. but still it was very annoying.
Now I am a veteran with multiple alts, and I can say for sure that this has left an unpleasant taste in my mouth. I suspect its a bug, but I doubt that I'll be Jack Hunting again this event. We should have gotten a Jack after all that time. There was even a zombie apocalypse at the end. But still no Jack. ToTing is fun, particularly on a team, but Jack hunting is a chore currently.
Could the chance of spawning him be changed just a little?
Maybe to 1 in 5 or maybe so that its not an exercise in futility? (aka hit pumpkin head a certain number of times and you are guaranteed a Jack, you just don't know were you are in the sequence)
Yes I have the logs to back this up.
I want my Jack!!
But as I said before, ToTing is fun.

And Zloth is correct! Changing the options in the game didn't stop the camera shake in the demo.
Currently I'm trying to experiment with layering multiple MACEHIT4 and MACEHIT5 fxs instead of MACEHITGRAND with slightly different timing... which sometimes gets me the sparks flying but not the 'starbursts' at the point of impact.
Ah... the joys of Demo making.

Great idea... tried to modify my opinions file to enable suppressing camera shake. Didn't work. But will try doing it in game....

I'm using Balshor's Demo editor and TweakCoH to produce and launch my demos and dump them to JPGs... and the particular demo I'm working on using the following FX that I need:

The problem: It causes the camera to shake. So even if I have to start using a command line to produce a dump of pictures... how do you stop the camera shaking? I'll be happy to use a similar FX, one that produces the similar -visual- output, that of starburst and sparks flying when a Bane mace hits an opponent.

Why do I need the camera still? Because I'm making composite shots and layering images and that FX happens during that sequence of images and it causes the camera to shake and re-focus and this shaking and re-focusing is by a random amount each time.
Any assistance would be very much appreciated.

I have an idea but not the time to do it due to a recent RL complication
- Starts off with the a toon typing in a laptop - camera circling.
- Camera cuts to leaked still image of the Mission Planner.
- Then quick cut to a black screen and then a map of a mission "falls" from the bottom to the centre... so that the camera lands inside the mission.
- Cut back to the laptop typing toon camera does another loop.
- Back to the mission, some appropriate mobs "fall" from the top of the screen in typical mob clusters in sight of the camera as it does a mini fly through of say a corridor.
- Back to the laptop toon, another circle...
- Cut to a Group of heros/Villains porting out via a terminal in the arena as if for a match.
- See the same group appear the the mission where the camera happens to be fighting the mobs.
- Cut back to Arena with most of the group doing thumbs up or holding up a varitey of score cards.
- and then finally the first laptop toon doing either a bow or the victory emote.
That was my idea you might be able to use it or improve it.

I got 4 slots total... and I started playing the game days after the 1 year anniversary badge was awarded. ((and boy was i mad when i found out -that- little detail)) so something funny is going on with the slots being awarded.
Anyway, I've tried repeatedly to purchase additional slots and each time I've gotten unable to verify, or payment service could not reply
There needs to be a status page for the transaction server or something..... -

I've been testing a DM/DA stalker, and so far have managed to get up to lvl 24.
I've taken SJ instead of the TP which I wanted to take but didn't due to the lagging that was happening at the time. Also at lvl 22 I took stamina, even though I found endurance wasn't really a problem if I did the hit and fade method of attack, however I've only had 3 toggles running: CJ, Hide, and Dark Embrace.
Being test server, i've ended up spend most of my time in teams comprised of Thug MMs with the odd electric brute thrown in, and haven't been able to do almost any PvP testing. I've found on teams that I survive more if the pets grab the aggro just before or just after I start to attack... if I'm with a MM how doesn't even summon their pets, or just stands around waiting for the pets to attack when on Bodyguard mode, more then 2 or 3 mobs can be a challenge.
I just took heal from the armor set (at lvl 24), and yes, it does break being Hidden if you use it, but if you use it when facing multiple mobs, just after the alpha strike, it is very nice - provided it hits that is.
However, what I really wanted to see with the Dark Armor is an inherent power whereby if you have sufficient armor/autos from the set, (like say 2 toggles and the auto, or three toggles), you are able to re-hide quicker after being hit or executing an attack. Particularly if DA is combined with DM. Sort-of like an inherent partial Cloak-of-Darkness. It would help make the set more attractive, and would be in keeping to the 'shadowy stalker of darkness' theme.
(Another issue I'm having is trying to see if the armor is working from a numbers point of view... i.e. just got hit by an attack that cost 42hp, how much of the original attack is my armor just absorb?)
