Looks like the US is going to be getting some EU RPers into these forums.

Hmm...let me just express the differences I've found between the US RP forums and the EU RP forums, just to give you a heads up.

The Galaxy Girl thread: Expect this to appear, Galaxy girl is the iconic EU (Union server) meeting point and as such has a LOT of history behind it (think of it as an offshoot of the old gemini park RP I hear you guys got upto).

RP thread length: The main difference I've noticed is that you guys prefer singular REALLY long threads for the RP. However the EU prefers the opposite, shorter RP threads which do the whole begin, middle and end style situation, they can go on for many pages but at most it's 20 pages long. However due to this there tends to be more open/semi-closed/closed RP threads.

Far more enclosed community: Due to the distinct lack of numbers on the EU servers, 95% of the RPers will know the other RPers, especially if they're on the same server, it's also a lot easier to become a 'big name villain/hero' in the EU crowd (Dr Mechano is considered mostly a Mad scientist prankster but also a high threat due to his sporadic if usually directly harmless (indirectly is a different matter) attacks against Paragon cit. His pinnacle achievement being the simultaneous attack against the 3 biggest RPVGs and the three biggest RPSGs and two major (player owned) corporations with harmless but eye catching pranks).

The Unionverse: Inspiration from the Virtueverse of course, the Union community has set up it's own version

I hope you welcome the EU RPers with open arms, we don't bite and we'll probably keep mostly to ourselves to be honest but the Europeans are coming!

Hey... bring on the Europeans. I love a good accent.

But of course. It's not like we bite. Well, at least I don't...much.

Pah that's only continental Europe...we Brits still use Miles, yards and feet (yards and feet my be too archaic and possibly not used in the states...not sure).

No, we use cubits and fathoms.

Oh no, no, no. The last country to give up Imperial measurements will be the US. We're so addicted to Miles, Feet, Yards, and the like that we're still fighting tooth and claw NOT to use metric.
There was a push in the mid 1970's to have the entire country using metrics by the end of that decade. It failed. Roughly every decade after that there is another push within the education system to have every student using metrics. So far, not much success.

Well that may be true for the US as a whole but not for me. I perversely use SI units in all my communication and avoid any mention of Imperial Units in casual conversation. I just love to have my fellow Usans scratching their heads!!

resistance is futile. You will be assimilated and your back-stories and role playing distinctiveness will be added to our own.

Hah, there's a good point there actually. Wonder what the RP boards will look like once things start to blend (As I doubt one 'style' is gonna end up totally dominating the other )

NightMarshal rides in motorbike, shouting over the noise of the cycle,

"The British are coming! The British are coming!"

and then rides out continuing to shout in a most distressing fashion.

Watching on, Victor just rolls his eyes unimpressed.

"And the French, and the Germans, and the Irish, and all the others," he remarks. "Finally some civilized company."

"And think of what they bring us!"
"Sauerkraut!"
"Heineken!"
"Champagne!"

"Let them come!"

Put it this way, as long as they don't try to force their opinions and styles on us then we wont do likewise to them and we'll all get along fine.

Oh wait, this is the internet..... *gulp*

I'm looking forward to seeing different writing styles, and the potential for RP hooligans.

I'm not looking forward to reading in metric, or u's in my colors. Or having to read aluminum as ah-loo-minnie-um.

I on the other hand am quite looking forward to both, since that's what we use here in New Zealand. If only to watch you all go through the same confusion I always go through trying to convert measurements.

Same here in Australia. Both spellings are acceptable... and then you have the mental somersaults you have to go through when your friends ask you about the weather and temperature (let alone timezones).

I'm looking forward to the new blood.

Yah- should be interesting, and I also (being Canadian) have no trouble with either 'u's turning up in places that Americans are unaccustomed to or metric measurements.

... although if anybody South of Norway complains about their winters, I'm going to laugh at them

Hey, I can complain all I like even though your winters suck more than ours. Doesn't mean ours suck any less.

Actually, yes it does mean exactly that.

We have winters here in Arizona too. It gets down to 60 sometimes!

I know what you're thinking. Yes it is amazing that people can survive such low temperatures.

I didn't say you weren't allowed to complain- just that I would laugh at you if you did
