Hmm...after seeing it, I could see how it can fit and still allow AvP & Predator 2 to be canon. Other than that bit at the beginning, was he on Earth or what? A sacrificial lamb to bring another species into existence?

Let's see if I can try to fit this into canon.

LV-233 was a weapons research outpost for the Engineers. Naturally, they'd want to isolate their work from the main body of their society. It's possible that each of those mounds was a different hot lab, working on different things.

The xenomorph we saw was the result of their research on a preexisting organism. Possibly to see if they could adapt and control the xenos. Maybe by including an automatic extinction switch that would shut 'em off when their work was done. The ship we saw on LV-426 in Alien was possibly a supply shuttle taking the eggs to one of their research facilities.

While the Engineers may have created humanity, the Predators took advantage of a perfect species to use as a host for the 'natural' xenomorphs. The Engineers didn't like their creation being used for such and had a, "Those are OUR toys! If we can't play with them, no one can!" mentality and decided to wipe out humans, which kinda sorta fits with the images presented in AvP.

Probably a lot of holes in the theory, but the idea that it tosses out established canon isn't necessarily completely true.

Four miles? That's nothing. Heck, I have to drive 3 miles just to hit a paved road!
  3. If you think about it, Merle coming back actually makes sense for what's in store for Rick (if that happens and it plays out like I think it will). It makes a lot more sense for the revenge angle rather than the Governor just randomly chopping him up to prove a point.

Yesterday I called the nearest comic shop I could find (40 minute drive away) and asked for info. They said that Lewiston just doesn't really have a comic shop. Said that there are folks that drive up to get their books.

Anyway, I appreciate the input. decisions, decisions.
Something you might consider for some comics...

    The supermarket.

Yes, I know. However, that is still how I get a good number of comics that I read. It's not very many and they kinda jump around on what titles are available at any given time, but I still managed a full run of the Buffy Season 8 and what's been done for Season 9, out of them.

I would almost suggest get what you can from them and then make monthly runs to the other place to pick up what you couldn't get at the supermarket (provided the sm actually stocks any). Also, you might check your local bookstore to see if they have any.

    Fanboys...very dangerous. You go first.

Ya, I put in my zip code in it and got something in Winnipeg and Fort Wayne. Both of which show a distance of 0 miles...

Well...I suppose that can be technically true if you're folding space, but then you get into the whole Warp thing and daemonettes and soul-eating. I mean sure, there's a price to pay for getting comics, but that might be a bit steep.
  7. Not unexpected.

Though there's a chance that I'll be unable to watch Season 3 as it happens.

This was not a good week...

Except its not just AvP movies. It's also the Predators in Predator 2. They have a xeno skull in their trophy room. Now granted, that doesn't mean they bred them on Earth and had their hunts for 'em here, but it does mean they are familiar with the species.

Ok, I haven't seen the movie yet, but in regards to the xenomorphs/Engineers/Predators...

Is it possible that the xenos existed, the Predators used them, but the Engineers were tinkering with an offshoot/subspecies of them? And this goo/different facehugger results/etc being mentioned, could that be the result of said tinkering?

Like say, the xenos were an indigi species somewhere and both races ended up using them for various things? That could explain the xeno bas relief on the wall.

Something else...what if the Engineers weren't actually creating species from scratch, but were acting more along the lines of the various races from David Brin's Uplift series? Modifying/improving/making catgirls with what was already there?

Well, road-brigands need someone with stuff to brigand off of, otherwise, it's just a bunch of leather, chain, and skull clad guys driving around. And that's really a...different...sort of scenario.

The cannibal mutant zombies also need a well-fed populace to cannibal on.

Well...'end of the world' could be interpreted to be 'end of the life that we know'. Stocking up on canned goods/fuel/ammo could stave off the inevitable hordes of road-brigands, cannibal mutant zombies, and the radroaches for a little while at least.

    Summer Reading

I finally managed to get all my books shelved. That means I can start at the beginning and read through 'em all (sorted by groupings of major universes and then by author's last name). Starting at my Dark Sun books and going from there.

I figure it'll only take me about a decade to read 'em all. >.<
  14. I was using a welder's mask and could make out Venus transiting. It was pretty neat. Just a tiny little dot on the sun, but still.

    Dunno. Haven't played it.

I want the work that goes into getting +4 and up to actually count for something other running another *yawn* trial. Sure, you get the powers, but there's not much of a feeling of getting stronger. I'd like to be able to run one of the Portal Corp arcs with AVs in it and have that sense of strength that was displayed in the Alpha arc.

What would be neat is if the always-purple code for GMs and Invasions exempted Incarnates. Meaning that say, Babbage, Lusca or Adamastor would be at max level 50. Meaning they'd eventually turn red or yellow con. It only makes sense that such creatures wouldn't be able to keep up being as powerful as an Incarnate.
  16. Triple digits at least. I'd venture a guess as to probably around $150.
  17. Something else to be on the watch for.

Today's the last chance for the next century to see Venus cross the sun.

I don't believe they said more Incarnate-power types (Omega/Alpha/Hybrid/etc), but rather more slots for Incarnate stuff with possibly more stuff to build within those slots. Could be completely mistaken of course.

What would make me happy is if the Incarnate level shifts would apply outside of the trials. You go through that work to get all the crap for building the Tier 3s and 4s, but the level shifts only apply within the iTrials (except Alpha/the first +1). I want to have the power that was shown within the Alpha arc where the AVs were as puny as Bosses. It's kinda pointless to just treadmill to be able to do more iTrials, rather than the game at large.

  20. I just saw that Fred Savage, the kid from the Wonder Years, directed 19 episodes of It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia. Amazing. He also VA'd on Kim Possible and was Hawk in Justice League.

Every time that is said, the level of gun-ness goes up a notch (with all previous tiers included).

    For example:

    Standard sidearms and semi-autos->Phrase->Full autos + Desert Eagles + Ferret Launchers->Phrase->RPGs + Flamers + .50cals + Badgers on Sticks->Phrase->Rail Guns->Phrase->Mini Nukes->Phrase->Cyclonic Torpedos + Orbital Bombardment

If they say it more than five times, well...that's gonna be a lot of hardware.

There's not whole lot of special effects that can cover up someone splatting onto the ground or getting impaled in a spike pit in a live scenario. The gunfire and electrocution? Ya, that could be played at sfx.

Death sentence for jaywalking. Overkill...but effective. You'd think there'd be no crime whatsoever in that country.

It kinda reminds me of the Simpsons Treehouse of Horror episode where Skinner and the rest of the teachers turn into cannibals with the students.
