Comic Book shops in Lewiston Idaho

Are there any there?

There is an opportunity for me and my family to move to Lewiston Idaho. We are currently debating it.

Is anyone from there? Has been there? Or has any info?

I know this is a long shot... But, well, I trust this community. I would love to hear thoughts if anyone has info.

I've been googling and can't seem to find a comic book shop. Or a Nerd (I say with affection) community of any type there.

Thanks

I live down near Boise, so I can't speak much for what is upstate. Safari Pearl Comics is in Moscow, which is as close to Lewiston as I can find. If you're ever down in Boise, look up the Boise Comic Book Company, which is where I did all my shopping when I still collected comics.

Thank you for the response. I found Safari Pearl Comics, and then did a quick google maps directions and it said that was a 40 minute drive. Not terrible... but not great.
I wonder if I move out there if I'll have to give up all my offline Nerd hobbies (Wargames, RPGs, and such).

Wow... I have to wonder if just one response means that moving out there I would double the number of Idaho CoH subscribers.

At the very least it would double the number of Idahoans who post on the CoH forums.

Goodbye, I guess.

For future reference, Diamond Comics Distributors offers a service called Comics Shop Locator that can help you, well, locate comics shops.

I used that before I posted. Closest store that shows is in Indiana (and one in Canada). I figure there must be a few closer. But thank you for posting that.

As I am moving to California next month, that number may soon drop to zero.

Well, I can pretty much tell you that that is wrong. See here in Denver we have Mile-Hi Comics (which has multiple locations) and at least two other comics farily near me on the west side of the area. And we're much closer than Indiana.

Ya, I put in my zip code in it and got something in Winnipeg and Fort Wayne. Both of which show a distance of 0 miles...

Well...I suppose that can be technically true if you're folding space, but then you get into the whole Warp thing and daemonettes and soul-eating. I mean sure, there's a price to pay for getting comics, but that might be a bit steep.

Yah, before I started the thread I tried to use that. It seems kind of worthless to be honest. I did check it here in Baltimore where I am (and Diamond Comics is) and it worked great.

I did all the googling I could before posting here.

Yesterday I called the nearest comic shop I could find (40 minute drive away) and asked for info. They said that Lewiston just doesn't really have a comic shop. Said that there are folks that drive up to get their books.

Anyway, I appreciate the input. decisions, decisions.

Something you might consider for some comics...

The supermarket.

Yes, I know. However, that is still how I get a good number of comics that I read. It's not very many and they kinda jump around on what titles are available at any given time, but I still managed a full run of the Buffy Season 8 and what's been done for Season 9, out of them.

I would almost suggest get what you can from them and then make monthly runs to the other place to pick up what you couldn't get at the supermarket (provided the sm actually stocks any). Also, you might check your local bookstore to see if they have any.

The closest thing I can find for you is Safari Pearl Comics in Moscow, which is about 75 miles north of Lewiston on Highway 95. And then Lightning Comics north of Lewiston (also along Highway 95) 116 miles north of Lewiston.

Although there is a Hastings in Lewiston, and another store called "And Books Too" which may be a possibility. But even looking up book stores in several online yellow pages for Lewiston only yeilds six total stores - two of which are college book stores, two are christian book stores, and the last two are the aforementioned Hasings and And Books Too.

The scary thing for a nerd is that Lewiston is a city of 31,000. Which I would think would mean that there would be more book stores. The only good thing, from a nerd perspective, is that Lewiston is a college town, which should mean that there should be some sort of nerd 'underground' (for want of a better term).

The US sure is big!

I consider the 4 mile trip into Croydon a bit of a drag...

I really should do something about this signature.

Four miles? That's nothing. Heck, I have to drive 3 miles just to hit a paved road!
