Super Reflexes is a great set, but it's like joining a fraternity. It'll haze you real good when you're a pledge, just to test your commitment. If you stick with it, you become one of the brothers and enjoy the frat house's 52 inch LDC, 'fridge always stocked with beer and free stripper night. Tough early game, fantastic late game.

Also, judging any powerset negatively at level 10 is a bit harsh. Even Willpower and Invulnerability can feel weak in the single-digits.

You'll be breezing through missions set for 8 in the late game, if you stick with it.

Super Reflexes' scaling resists go very well with the -Damage of Kinetic Melee. A softcapped KM/SR Brute is going to be one of the most survivable Brutes you can roll.

Um, Ima let a math person field this one.

I will say this: I think Alignment Merits will continue to suppress prices on the most expensive items, ultimately bringing them all down to 2B or less. It's already happened to the 3% Resist PvP IO. 3% Def PvP IO is the next one to watch. Will my prediction come true? Um, I hope so?

It's funny. I was a hardcore crafter in a previously-played-Star-Wars-themed MMO, but I find the crafting in this game so tedious I'm more than happy to pay people like you to do it for me. I'd never have the patience you have for crafting this stuff, but I'm glad you do!

You, sir, are a stud. I'm looking forward to seeing how this works out.
I have every expectation of getting the occasional burn by low-ballers, but even though I do have a burning hatred of the market, I trust in the Goat and know that truly valuable stuff will go for what it's worth.

And now, on to today's roll!

    ROLL THE SECOND:
Luck of the Gambler: +7.5% Recharge Speed (50 Recipe). 90,000,005
    Numina's Convalescence: End/Heal/Rech (50 Recipe). 4,950,906
    Dark Watcher's Despair: Recharge/Endurance Reduction (Recipe). V9,995
    Devastation: Acc/Dam/Rech (50 Recipe). 2,300,414
    Expedient Reinforcement: End/Dam/Rech (50 Recipe). 900,007

    THIS ROLL: 98,161,327
    2 ROLL TOTAL: 184,280,822
    2 ROLL AVERAGE: 92,140,411

COMMENTARY: Oh, what a lucky boy am I! Only one piece of junk, 3 marginals and a good recipe. The Expedient Reinforcement had me worried as there were no bids out for it, but I trusted in the Goat and put it up for 1 and it sold while I did the math for this post for about a million. Listed for 1, got 1 million, with zero competition. Think about that.

SIDE NOTE: Today I also sold 4 Resurgence (large Heal) Inspirations for a gross total of 2.3 million. Done purely for entertainment purposes. Large Inspirations are the equivalent of a decent recipe drop. I think I'll sell rather than use for the most part from now on.
  6. The CoH Collector's Edition can be had for the low-low price of $99 on Amazon. In other words, it's for all intents and purposes unavailable.

It might work if you were limited to emailing it to yourself, so you can claim the shards on any of your alts, but you can't off-market sell it to anyone else.
  8. It's always irked me the Responsibility Loyalist storyline had you killing people. Of all the factions in Praetoria, the Responsibles should have been the ones to arrest instead of kill.

As for Cole, the last hope of Loyalists would be if this isn't the real Cole, but a Well puppet. The opportunity to bring the real Cole, not the Tyrant Well puppet, back would help justify the entire Loyalist side of things.
  9. Speaking as a soloist, I find Hand Clap to be a situational, but slot-light, handy, and thematically fun power to have. I have been saved by it many, many times. It provides mitigation, excellent mitigation, against critters that use damage types you are weak to. It is the perfect tool for covering the Rage crash (though if I were running a main Tank I think twice bout even running Rage-- but on a fast attack Tank, Rage early and often).

The two ways it provides that mitigation are stuns and knockbacks. The stun is a guranteed mag 2, plus a 50% chance of an additional mag 1 to stun Lieutenants. So you're stunning all the minions and half the Lieutenants. And the stun is a long one. 9.5 seconds base, so you can get it to 15 seconds or more with slotting. I usually put 2 Stun common IOs, or 1 stun and 1 Chance for Recharge proc depending on my build goals. Hand Clap with stun boosts from Incarnate enhancements borders on ridiculously good.

In addition to that, anything that wasn't stunned gets knocked back. The only thing it won't be doing that to is Elite Bosses/Archvillains.

And with a recharge of 30 seconds, with slotting you could be clapping every 15 seconds if you wanted to. With additional recharge bonuses, even more often. *note to self: really must try that lol*

And it's a PBAOE Taunt, too.

In summary, yes, Hand Clap is skippable and situational, but it is far better than most realize and provides superb mitigation, especially against critters that otherwise have your number. Examine your play style and reconsider if Hand Clap just might have a place in your build. Or leave it out, it's your 15. Me? I'll be Hand Clapping and grinning every time I do.
  10. Do you hate the market? Sure, we all do! So let's roll some Alignment Merits in the level 35-39 range and sell all the recipes for 1.

To be "worth it" I need to get 67-68 million inf per roll on average. No set time frame, just until I don't feel like it anymore or get bored, or both. One roll a day unless I feel like doing more. Given prices are net. "V" indicates a vendored recipe.

    ROLL THE FIRST:
    Devastation: Dam/Rech (50 Recipe). V9,995
    Numina's Convalescence: Heal/Rech (50 Recipe). 36,000,005
Glimpse of the Abyss: Chance for Psionic Damage (50 Recipe). V9,995
    Decimation: Acc/End/Rech (40 Recipe). 522,995
    Obliteration: Acc/Dam/Rech/End (50 Recipe). 49,576,505

    THIS ROLL: 86,119,495
    AVERAGE OF 1 ROLL: 86,119,495

COMMENTARY: 2 pieces of junk, a marginal recipe and two good ones. Above the target by 20ish million. Pretty good!

    The new merits

Alignment Merits > Reward Merits. You won't be buying purples and PvPIOs with Reward Merits. And they are not more work than Reward Merits.

Alignment Merits are one of the best additions to the game ever.
  12. They are all worth getting, as the bonuses they give are universally useful. Even the lowest-HP Archetypes will see a boost in survivability* and reduction in Endurance issues. I consider the Panacea +HP proc to be the most optional given its price, but inf being no object there's no reason not to include it unless you're going for additional +HP set bonuses.

*see Arcanaville's discussions on Health/Regen and its impact on survivability
  13. I agree PDF is better than formats that try to simulate a paper comic. PDFs are easier to read, much easier. And Chrome's native PDF handling makes it even better (LOVE that feature!).

P.S. Darn forum has anti-capping feature. Grrr!
  15. No these are not going for 2 billion. I picked one up yesterday for 1.95 billion for a level 50 crafted. The sale went through right away, so I could have paid even less than that.

Alignment Merits are working their magic. I'm eyeing the PvP 3% Def global as a true indicator that the off-market has been put down once and for all. Right now, IIRC, that one is still a solid 2 billion on market (3% Defense is more useful than 3% Resist to most builds...to a softcapped Super Reflexes character, the 3% Resist is actually the more useful of the two as it mitigates SR's Achilles' heel: low-roll burst damage.)

Since these are globals, there's very little reason to pick them up at a level lower than 50, other than to twink a lowbie.

You can see from the discussion above that Mids would benefit from having an option to count the average effect of this proc as regen, because I had to do it by hand to see if it was worth slotting, and what is the planner for if not doing things like that for you? It'd be a simple matter of a checkbox option that would do the above math for you. There's really no downside.
  17. It would be kinda funny seeing my Martial Arts Scrapper catch enemies on fire by dragging his heel on the ground during Dragon's Tail like a match lol. But yeah, very much against his concept so if effects like that get applied, I'd hope they'd be optional. It would be kinda funny, though.

Speaking of Fiery Aura, Blazing Aura always made my eyes hurt. But when I chose Dark Flames and colored it grey and black, it now looks like smoke puffing out of my character and doesn't hurt my eyes, either!

I tried an ElM/SD Brute, and found the single target damage too lacking. Single hard targets like EB Silver Mantis were just too much, and that is the only Brute I've ever had that problem on. Maybe I should give it a second go, but I'd just hate to put hours into a character that crashed and burned on Silver Mantis again.

I guess I like sets somewhere in the middle. Not entirely single-target, but not entirely AOE, either. I do like Stone. The sights and sounds of that set are amazingly fun. I just wish it had a Footstomp equivalent, or even a Dragon's Tail equivalent.

Oh heck, I think I'll just go ahead and try SM/DA. I want a Brute of every primary and every secondary, so why not.
  22. If you get a copy of Mids Hero Designer here, and look at the popup for the Panacea +HP proc, you'll see there detailed the numbers you need to figure out how much equivalent regeneration it gives as well as Endurance.

You'll see the proc gives a 20% chance for +7.5% Endurance every 10 seconds if slotted into a passive power.
  23. Ah, so Mids considers it a Heal, therefore doesn't track it. It would be useful, if in the future, they added a check box option to include effects like these (it's a Heal, but it can be considered for all practical purposes, Regeneration as well). I mean, what am I supposed to do? Use my brain?

The "burstiness" of the proc doesn't bother me. Especially since it brings extra Endurance to the party as well. At times it'll do little for me, but it'll make up for that by doing more than expected for me at times (a roughly equal number of times) as well. Overall, I'm looking for the average effect, and I'm glad I'm right about what its average effects are.

Expense isn't an issue. Plenty of Inf, and I already own the proc, so that's no problem. I'll have to pull it out of my weapons build and put it into my body build, but I've been loving my body build so I want it as my primary build for the time being.

BTW, this is on a MA/SR Scrapper. With Super Reflexes, a little Regen goes a long way.

Thanks for the info, I appreciate it!
  24. I'm trying to figure out whether the Panacea +HP proc is worth including in my build from a regeneration perspective.

It gives a 20% chance for +64.58 HP every 10 seconds (slotted in Health). So it's average effect is approximately 1.29 HP/sec regeneration?

In the procless version of the build, I'm getting 25.82 HP/sec regen. With the proc, 25.35 + 1.29 (it looks like Mids doesn't include the average effect of the proc in its numbers) = 26.64.

Not a numbers person, so wondering if I got this right?
  25. Dark Armor is Fiery Aura's big sister. I've been thinking about rolling a Stone/DA myself, but Stone is so very single target and I like large spawn sizes so I'm not sure. Also, even though I like DA on paper, I seem to abandon every DA character I roll.

I am looking for an excuse to use the Omega costume pieces, though (those things are hard to fit into most costumes). Seeing the Omega character wearing a santa hat in the winter event video made me extra-curious to try it out.
