Quote:Lots of things are fundamentally flawed, I've mentioned a few earlier that should probably be given consideration above Villain PPP's for Heroes./Signed. I like the Patron Powers, but I absolutely hate the tip missions and really hate Redside. I don't give a crap about XP, or even necessarily population, I just hate being a villain, really hate the tip missions for becoming a villain (good god, vigs are worse than villains), and hate that villains get something better for free that heroes have to spend more than a week getting... by becoming villains. It's fundamentally flawed, and needs to be fixed.
Also the PPP's are far from free. -
Quote:Hence the sometimes, for the school uniform Sakura I definitely agree with you name and look aren't enough, but make her a self trained martial artist and we're there.Except well...
Sakura is a real name.
Sakura is a real name, and at least one of those Sakura's you mentioned wears a sailor uniform, aka a school uniform.
That would be like trying to copyright a character called Jim, who wears slacks and a t-shirt or any other combo of clothes that real people wear.
For you to copy wright something like a character, it has to be the combination of look, name and backstory.
I mean there was a short, hairy canadian wrestler who for some time was labeld the Wolverine in his career. But since he didn't have the name James Howlett and didn't wear yellow, black and blue spandex....
the Natural/Magic Sakura happens to be a ninja. She has a very distinctive look so in this case name and look would probably be enough.
It all really depends on the specific involved which is why these are always done case by case. -

Quote:Well after reading that sentence I immediately thought of 3 Sakuras that are copyrighted. One for Magic, one for Natural and one that's a mix of Natural/Magic of course the three I'm thinking off are specific but the natural one is somewhat generic as well.truthfully with those names, I'd think you should beable to use them. But then, Im sure there would be plenty of people using those names and making exact duplicates.
But what was the copyrighted name of this person?
Of course, the devs go overboard on this, as I recall people getting genericed just for using the name Sakura. -
It could be any of those reasons, or all of them. I don't think there is any definite reason other than some people just want to be the hero.
For reference I do play both sides, though I haven't made a new villain in awhile. But I've always had more Villains than Heroes.
I don't doubt if everything were equal Redside would still have a lower population, but I do think if things were more equal Redside would be less abandoned. -
Quote:Very True.
I did not mean my comment to imply that I resent being a freebie. I only resent those individuals who resent me being a freebie!
So question, obviously you can't switch your character to Red for the Patrons, but have you considered creating a character on the Redside? Since all the AT's are available to either side it seems like a good way to get the Defender with a Defense shield you want.
Or are there specific reasons you don't want to play redside? -
Quote:True enough and I do mention Playerbase Bias, however that is only 1 of the points. the other 3 are very real and very significant imbalances. There being more players blueside is not an unfairness to redside. At least not a game play one. That's a matter of people's preferences.
As to why people prefer blueside there are many reasons one of the most common ones is that they want to play a hero. Which is fine, go be a hero and do those heroic deeds.
Another common one is that people don't like/are sick of how the zones look.
I've heard many people complain about the lack of SFs. Heck I myself rant every time the WST is announced and we get Ice Mistral x2.Some people have complained about the lack of rewards though AMerits has largely reduced this.
These complaints are fixable but the Devs don't seem to have a response for them. The only comment remotely addressing red side problems is the one about Heroside having more players so more focus is going to go there. Which makes good business sense but is also a horrible Catch 22. -
Quote:
I am actually not asking for PPP to be made available blueside...I am simply asking that Hero Defenders/Corruptors have an equal choice in that they are given a Def based shield in the APP ( I don't care if it's even Ice - which is horrendous looking imo).
Which is perfectly fine with me and i have no arguments against that. In fact I almost always agree with suggestions to expand the available APP's.

But to reiterate my response to Toast, Expansing the available APP's is a great thing to push for. Getting some kind of Hero/NPC Patrons is something I can support. Simply making PPP's available to Heroes is flat out wrong. -
Quote:That seems like a good way to improve snipes. To help snipes, you could always take a page from Water Blast's Jet Stream...
Let the snipe be slow and interruptible when you cast it first. If it goes off and connects, it grants you a short term temp power (I dunno, lasts 8 seconds) that calls a faster casting snipe animation. The slower snipe also has a 75% chance of recharging itself instantly while the faster snipe has a 30% chance of recharging itself instantly.
The result? Slow charge followed by *HIT!* *pop* Snipe is recharged quick snipe hit *HIT!* there might be a chance you can pull that off again for 3 strong strikes in a row or even 4 but that lower % chance (or a miss) will eventually kill that streak.
The cost? Snipes are still pretty costly and you have to manage the hit in the first place. Chance is still a factor.
Me personally, I just love the look of some of the snipes and the prospect of a volley of Proton Volleys or a barrage of Blazing Bolts sounds like it'd be awfully mean and painful. -

While I liek the idea of more pools, I don't think any of the NPC groups have powers that are so unique it wouldn't be plausible in a generic Epic Pool. Except maybe Carnies and their masks. But for the most part all of the NPC groups have powers that would work generically.

To everyone going on and on about how it's uneven/unfair that Villains don't have to do tips for PPP's, guess what there are other uneven/unfair things affecting Villains.
First off leveling is harder Villain side there are way more people playing Heroside. Less people means less teams. Less teams works out to less experience.
Secondly a significant portion of the Villain side content is mechanically harder than blueside across comparable levels.
Thirdly Blueside has more content options available across levels than redside. This is reflected in zones and Task forces (discounting non story hazard zones,co-op zones and Ouro TF/SF)
Fourth there is huge Reward merit imbalance between the two sides since blueside gets more reward merits for comparable amounts of time.
because of the player bases general bias towards Blue side, the Blue side already has significant advantages over the redside. So don't give me any of the unfair/uneven nonsense because it is extremely disingenuous to do so. -
Quote:Yes, yes there was.Wait wasn't there that one movie where Superman posed as Batman so no one got suspicious when Bruce Wayne had been kidnapped (I *think* by Brainiac)?
It was somewhat lolsy seeing certain Batman villains going against Superman.
Although for someone called Brainiac he didn't do his research on Bruce. Everyone was tipped off that something was wrong cause in a video message Bruce was smiling.
As for the topic at hand
It would be nice having some sort of account wide bank.
However something i would want to see done first is having the crafting table look up what you have in storage. Another MMO I play has this and it's a great feature that makes crafting better. -
I think they fixed that in a more recent patch, so Fireball should be using the 50% Crit like it's supposed to.
As for the snipes, they are not worth taking.
the animation takes forever (8 sec) and the damage is severely lacking.
The Snipes use the Stalkers Ranged damage mod (which is .5 or .6) so the snipes end up doing 75 damage, 150 with crit at the base. Not worth the power slot -
I would change Murder of Crows to function more like Tornado/Waterspout rather than as a rain power. This is a flock of angry birds they are highly mobile and the power should reflect that.
Flurry of Feathers might function better as a confuse rather than a placate.
I like this idea and would love to see it as an actual set.
Would also like to see the same concept applied to an Assault set. -
Quote:I wondered about that too. Does that mean parts of the Rogue Isles are under U.S. jurisdiction (and is that reflected in some of the CoV zones?), or does the main island being outside it place the rest of the archipelago outside it too? Maybe they should've been put a little further out to sea, just to be safe.
I would say that might be the case with Nerva
but according to the map something like that isn't possible cause Nerva is actually placed furthest from the US Coast -
Nice post,
as far as this case goes though Venture's reply would have been the same to anyone regardless of how long they've been here.
Can we get back to the facts as presented in game regardless of how good they are now?
So NE of Bermuda. about 50 miles long, parts of it filter into the US coast line, the others belong to Recluse. -
Quote:NO TO PRAETORIA, absolutely not and you should recieve a mild static shock through the internet for suggesting more Praetorian BULL!!!!!!They could even do a Praetorian "going undercover" style mission format, where you'd make choices during missions that would be either Vigilante or Rogue choices, and culminating in an alignment story mission where you'd cement your alignment on one side or the other, and which would affect your contacts and mission choices.
I'd especially like it if it fleshed out Hero Corps more (an organization well suited to the "shades of grey" style of play), as well as putting a "good" face on the Crey Corporation- they can't be entirely evil, can they?
Hero Corps I agree with.
Undercover style missions are fine
Praetoria is a hell no, not even after the place freezes over. -
Quote:Which ball would that be? The one with the splinter group that Vanguard was actually systematically taking apart until Longbow showed up and escalated the fight to a point that would have been avoided completely if they didn't interfere.Longbow arrived to pick up the pieces after Vanguard dropped the ball. If anything we, the heroes, were less than heroic in that arc.
That wouldn't be that Ball would it?
The way I see it yes Vanguard dropped the ball, then when they tried to pick it up Longbow came and kicked it into a minefield. Good Job Longbow make a bad situation worse.
I played through RWZ on one of my Villains, now he doesn't kill indiscriminately, but after Longbow came in made everything worse and caused the death of one of the best NPCs I've seen in the game, the body count became significantly higher. -
I actually started Laura's arc last night. While I agree it's a great arc I kind of guessed the twist almost immediately.
Although since a certain NPC got stuck on geometry twice during the arc, once requiring a GM to intervene, that kind of cemented it for me. -
Agreed, except for Sefu. Sefu is alright and I could certainly picture my Villains grabbing some drinks with him in neutral areas.
-
I have to agree that KR can use some changes, but I also agree with Sam that the tone of KR shouldn't be changed.
I'd also like to add an additional suggestion, that whatever changes get made if a zone isn't turned CO-OP( which KR SHOULDN'T be) that Villains get a new SF dealing with/interacting/causing some of those changes. -
Quote:I'd kill for Arachnos cape. At least make it an unlock for defeating a certain number of Arachnos Bosses?
This can't be done as the cape in question was a paid extra. The Dev's have adopted the stance that any items people paid extra for will not be given away for free. This is something I agree with, but it doesn't stop them selling the stuff to others.
