Quote:That's why you *always* team with a Gravity/Bubble Controller! You shouldn't be able to throw things at high speed underwater, not without causing some serious shockwaves. You shouldn't be able to have fire be as effective in water as it is in air. Electricity shouldn't work the same way, as water is a conductive medium. For one, it should be more effective. For another, it ought to shock YOU, too. Ice powers would be pretty funky and lasers may well not work at all. And, again, how in blue blazes do you picture STORM SUMMONING working underwater, and with the same effects, no less?
Unless you are Ice anything, then you become a god.
Also, I agree, Dead Space did space right.
Now, as for underwater, as cool as it might be, I'm going to have to side with Samuel Tow on this one. Not only would a number of powers break immersion (Rain of Fire, Thunderstorm, Caltrops), many Targeted Location powers would always be cast at maximum range, unless you are targeting a targetable terrain object (look at how Teleport works when a mile up and no buildings are around). Getting underwater to look and feel right would be a feat in and of itself, and then you have to deal with the powers.
However, if CoX added an underwater zone that felt wrong and did not take powers into consideration, I would accept it. I would avoid it, but I would accept it. -
A Storm Palace Respec you say?
This alone is sign worthy and could possibly be the best player concieved idea since the inception of the game. However, added with the ability to save/load specs with enhancements pre-slotted would be too awesome for most of the player base. As much as it pains me to say it, you may have to drop the respec part and just stick to the save/load function, if only for the fact that many players don't even know about the Storm Palace.
As for the server merge, *Insert Memphis Bill's "Standard Code Rant"*.
But, yeah, a save/load function on respecs would be pretty nice. -
I wholeheartedly agree. I have a ton of ice/cold themed characters, and each one gets a little more difficult to come up with a name. However, I do not like the idea of vets, self included, getting priority on names in any way, form or fashion. First come, first serve. Just get a little creative. And this is coming from someone who has timed out on the 'Enter your name' screen, numerous times.

Ice Melee:
Frozen Fists
Ice Sword
Frost
Winter's Wrath (+20% To Hit, +80% Damage, +25% Fury, 10 sec Duration)
Freezing Touch
Taunt
Ice Sword Circle
Greater Ice Sword
Frozen Aura
Added the +25% Fury to Winter's Wrath to counter the slight loss Fury build up over time due to the inherent Slows in Ice Melee. Also added Ice Sword Circle and removed Ice Patch since the Brute is all about SMASH!
Ice Armor:
Frozen Armor
Hoarfrost
Diamond Dust (Self Stealth (supressable), +3.75% Def All (unenhanceable), 10% chance Mag3, 3.725 sec Confuse (unenhanceable), 10% chance Mag3, 3.725 sec Afraid (unenhanceable)
Wet Ice
Permafrost
Icicles
Glacial Armor
Energy Absorption
Hibernate
Replaced Chilling Embrace with a different kind of PBAoE Aura that would hopefully grant a similar amount of mitigation. -
That's why I think something like this could work in the Arena or in the Architect. Drop an NPC in either of these locations that allows you to perform a regular respec, but you choose your Pri/Sec beforehand. Once done, you enter a mission and battle it out. After completion (or cancellation) you revert back to your original build.
It's a lot of work, and I'm not sure it would be worth it, but I know I'd use it at least a few times. -
Instead of an 'alt-build', I'd rather see a way to perform a temp pri/sec respec for a mission (no rewards, no debt) just so you can see if that's a build you think you'd enjoy playing.
I love Blasters, but am I really going to like a Sonic/Dev? Tankers are fun, but what about a Dark/Ice? I'm liking my Ice/Storm Controller, but would I like an Ice/Cold better? etc. -
Quote:The game tech *currently* does not support enemies the size of Rularuu the Ravager, who is the size of a building (about the size of the AE building, maybe bigger).
(1) Rularuu the Ravager- the prime evil form the Shadow Shard and the true face of Evil, the midnighters defeated him long ago but he's back.
Quote:(2)Striga Raid-There are Giant Mech Men being Build in Striga,Battle these Giant Robots.
Quote:(3) Cimerora Raid-Fight againest the Army Of Romeus and the 5th Column, fight againest a AV or Giant's Monster like i don't no a Giant Nictus Crystal.
Quote:(4)Sewer Network Raid-Not to much is done with the Sewer network could put a raid here huh huh.
Quote:(5)Bring back Base raids-Please i miss battling other sg Emo Cry .
Quote:(1) More TF or SF for Just for lvl 50 players
Quote:(2) More Story Arc just for lvl 50 can do
Quote:(3) More Harder Zones that reach past lvl 50,like lvl 54 for just teams and stuff. -
So, if I cannot enter an MA Mission until L20, what happens to all the stories based around Hellions, Skulls, Vahz, Outcasts, etc? Also, Custom Enemies range from 1-50, so why can I not fight them at Level 1? If you are limiting MA Mission to only 10+ the level of the character, how does it affect Sidekicks? If they cannot enter, why? They can currently tag along for a regular L50 Mission just fine.
I'm not denying the problem, just pointing out that these limitations are not the way to go. -
Thanks for the link, Zek! Also, your avatar is missing an 'e' I think.

I'm going to have to toss may hat into the 'yes' group. I have a Tanker that I would love to change from Science to Mutant, specifically due to the back story. I chose Science 'just because' and then created his background to fit into my Blaster's story. Since then, all of my Ice characters have been related story-wise, and he's the one Science. It's not a big deal, but I'd gladly trash all of my Enhancements he has if I could repec his Origin.
Also, the dual-Origin idea is pretty cool too. -
I, too, would like to see a different kind of Aim, and a Follow-Up or Blinding Feint could be interesting. As for the Pistol set itself, I would love for it to be a medium range set with mostly ST attacks and maybe a cone or two. The 'nuke' needs to be like Archery or AR where it can be used at least semi-regularly in an attack chain.
As for the Summoning set, it doesn't interest me...unless we can summon all those CoT Cold Demons. -
Well, I used the term Sidekick/Lackey just to leave it open to the player. If it's called a Guardian, then everyone would expect it to work either like a Defender or Tanker. I guess 'acquaintance' would be better.
As for the powers, the reason I wanted to make it 50/50 is because the pet is, technically, just an extension of the player. A player gets x number of Primary and Secondary abilities, and I just kept it in line with that. The powers available to the pets would have damage, heals, buffs, debuffs and minor control (mostly single target), all depending on the theme of the pet (an cold-themed pet could have -speed -recharge while a dark themed pet could have life transfers and -to hit and a Guardian Spirit could have auras and buffs). That's not to say the Assault side may not have some forms of mitigation like Freeze Ray or Touch of Fear. -
I like this idea. Actually, I'd love to see AT-specific Badges added to the game in general.
Slow Learner would be a great name for that too...I know I'm guilty of it (though I purposefully try and SB myself every time...just in case it bugs and actually goes off)

Commander
Primary: Assault
Secondary: Sidekick (Hero) / Lackey (Villain)
Damage: Medium/High
Defense: Low/Medium
HP: Medium
Concept: Player uses Assault Primary while also controlling their Pet and their Pet's Powers.
The Pet is an extension of the Player. Once it is summoned (the 1st power in the Secondary), it can be controlled using an interface similar to that of the Mastermind AT (Move, Attack, Defend, Passive, etc). If left unattended, the Pet will move and attack on it's own, similar to any other AI pet, depending on it's currently selected Stance (Aggressive, Defensive, Passive). The main difference between this Pet and any other is that the Player chooses when and where the Pet uses their powers. These powers will be placed on the Player's Power Tray, just like any other power.
The Primary Power Set, Assault, would be a mix of both ranged and melee attacks, with a few utility and/or some light defensive powers. The Secondary Power Set, the Pet, would be a mix of Damage, Buffs, Debuffs, and Control, all meant to assist the player in combat. Without the Pet, the Player is quite fragile, defensively speaking. The Pet would also have a weak inherent power that it would use as the default attack (something slightly higher than a brawl-level attack), as all of the powers would need to be activated by the player.
This would be considered an Advanced Archetype to play as the player would, in essence, be controlling two characters at the same time. This would allow the player to set up timed combo attacks and split aggro between themselves and their Pet.
Inherent: Pet Link (?)
Possible Issues:
Mez: There are no Mez Protection abilities available to this AT (other than IOs/PPs/etc). The reason for this is that both the Player and the Pet are separate entities. To fully shut the player down, both the Player and the Pet would need to be Mezed. If not, then the unmezed half would still be able to attack and use powers normally.
Inspirations: The 4th and 5th Columns of the Inspiration Tray are reserved for the Pet. When an Inspiration from either of these two columns are used, the Inspiration is applied to the Pet, not the Player.
Movement: All Pets would have the inherent Super Leap and Super Sprint abilities, allowing them to keep up with the Player without concern of being left behind or getting caught behind a wall or other geometry.
Travel Powers: All Pets will have access to all forms of Travel Powers. However, they are only activated when the Player activates their Travel Power(s). Once a Pet has a Travel Power enabled, they immediately go into Passive mode and are unable to use any Powers that affect enemies in any way. Once the Player disables their Travel Power(s), the Pet will also turn off their Travel Power(s) and immediately revert back into whichever Stance and Mode they were in before the Travel Power(s) were enabled. If a Player's Travel Power is Suppressed, the Pet will stay in their Travel Form and thus stay in Passive Mode. -
I tried to keep it simple, but on all of these the Primary and Secondary are synergies that would need to be made available together.
Blaster: Primary, Dark Blast.
Blaster: Secondary, Dark Manipulation.
Brute: Primary, Ice Melee.
Brute: Secondary, Ice Armor.
Stalker: Primary, Ice Melee.
Stalker: Secondary, Ice Armor.
Mastermind: Primary, Ice.
Mastermind: Secondary, Cold. -

Have we heard if we can change the powers customization based on the costume slot, or is it going to be one set of power color customization for one character?
[/ QUOTE ]
Powers can be individually customized per costume slot, but not supergroup mode.
[/ QUOTE ]
No SG mode!? What have been wasting your time on!?
I kid! I kid! Awesome work to all involved! I can't wait to tweak my powers. With custom animations, does this mean we may be able to choose our flight pose in the future as well? -

I think the Titans always had those powers, they just didn't work properly before.

Ding!
The tinkering with AI that we've been doing has caused some powers that previously NEVER got used to start showing up in the attack rotations.

Sweet! I was wondering why I never saw that attack accept on extremely rare occasions. Unless I'm thinking of the Kronos ambush using them due to the fact that its volleying missiles at you from the other side of the zone.Still, nice, I love fighting Malta. Though I may have to re-balance my arcs now.

Yes we have the day off.
But I'm using that time to write up the Issue 16 Announcement for next Tuesday.

Most favorite: This is a tough one. I'd say its a tie between Malta and Rularuu. I like the look and feel of both groups as well as the challenge they can give a good group if/when they slip up.
Least favorite: Nemesis. I love the look, the concept, and Nemesis himself, but they have a challenge rating of 0.01. Nemesis may be this super powerful demigod (or so he'd like to believe)...but his troops are useless.
Honorable Mention: Reflections. I think they are a cool concept, but wish there was a bit more story involved with them. They can be fun to fight too. -
Yes! The Extraordinary [censored] Clowns. It was a group of players (from the Blaster forums, IIRC) that decided to roll up a toon and abide by only one rule: "It's my $15, I'll play however I want." That was an awesome group of people and we, surprisingly, steam-rolled the Hollows. There was a Scrapper that would run through the level and pull *everything* back to the group, that was his 'thing'. As Fulmens stated, we had Tankers that would play Defender, Blasters that played Controller/Defender, Defenders that played Blasters, etc. That was the only time I actually had fun in the Hollows. I had an AR/Dev Blaster that played Controller using only Trops, Web, Taser and Beanbag, but never used any attack abilities because "I'm a Controller, not a Damager."

Fun thread.
Overall, I don't mind time travel in stories, its the time loops that I dislike. More specifically, an event happens then someone, who is part of the event, somehow figures out how to 'undo' the event. Which is where I go: How can you undo the event if the event doesn't happen? Then I go: That was a waste of my time. I watched/read something that didn't happen. Well then give me back my money, you know, because it didn't happen.
However, there has been one time I said "Hey, they did this right." A game called Spellforce had a story that was a paradox, and they did it right. If you like RTS/RPG games, I'd give it a look at, just beware that the voice acting is probably the worst I've ever heard. -

In the 5 years I've been here, I never thought I would ever read that. *sniff* Brings a tear to the eye. I love you all!

Most of the good ones have been said, but I'd like to add a few:
Burning Inside - Ministry (or the Static-X/Burton C. Bell version)
Inferno (Unleash the Fire) - Symphony X
Cowboys from Hell - Pantera
Battle Ready - Otep
Light my Fire - The Doors -
That's why you have a nuke build and a non-nuke build. My primary play style is nuke-less, but there are certain TFs where a nuke can be handy to have (just in case), so, I'll just change over to it.
