  1. I have tried 4 characters, all are fine until I try to enter my base. The loading screen shows a progress bar to about 20-25%, then freezes. Forever.

This has been observed on Justice 3 times and Triumph once, with most of them in Talos and one in Pocket D.

    Arrrrgh!

I'll be bugging it in-game, but wanted to put this out there. Anyone else?

    Things I tried:
    Shutting down completely
    Rebooting
    Verifying files

So far, the only thing that helped was grabbing a beer, and that'll eventually wear off! Any ideas?

  2. I like this reward because it helps the group*! I wish more Vet rewards were good for the SG or Team.
It's nice to have situational odds and ends of powers (favorite is Team Recall, again, 'cause it helps the Team), don't get me wrong.
I'd just rather have a pet who randomly heals or buffs a member of my group than one that helps only me.
How about a Rally or Mez breaker we could use on others?
("C'mon, kid, snap out of it!")
Anyway, thanks for this, I know ALL my SGs are glad of this news!

(*But a bit small % wise, don't you think? Could it scale?)
  3. I though it was Headbreaker or some such, a Scrapper attack.
  4. Awesome! Thanks, Thor!

    And on my birthday! Woot!

  5. Grats!

You guys just got the leverage working FOR you.
    And we all win!

I hope you will take it in the spirit intended when I say:

    Welcome to our world!
  6. Ever thought of going into advertising?
  7. OK, I too feel the price is too high -- but it's too late to change it now. Since that's probably the smallest amount NC want to deal with, how about adding some more free-to-NCSoft-but-valuable-to-me stuff?

F'rinstance, shouldn't a Wedding Pack come with a name change?

Or how about a Wedding Mystery Gift? At least 2 costume tokens? Access to the Tiki Room? A Honeymoon Bed for the base? An instanced Ski Lodge for a honeymoon getaway?

Just a bit more would make it feel worthwhile!

Regardless, nice work on the costumes.

PS: Any chance of a cane for the men?
  8. Good going, Devs! As far as I'm concerned, you are hereby forgiven for Enhancement Diversity! (Toss in a configurable power tray and I'll even forgive the Controller nerfs that maimed Dark Dark Defenders.)

Please, make the configurable display have a simple way to choose Simple Mode (a la Advanced Graphics on/off).
I want my numbers, but I know people for whom the lack of complexity is a major draw of CoX.

(On the subject of Real Numbers, accuracy of: I betcha they're simply exposing the numbers they are using, rather than adding a system to figure them out for you. My guess is any number you see will be what you're getting.)
  9. Macfuse is worth the trouble, it also lets you do nifty things like mount sshfs volumes, mount disk/disc/drive images, and use encrypted filesystems.

Why not use it and move your (Mac) swapfile to the ntfs volume? You can reclaim some of that space you're dedicating to Windows.

    Keep up the good work!
  10. Also, check City of Data for the REAL endurance costs of your powers. I have a friend who slotted END reducers into his Combat Jumping. Turns out CJ uses .013 END/sec, not enough to notice.

Also, with Vet reward prestige Sprint powers, I find I can put a Run on one of them, a Jump in another, an END reducer on a third, and just choose the right Sprint equivalent for the job.
  11. I can remember being in the drop team on old Hami and tping dead raiders up to my ceiling with Mutation queued up. They would fall past me and be rezzed mid-air.

Nice trick if they are ready for it (otherwise they tend to fall back into the goo and get annoyed).
  12. I used it on my Bots MM to great effect. As pointed out it worse than tp out of the box, but if you take it instead of TP you get tp foe and recall friend also.

And once slotted (2 range, 2 end for me) I notice no big diff from TP. I usually dump at least 2 into personal TP, which I can now avoid completely. In my case the slots worked out cheaper.

And the "surprise party" effect is well worth it!
  13. Respeccing for sale at full price is my favorite strategy, but as you say timing matters.

    Thanks for doing the math!
  14. Much bittersweet awesomeness. I miss him.

"What kind of world are we living in when Hunter S. Thompson kills himself quickly?"
  15. Looks like time for one of those online-friendly cards that give you a new # for each transaction. ..

ANYway, I tend to think the best of humans and I bet it went like this:

Wally McMart: Hey, NCSoft! We won't carry your games unless you give us one exclusive release a year, charge us less than your cost per shipment, and wax my car.

NCSoftie: Errr... (Pictures the world's largest retailer with only the competitor's games). Anything you say, Wal!

As for the online stuff... Remember the delay? Something got bollixed up (I'd bet paperwork. It could be a technical glitch, too.) and they only managed to straighten the Mastercard part out. They probably rushed it out after seeing the brick and mortar problems. It's what I'd do. (I'd also get Visa et al working, even if I had to outsource it.)

Appending goodies like this to our monthly account should be made very easy. Maybe we should have a PIN in addition to our passwords, but no more effort than that. That's business online!
NCSoft need to take a lesson from Cryptic and simplify their interface.

The goodies themselves? Kind of neat. I'll use the Pocket D card next time I have to pay rent -- I wish the ATM worked and you could pay rent there, but the D makes getting to Port Oakes easier.

Worth 9.99 to me, but I'm planning to install some jump jets and pretend I'm a Mech.
  16. When they say "time," do they mean the generally accepted definition (ie, that thing that keeps everything from happening at once) or do they have a more specific definition based on the General Theoryof Relativity?

And if the latter, what relative speed are they assuming? Because people living near the equator are moving faster than people nearer the poles, so they have a briefer subjective time. Is that fair?
  17. CoH+CoV is only 2 gig. You could play it from an ipod.

But I'd like to see it on a 4-gig thumb drive or flash card with a fast interface.

    Hmmm.
  18. Be sure to tell Firefox to not "Allow sites to change my colors." That way you can read the boards in black on white and look much more professional.

    Err. Or so I assume.
  19. Just a note from my (dated) experience of a 50 Ill/Rad:
GI and SI work together marvelously if you have opponents that drop toggles.

In Arena matches and vs Psi-heavy mobs, having my SI detoggled was much less traumatic when I was also GIed.

Alas, my days as a Psi-Tank (pre-nerf Mind Over Body and Indomitable Will) are gone. I probably couildn't even solo Psychic Babbage any more.

Still, a fun set and a great guide!
  20. You can click the guards to zone (e.g., enter the Hollows) right through the chainlink fence.

I keep a breakfree with my emergency Awaken. Some folks don't realize you can move at full speed immediately after Awakening if you Breakfree.

If you are dead you can still pass Inspirations to nearby teammates.

"Pet" powers (including things like Tar Patch and Rains) can be used around corners.

Jumping enhancements are cheaper by far than Run Speed enhancements, and some people prefer the results.

A Jump in Sprint, + Hurdle with a Jump + Combat Jumping = Speediest solo travel pre-14.

(Of course, Recall Friend is the fasteest way to travel 1-50.)

2 teleporters can exchange positions if they each Recall Friend simultaneously. (Team TP confirmation helps sync them).

Some folks will tell you not to slot TOs, that they are useless. I disagree, but you need 4 slots worth to equal 1 SO. Still, they add up. Combining them is a fool's game, though. Sell Sell Sell!

Here's one that came up last night. can anyone thinl of a macro that will toggle the FPS display?

    [/ QUOTE ]

    /macro fps "++showfps$$++netgraph" should work.

Grotus, you are brilliant! Thanks much for this elegant solution!
  22. Here's one that came up last night. can anyone thinl of a macro that will toggle the FPS display?

    /macro FPS "showfps 1 $$ netgraph 1"
    /macro fps "showfps 0 $$ netgraph 0"

Is what I currently use, but it uses two buttons.
  23. Seems to be designed not to need Stamina. I approve.

I also like that the buffs are less intrusive on the buffee than FF.

Damage is good, similar to /Rad I think.
