  3. There is to be a training room update at 3pm CDT. Changes will include:

    Badges

    · The Redeemer badge is now awarded correctly
    · The badge for completing the Cavern of Transcendence trial is now awarded correctly
    · The badge for completing the Eden trial is now awarded correctly
    · Fixed a bug in Zookeeper badge.
    · Fixed a bug in Master of Olympus badge.
    · Fixed a bug in Statesman’s Pal badge.
    · Fixed bad badge (Gravedigger).

    Powers:
    · Changed the long description for Super Strength/Hurl and Footstomp. They said they were Heavy damage when the damage is more like moderate (power did not change, only description).

    · Updated all War Mace Damage descriptions (powers did not change, only the accuracy of the descriptions).
    · Changed the long description for Claws/Eviscerate damage. It said it was Heavy damage when the damage is more like Superior (power did not change, only description).

    · Changed the long description for Voltaic Sentinel damage. It said it was Heavy damage when the damage is more like Moderate (power did not change, only description).

    · Replaced all long description text of that said a power was “Heavy” damage and changed it to “High” damage for consistency (this did not change any actual powers, only the description was updated).

    · Changed the long description for Power Punch/Whirling Hands and Fire Sword Circle damage. It said it was Minor damage when the damage is more like Moderate (power did not change, only description).

    · Changed the long description for Stone Mallet/Heavy Mallet damage. It said it was Extreme damage when the damage is more like Superior (power did not change, only description).

    · Fixed a bug in Hurricane that was causing the Villain version of Hurricane to debuff Heroes 10 seconds after they left the affected area of the Hurricane. This change did not affect Hero Hurricanes.

    · Villain Hurricanes will no longer reduce the Range of Tanker and Scrappers. This is to prevent their melee ranges from being reduced to 0. All other aspects of Hurricane still apply to Scrappers and Tankers (they can get knocked down and their accuracy will be reduced). Other archetypes will still be affected by the range debuff. (this change only affects villain Hurricane).

    · Modified Crey Protectors MoG and Unstoppable powers so they don’t last so long. (modified the quills protector power).

  5. Let's all go to the test server, let's all go to the test server, let's all go to the test server, and get ourselves some pie!

Really, copy a character and go to the test server and see how it is to you now. If you think there are bugs with it - post in the test server forum. If you don't like it and have a suggestion, post it in the general forum.

Why? Because it is coming to a live server near you soon and may address your problem.

  8. Agree to Disagree yall. Keep the flames down or it will be as hard to post in this thread as it is to get into the City of Gyros.
  9. There has been a plethora of research done in regard to what people get out of RPGs. One of the papers that sheds some great light on MMOs is actually a paper about MUDs - Click Link Here!

One of the things you can see as you poke around the boards is these different player types represented in posts - and the conflict that arises from enjoying and preferring different things in games.

Its kind of a gamer personality type – most people have a primary types, but will do other types of gaming to achieve the goals of their primary type.

There are Achievers, Killers, Explorers, and Socializers.

    Achievers want to level.
Killers want to impose themselves on others.
    Explorers want to see/do everything.
Socializers want to talk about it.

    CoH examples –

    Achievers – Power Levelers
    Killers – Griefers/KSers
    Explorers – Badges
    Socializers – Dance Club

A good MMO tries to make all types of play available in their games.

A good player realizes that games are different things to different people.

  21. Want to see your work in the comic book? Checkout our “job listing” for the comic book’s community section!

The Paragon Times Freelance Journalists Wanted!

“Do you have a knack for digging up topical news and creating insightful features? Are you a talented “photographer” with a nose for action and an eye for detail? Do you have a passion for reporting on the events, small and large, that affect this great city?

Paragon City is a vibrant, modern metropolis at a crossroads—rife with conflict, heroism and mind-boggling action. If there are eight million stories in the “Naked City,” Paragon City has at least twenty million. To capture the heartbeat, the life’s blood, the sheer heroic soul of this magnificent city, the Paragon Times needs the very best journalists.

We need you! Paragon City needs you!

Every month we will be putting an issue of the Paragon Times newspaper in the comic book, and we want you—the community—to contribute “journalistic” work to its pages. Now you can be both a super-powered hero and a city reporter!

    What are we looking for?

Imagine you are a staffer for a large and prestigious newspaper in a city filled with history, constant action, interesting people and places; the potential for “news” is limited only by your imagination. Have you come across an exceptional hero or team? Write an interview. The Circle of Thorns seen outside their normal haunts—track down the facts and write up a news item. Love the architecture in Atlas Park? Do a feature about the various monuments and the history behind them. Have a love of history? Dive into the back-story and come up with a historical piece about the city or an event. Ever wonder what the citizens of Paragon really think about heroes, villains, or city hall? Let them speak out in op-ed pieces.

Be creative! Be serious! Be humorous! Have fun!

The articles should be concise and written in a journalistic style. Pick up your local paper to get a good idea of how to write a news item or article. The main topics we’d like to see are:

    • News reflecting current in-game events or content. Here are some examples: “Need for Air Traffic Control Above the City”; “Rikti Crash Site Mystery”; “Task Force Mission Disaster!”; “Who are the Malta Group?”

    • Hero/team spotlights (interviews)

    • Crime reports/Villain group articles (“5th Column Moving into CoT Territory?”)

    • Features on interesting areas (zones)—think “travel section” material with screenshots

    • “NPC” interviews or op-eds

    • “Flashback” pieces about past city events (based on available back-stories)

    • “Photo-essays” featuring events, areas, or history

Do you have a great idea for a piece? We’re open to suggestions!

    The Paragon Times Submission Guidelines:

News items should be short, no more than 200-250 words in length, with appropriate screenshots (no more than 3) if available. Interviews, features and general articles should be no longer than 500 words. NPC interviews or op-eds should be between 100 and 150 words. Photo-essays should include no more than 4 screenshots in jpg or tiff formats with appropriate captions. The deadline for any specific issue is the 15th of each month.

Selected work may appear under your real name or an appropriate “journalistic” pseudonym. Written submissions will be accepted only in .doc/.txt formats. All submissions, questions and queries should be emailed to cohsubmissions@plaync.com. Please put “Community News Article” in the subject line.

Good luck! We’re looking forward to seeing your contributions!
  22. We appreciate your feedback AND criticisms. We expect people to tell us what they think about the game - in a constructive manner. And we know there are going to be people who get very passionate about the game one way or the other. We like it - we may not like the insults, no one does, but we like that people are passionate about a product and a community that we spend so much of ourselves to bring to the players. We like our jobs, we like our community, and we like games. That's who we are... thanks for being a part of it!
