Yeah, I'm with you. I'm quite sure I used a raptor pack briefly in a Lambda the other night. Maybe there's a bug that's letting us use them when we shouldn't be? Or maybe travel temps are an exception.

EDIT: Found it. Travel-only temp powers were enabled in the 4/26 patch.

  2. Thank you very much for doing this, Von Krieger.

    And also...

Now that is interesting. I will give that a try. Thank you.
  4. Very, very glad to see the fixes to iXP and League invites. Thank you very much for that.

    However..

Yeah, I completely agree, especially if you're playing a support character. Bad enough that the team UI no longer shows readable numbers by design, now due to the bug, I can't see some of my teammates health or end at all on the team list, meaning I have to try to keep an eye on them amidst the mobs.
  5. Ice/Dark Corruptor: 50(+3), A - t4, JIL - t3, D - t3(x2)
    Sonic/Pain Corruptor: 50(+3), A - t4, JIL - t3, D - t3(x2)
    Claws/Nin Stalker: 50(+1), A - t3, I - t1
    DB/Inv Brute: 50(+1), A - t3 (I think; can't check right now)
    Spines/WP Scrapper: 50, A unlocked; unslotted

The corruptors, who are my main and secondary characters, have achieved my personal goals for them. But since I occasionally still run trials on the them just for kicks, and they get shards in regular content, I expect they'll end up with Tier 4's somewhere down the road. Same probably goes for the Stalker, who has just started doing Trials and is probably my #3 at this point. Another brute, EM/SR, will hit 50 and unlock her Alpha this week, and I'm looking forward to doing the Trials and Apex & Tin Mage with her.

Yeah, I agree. I think that some of the descriptions of the ATs and the Inherent abilities will need some changing when you can start any AT on any side (Scourge springs immediately to mind). And I expect it's been thought of and is in the works.

I thought I had commented before, but apparently not. Very nice guide, and I thank you for it. I am looking forward to the "Role of the Off-Tank" section.

I did not know that was an option! Every run I've been on we've just busted down the doors and wiped out the spawns. Not that that isn't fun, but having this alternative is so cool.

Edit: Judgement is at 38% and Interface is at 40%. Without burning a lot of threads and Astral merits it will take another couple of weeks to unlock just those two. OTOH i will have components piled to my neck for making the powers by the time i do unlock them, so that's a plus i guess.
Yeah, I was in a similar situation recently with my sonic/pain corr. He got Judgement unlocked then...nothing. Dribs and drabs of iXP. I finally just bought the rest of the iXP he needed to unlock everything and he did indeed have so many components piled up at that point that I was able to immediately craft him up to T3 in everything. I suppose I could have just stopped doing Trials until the issue was fixed, but I had reasons for wanting to do them. Glad they are working on a fix though.

Leandro, thanks for doing this! Very interesting.

Me too. I just assumed it must somehow have been an error I made, even though I couldn't imagine how. I'll be a lot more careful now.

    AS-Less Stalker

I'll agree with those who say it's situational. Teaming in missions, I often only use it as a lead attack, unless we're dealing with an AV that's taking some effort to put down; in Trials, I've found that I rarely, if ever, use it. Solo, however, I use it all the time. Since I love soloing my stalkers I get more than enough use out of it to make it worthwhile, but YMMV. If you're never using it, then I could certainly understand the decision to go without.
  12. I have no current plans to stop paying my subscription or to move off Virtue. It's the only server I play on and it's where my friends are. Things change, but that's where I stand at the moment.
  13. And they revamped Energy Aura. Be still my beating heart! Cannot wait to see how this will effect my BS/EA stalker.

EDIT: Oh yeah...and Ice Armor! Hmm...Do I really need another stalker? I just might...
  14. I've done it twice so far and was surprised by how much I liked it. So much more to do, and to think about, than in the other two, it seems.

I think the one thing I can pinpoint as not liking about it is the red & blue entanglement auras, at the end. They annoyed me because I like to stay in close, in truth, probably closer than I really need to (on my Ice/Dark and Sonic/Pain corruptors), and because they just felt like a bit "much" on top of the disintegration and the timestop trick (Oh...hot tip: the "R" key, Flight, and Timestop: horrifying or hysterical combo. Take your pick). But the annoyance was minor at best, so perhaps "not liking" was too strongly worded.

You would perhaps have enjoyed the recent gigglefest my friends and I engaged in - the Mostly Illusion TF. We had 5 Illusion controllers and 1 dom. It was hysterical. Some of us plan to do a Mostly Storm excursion soon (I hope) and then, to go in a completely different direction, the Mostly Stalker outing.
  15. This looks fantastic. I was really intrigued to try the new tutorial even before this reveal about the new loading screens. Can't wait to see it.

    Corruptor duos

I too think you might be hard pressed to come up with a bad duo, but I will say that the times I have duo'd my Ice/Dark with my friend's Fire/Kin have been pure joy.
  17. The initial choice would be quite easy for me. It would have to be my two corruptors, who are my primary characters. One is my main for missioning, and my namesake, the other is sort of my RP main.

I wouldn't last long, though, before I had to acquire at least two additional slots, one for one of my brutes and one for one of my stalkers. I love my corrs, but sometimes I just have to hit something in the face or stab it in the back.

I play all AT's except Tanks. However, I'll never enjoy any AT as much as I do Blasters. I think this is because I learned the game with a Blaster. My 1st and oldest toon is a Blaster. Made for a rough learning curve but was very rewarding afterwards. Sadly, it proved to be limiting in my future enjoyment of melee AT's. With Blasters I have to think on my feet and use tactics and skill to survive. I have to know when to attack and when to hold back. I have to use LoS and KB to leverage the battle. In short I have to be active, very active on Blasters. Well almost, keeping an 8 man invincible team alive on my Empath around level 14 proved to be very satisfying.

When I try to play a scrapper... It gets boring really really quickly. To the point of me drifting to sleep in missions sometimes. The repetitive click click click recycle of attacks without fear of my life keeping me alert means I just can't get that into any AT with defense. I need to be kept on my toes at all times. I need to feel that at any moment the tide could turn and sweep me under if I lose focus. I just don't get that rush of adrenaline from any AT other than Blasters.

Because that's how I learned the game.
So how did you learn the game? Was it on a support toon? If so, there's your answer.
That's interesting. I had the opposite experience. My first character, and first to 50, was a spines/wp scrapper. I specifically created her because the sets looked fun and easy for a new player to deal with, and because I wanted to be confident that I'd be able to solo as well as team (and I was right on all counts). And while she still holds a special place in my heart, she rarely gets played anymore. My primary characters now are both corruptors. Which I must tell you, came as a big surprise to me; I did not really expect to enjoy them as much as I do.

I do still love my brutes and stalkers and my one tank, but I too tend to find scrappers a bit boring now. I guess I feel like the other melee sets give me just a little something 'more' to think about. But even at that, I tend to play them when either when I'm in the mood for soloing (yeah, even the tank) or am in the mood to play a different (from my usual) role on the team. The corruptors are definitely my go-to characters for teaming and my main, the ice/dark corr, can also solo beautifully (sonic/pain, not so much).

The one character I just can't seem to get past level 10 is my bots/traps MM. I know, right! I know I'm supposed to love the uberness! But I just...don't ...feel it...

(And on a side note, could my post have been any more parenthetical?)

    Virtue Or VIP

No plans to leave Virtue unless something unforeseen happens, like the people I regularly play with decide to up and move. Currently, that seems unlikely, but you never know.

Actually, the other thing that might make me consider it would be if the lag, which to me seems to be nearly perpetual now, goes from 'deeply annoying' to 'truly unbearable.' But we'll see what happens; I don't tend to get too worked up in advance over things I can't predict.
  23. Crystalline

    Ascension Armor

She looks fantastic! I can only imagine how thrilled you must be. (Actually, I guess "squeeeee" said it all). Congratulations.
  24. I hope this is on-topic enough not to hijack the OP's thread, but the discussion brings up several questions in my mind. I haven't played my brute in a BAF yet (nor my tank, who is not yet 50) and I'm not sure I fully understand how I should deal with the sequestering on them. It sounds like some of you are saying that taunting aggro to yourself when you see another player get warned is recommended, but then what? Is it best to simply continue attacking and lay off taunting, and always to move away when the 2nd warning pops? Advice is appreciated. Thanks.
