I rolled my first kheldians about a year ago, one of each. The warshade hit 50 about sometime around August I think; the peacebringer is still in his 30s. I really like playing the WS; reason it took so long to level him was the tedium of getting through so much material I'd already done on other toons. I did wind up PLing him through maybe 10 levels, but he's a lot of fun to play.

My 3rd Khan TF yesterday was defined as a speed run, so we barrel through, hit glowies and exit as fast as possible. When we get to Reichsman we decide to stay on him the whole time, ignoring the other 4 AVs entirely.
Reichsman had less than 100 HP left when he one-shotted half the team, started healing, wiped out the rest of us (w/ help from the other 4 AVs), and was back to full health... while us player character types had exhausted our inspirations and many of us had completely used up the grounding ray temp.
But wait, this is the Success Story thread...
One scrapper rezzes and manages to get out into the hall. Soon we're all being teleported to the hall to join him. Between the insp we have left, a handful of rez powers, and insps that drop from the 5th Cols we kill in the hall, we soon get a decent stash of pills to pop. Then we pull the AVs into the hall to join us. Even taking 2 at a time they drop fast. Now we return our focus to Reichsman, this time with no distractions, and whittle him away to nothing.
Despite the team-wipe and the limited rounds of grounding ray still available to us, we still finished in under 30 minutes (IIRC). Sure, we had something like 27 deaths, but so what? We all got what we came for, be it Notice, Shards, Merits, or just a fast and furious TF. -
ItsJames, have you successfully logged into the game yet? From what you've been saying, the Deluxe Edition you are using may only be for European Servers, but you might be in an area where you need access to the North America servers.

Just gotta put in my two cents worth.
I like it.
That's all you get for two cents these days. -
I would have loved origin type to have more relevance, but I'm also leery of seeing new game mechanics added severn years after the fact. Rather than added origin-specific powers, I think origin-specific missions could be added.
The missions COULD be related to origin-specific contacts that are available L35-50, or it could just be in the form of which tips you get as drops. A way to change origins wouldn't be necessary, unless there were badges associated with the origin-specific content, but they could always make include a way to change / add origins like a respec or something to purchase w/ Reward Merits (honestly, RMs need more love these days).
If you want something that gives a toon a benefit based on origin, you could give a small xp bonus for certain arcs based on origin. This would encourage ppl to play their origins more closely, and by the time you're 50, it would make no difference at all. After all, at L50 you're going for Incarnate, which is a big cosmic / mystic revamp anyway, so origin SHOULDN'T be involved, IMO. -
Just wanted to point out one crossover that IS in continuity, and is an important part of continuity at that.

This story is the ONLY explanation for what happened to the Wildstorm Universe superteam StormWatch, which was wiped out in the crossover. -
Quote:You called the person who came up with the /market vet reward an "idiot". If that is your idea of thought out and very intentional phraseology, it is clear you are not here to discuss anything, merely to insult and complain.First, my choice of words was thought out and very intentional.
My only suggestion is to not make something as incredibly useful as the market slash command a vet reward.
The rest of the stuff, I don't care about.
Good luck getting what you want. -
Quote:I have to say, you choice of words makes you an unlikely person to be suggesting a reasonable "fix".Then they should quit making such useful things like the market slash command vet rewards. The fact that seven year vets are the only people that get this is a joke. And whoever made that decision is an idiot.
I'm a 32 month vet. I'd love to have been playing back when the game went live, but I wasn't. I'd love to have the anniversay badges from back then, but I don't. I'd love to have a shot at get the 5th Columnist Gladiator Badge, but I seemingly never will.
Love to, but I do not meet the requirements for them. Should someone who served in the military from 1995 - 2000 be eligible to wear a Korean War era medal? Should someone who served in the military but never saw combat be able to 'earn' the Purple Heart? Should a boy who first joined the Boy Scouts in the 6th Grade be able to wear badges associated with being a Cub Scout?
No, and these event & veteran badges that vex you so are no different.
Yes, I think there should be other ways to get a /market power. Yes, I think there should be ways for newer toons to earn the 5th Columnist gladiator badge. And yes, I would love to be able to have a non-combat redcap pet on my toon RIGHT NOW. But none of these things are game-breakers; they're rewards being offered to people who've done the TIME.
Maybe they will offer some of the vet-only rewards as accolades you can get some other way. Maybe they'll add some of them into later Incarnate materials. But realistically, it does a disservice to the people that actually have been playing the game for 81 months to think I or anyone else deserves the badges assocated with being an 81 Month vet without having paid and played the game for 81 months.
If you want the benefits, make intelligent arguments about why and how this should be done. If you just want the badges, stop. Just... stop. -
I completed a LRSF after slotting my rare on my scrapper; no mapserving occured.

Quote:It is a shame that there hasn't been a crossover between Marvel & DC since then, as such an effort MIGHT acknowledge the JLA/Avengers mini. But what I'd really rather see is a crossover set IN that faux Silver Age, with Earth-1 and Earth-616 interacting fairly regularly.Yeah, it's a true shame that JLA/Avengers hasn't been recognised in any continuity way, because of all of the great one-off encounters or moments that they have, not the least being the epic one-page standoff between Batman and Captain America, and the whole third issue being a glorious Silver Age reimagining of both teams' entire histories.

We did one two weeks ago on Infinity, planning to do another next weekend.
-
Since you ARE level 50, just go to Ouroborous and talk to Mender Ramiel. If he gives you the mission, then clearly the GM was mistaken.
-
That GM was incorrect. My Scrapper was made into a villain back in October; he's now a rogue. When i19 went live I got my Alpha slot unlocked in the redside Ouroborous.
-
I'm not gonna MISS Wizard, but I do remember it fondly from the late 80s into the late 90s, when it was a magazine for fan boys written by fan boys.

Only real way to do it is give the friend your money information so he can use it to purchase the booster, or he can give you his account information, so you can do the same.
The BEST way to do this is to purchase a NCSoft game card, which you can buy at GameStop, WalMart, Seven-11, etc, and email him the code on the card, that way the money information isn't in the form of a credit card or paypal account number. -
"Hey cool, you got the Master of Statesman Task Force! I heard that one was tough."
"Nope, all I had to do was log into COX 1260 times last month."
"Aw, I just started playing this month, guess I missed the free badges."
"No worries, they'll do it again next year." -
Specifically, Pilot is a villain side badge, but if you have that badge and then turn hero, it will be replaced by the Grounded badge.
Likewise, if you have the Commuter badge and go villain, it will be replaced by the Fare Jumper badge.
So you don't lose the dayjob, but you do lose the title in exchange for a new one. Sucks if your intent was to have a heroic character that bore the title of Pilot, but at least you retain the job. -
Quote:Sadly even this is not true.IIRC, crossovers like JLA/Avengers and Green Lantern/Silver Surfer took place in the same continuity as Amalgam did (relative to the separate universes, not the merged one).
For a long while, DC and marvel both acknowledged the Marvel/DC mini series and the Amalgam comics alternate dimension in their main continuities. Access showed up in an issue of Green Lantern, Thorion (Thor / Orion amalgam) showed up in an issue of Avengers Forever, the cosmic brothers who represented the two multiverses showed up in an issue of X-Men Adventures, etc. This was also the same continuity used for the Superman / Fantastic Four crossover, Superman / Silver Surfer, and Silver Surfer / Green Lantern.
But then came the JLA/Avengers, which had the two worlds meeting for the FIRST TIME. This is a big deal in the story, and the differences between the MU and DCU are important to understand why that mini-series was even written. My favorite bit was when Hawkeye saw the JLA for the first time and assumed they were a watered-down copy of the Squadron Supreme. To my knowledge this story has only been acknowledged by DC once (JLA: EARTH II), and never by Marvel (except maybe in one of their Handbooks).
With the case of DC, they had that whole FINAL CRISIS or INFINITE CRISIS or whichever showed that Superman (I) and Superboy were causing changes in reality all the time, so the fact that a crossover that WAS in continuity is no longer in continuity... is actually in keeping with continuity. I kinda hate the last 5 years of DC comics.
As for the shared-world crossovers, most of those are considered seperate stand alone stories that cannot be added to Marvel or DC continuity for simple copyright reasons. Only exceptions I know of are that the original Superman / Spider-man crossover was shown to be an alternate universe in the pages of Marvel's WHAT IF as well as Avengers Forever, and a comic featuring Azrael reflecting on his time as Batman makes allusions to his fights with Jigsaw and the Punisher. Officially DC calls all crossovers Elseworlds, so they can disavow any and all of them at their leisure.
Smaller companies tend to acknowledge crossovers, especially if the character is creator-owned. Hellboy and Grendel's crossovers with Batman are in-continuity for those franchises, though I'm sure they could be with the BPRD-Universe Batman and the Grendelverse Batman, respectively.
And don't get me started on the crossovers involving the Image Comics studios.
I used to run a website dedicated to Amalgam Comics and Crossover Comics, but it was on GeoCities and is no more. I could geek on for days about this. -
I know there are the occasional jaunts into RV on Infinity, but those seem focused solley on defeating the AVs and Heroes that can be found only in RV. Hey, I'm as big a badge-whor... badge-hunter as you'll find, but would anyone actually be interested in fighting other players? Arena, Zone, heck I'd even stoop to Gladiator matches.
I love the Infinity community, and I'd hate to feel that I have to move to Freedom or Champion if I want to explore this part of the game. So if you happen to get a sudden urge to PvP (hey, there ARE badges and PvPIO recipess to be had this way) and you see @Kavik online, gimme a holla. I'll drop anything short of a TF to meet you on the field of honor, or the monkey-poo encrusted cage. -
If we succeeded at everything we attempt to do in this game on the first try, there'd be no challenge. Kudos to everyone who stuck it out, even when it looked hopeless (happened more than once). It is easy to see why this trial is done so very rarely though; unless you have 24 players that have all done it before, there's bound to be some confusion, and the cool-down for a "do-over" is quite discouraging .
Any chance the leaders have a list of who was on which team, so we don't have to wade through passers-by trying to join just because there's a lot of people in one spot? Clearly these forums alone won't provide the required 24 players. -
Well, sign me (Fitheal McClurichaun - brute) up for next weekend's run!
-
Quote:Gotcha, thx.BB isn't really a hotspot for PvP on any server that I know of. I would just spend your time lvl'n, accolading, getting your IO's for your build and if you get bored there are times when Siren's has some action, but most action is found in RV and in kickball's that happen pretty often in Pocket D.
-
A'ight, thanks. Guess once I hit L15, I just show up in Bloody Bay and see if anyone wants to wrassle? I'm definitely not League material yet, and a lot of the chatter here suggests a lot of PvP is done in leagues or league-style events.
