Pilot for Heroes?

If I were to take a hero all the way over to villain alignment, and then get the Pilot dayjob by hanging out near a Black Helicopter for 21 days, would he get to keep his pilot certification when he switches back to hero? Or would it get revoked or otherwise reverted to Commuter?

the pilot badge is a completely different badge from commuter

commuter is a heroside only day job (ie must be a hero or vigilante to earn it)

pilot is a villain only day job (must be villain or rogue to earn)

Specifically, Pilot is a villain side badge, but if you have that badge and then turn hero, it will be replaced by the Grounded badge.

Likewise, if you have the Commuter badge and go villain, it will be replaced by the Fare Jumper badge.

So you don't lose the dayjob, but you do lose the title in exchange for a new one. Sucks if your intent was to have a heroic character that bore the title of Pilot, but at least you retain the job.

Perhaps setting one's title as Pilot would keep the title even though the badge itself would turn to Grounded? That may be a workaround for heroes who want to be pilots. Anyone able to test this idea?

no, and it was said in the above posts, and its been said pre GR too by the devs once you earn a badge you can never lose it

Unfortunately the titles are dynamic. I tried it with a gender-specific badge 'Pumpkin Queen' and switched to a male build where it immediately switched to 'Pumpkin King'.

Which doesn't really tell us anything. Changing gender and changing alignment are two completely different systems.

Regarding setting the badge title, then changing alignment, I heard from someone I know that it DOES work. HOWEVER, this was a while ago. It may have been fixed by now since this is obviously not 'working as intended'.

Well, if it does work, hopefully the devs "fixing" it is a non-priority, as there does not seem to be any valid reason other than mule headed stubbornness for keeping heroes from having this title.

It was tested during Issue 18 beta, and any hero or vigilante with any badge that had a blue/red version name switched to the blue version while they were blue aligned and the red version while they were villains or rogues. Except for Praetorians with specific gold badge versions.

In this case any hero or vigilante will have Grounded as their badge title, and that changes the moment they switch from rogue to hero. The moment they switch from vigilante (edit: to villain), the title changes back to Pilot.

But since the badge system is one in its own right; it should give you an idea that since it 'reads' gender dynamically; it will more than likely 'read' alignment too, especialy with all the work that was done to make sure Villains got their bluside equivalents.

I'll let you know about that since I have a vigi who's gained progress on his remaining redside dayjobs and am going to turn villain again. I'll try one of the blueside badges like Commuter to see if it still works or changes to Fare Jumper.

IIRC, an alignment change from one absolute to the other (going from Rogue to Hero, or from Vigilante to Villian) wipes our your in-game titles, and I THINK the badge title as well. If you gimme a few days, I'll test again to be sure (I wanted to take my badger back to Vigilante status anyway, he's sitting on Rogue right now).

I think your only hope on this is to be a Rogue, if you need to retain the Pilot flag.

ATM, yes. I just switched from Vigilante to villain with Commuter and it changed to Fare Jumper.

The question is, if Im a hero and need the arachnos base dayjob badge, could I just go to warburg and run to the base and log off there? Or do I need to become a vig?

If you're still a Hero then I don't think you're going to be getting close the to Arachnos base areas in Warburg without getting attacked. Besides even though you could earn credit towards redside Day Job badges as a Vigilante you'd eventually have to shift over to full Villain before the game would actually award you those badges anyway.

The base in Warburg doesn't give credit for that day job badge. It is overridden by Predator.

I'd never even considered trying to get Cannon Fodder/Arachnos Agent badge credit in Warburg until Yat Man's post but yeah I'd guess Predator would override any attempt for that regardless. *shrugs*

Curiously the only day job the Predator badge doesn't override is the Pilot day job (and I've only checked in Bloody Bay). Good luck getting that close on a hero. Even so it will not award for vigilantes or heroes, however you might still get credit for when you change to being a villain.

AFAIK, redside dayjob badge credit still accrues for vigilantes, it's just that the badges won't actually award until you make the switch to villain. So you could do most of the work with the character as a vigilante, and still be able to play them blueside at the same time.

Totally thought this thread was gonna be about a pilot episode of the tv show Heroes.

Even if your idea of getting Cannon Fodder/Arachnos Agent badge credit in Warburg was possible that would've only been 1 of the 6 redside Day Joy badges heroes can now earn via sideswitching. If you were interested in earning the others you really couldn't avoid going to other places over on the redside anyway.

As Grouchybeast pointed out you could stay Vigilante, play blueside and just log off redside for the Day Jobs. Then when you have full progress bars for all of them you could just take a few days to swing around through the villain and rogue alignments back to hero to get the badges. *shrugs*
