What A Wild Ride It's Been

Earlier tonight, my Warshade Starless Knight dinged 50 by killing Reichsman in the Kahn TF. I don't think I could have planned it better. Reichsman fell over, and BOOM! 50.

It's been a ton of fun leveling him. He's also the first character I've ever played that the idea of hitting 50 didn't diminish my interest in. Before logging out I unlocked the Alpha slot on him. Most of his IO build is done (just need 3 more sets). I have no doubt I'll spend a good chunk of the weekend playing him.

To anyone struggling with a low level Warshade: stay with it. The AT gets MUCH better, trust me on that one. Obscenely better. So much better you'll wonder why you ever thought the character wasn't a god.

Ah well. Off to bed now. I just wanted to gush a little on the boards before sleep.

Big congrats!

I love my Warshade, but I don't play him enough. Too many new shiny possibilities with GR that revitalized my altaholicism, but I don't regret ever making and playing a Warshade to 50.

Congratulations on the Epic ding!

My favorite 50 Ding was more planned out. I got to within 200 points of 50 and turned off XP. Then I went to Atlas and kneeled infront of Liberty. At the right moment I used the complete mission option and Viola!!
A new 50 was born for all in Atlas to see!

Back OT.

I rolled up a Warshade a while back and was initially underwhelmed. I love the concept I came up with and the general feel of the toon but just felt so weak starting out that I couldn't really get behind him.

What level did you start feeling competent at? I'm just not sure I could wait 30+ levels just to get Eclipse.

I rolled my first kheldians about a year ago, one of each. The warshade hit 50 about sometime around August I think; the peacebringer is still in his 30s. I really like playing the WS; reason it took so long to level him was the tedium of getting through so much material I'd already done on other toons. I did wind up PLing him through maybe 10 levels, but he's a lot of fun to play.

In my opinion, the snowball starts rolling at 18 with Gravity Well, but the engine of destruction and purple flaming doom has all it needs by level 22 and Stygian Circle.

I agree completely. My biggest problem early on was letting myself feel "trapped" into Dwarf form all the time. Once I started using inspiration macros so that I always had a break free handy, things really took off. It's hard to believe that something so simple can have such a big impact on a character.

Congrats.

I just rerolled a WS (my level 50 one is stuck EU side in an inactive account) and have gotten myself to level 14 pretty quickly (sewer team and then an 8 man Midnighters arc). Inherent Stamina makes a world of difference to my Nova form, Endurance was a total non-issue for them (even with Hasten running). Was on a Montague Castanella team last night with 3 tanks and a Brute on it which meant I could float above them and lob purple death down without any risk.

22 is where I feel it really kicks off for a WS as well (it will also be the point I run a vet respec in order to 'leverage' my level 1-6 slots). You get a huge variety of powers and tricks to mess with nearly every time and you have slotted Dwarf, Stygian Circle and SOs to mess with.

I'm in the process of writing a POPMenu for the Warshade, taking tricks from the Kheldian Bind thread, as I go, so once I've gotten it to a decent stage I'll post it up (the Menu and the Bind Files I have have some weird corruption in them which I cannot see but which means CoH misreads them, which I have to resolve).

Thank you. I'm looking forward to seeing the PopMenu you're working on. I use so many binds on my Warshade I think a PopMenu would be a neat idea.

It's good to know that things Do Get Better with warshades... I played Mist, my Peacebringer, to 50 and pretty much had a great time with him all the way through. Alshain, my warshade, has been stuck in the teens for months. Something about playing her as a lowbie has just never "clicked" the way the PB did.

'Guess I need to break her out and push her into the 20's.

I've been told that my MFing Warshade guide fixes this kind of problem.

I actually read your guide right after I made her, Dechs.

What are these PopMenus and inspiration macros people are talking about?
