I suddenly wonder if there's anyone on Virtue with the name "Mackie Messer". I'll bet there's that and "Macheath".
I'd check, but I'm not at home! -

Hey, you think if you keep switching sides over and over again while running inf from one side to another, you'll get some kind of badge for morally waffling like that?
The Wishy-Washy Badge: "Make up your mind, already!" -
So, uh... who's been paying 200,000 infamy for a Thorn Tree Vine on the Black Market?
'Cause, you know, dang! -
Quote:More like Kheldians, The 5th Column, The Council, and Requiem.I think a War Witch TF would make more sense dealing with the events in the Blue King comics. IIRC, that was... Vahzilok and Cranival of Shadows?
Or maybe it would be about finally bringing Apex into the game in some way. Perhaps with his new sidekick. And he should have a totally new and awesome costume now to go with that iron sword. -
I kind of like the idea of a team of misfit heroes and villians trying to do the ITF, where all of them have but one or two of their most important powers, if any at all!
I wonder how many hours it would take to complete it. -
You know what might be kinda cool, is if they had some kind of Vet reward or GR perk that allowed two simultaneous logins per account. I suppose, as long as they originate from the same IP or something!
Just a thought! -
Quote:They must have hired people who used to work for Commodore's marketing department.Yeah, they're the ones who force the devs into not telling us anything about upcoming content. Aside from that I'm not sure I've ever seen or heard of them doing anything.
That went over all your heads now, didn't it? -
Quote:To vex you.So the patch added the Dual Pistols but I can't choose them when I'm making a new char?
what's the meaning with adding them if i can't use them?
Surely, the devs are making tons of new content that they will never allow us players to partake! They just want to torture us by showing us things we'll never be able to get. That's good business sense, you know! They're going to frolic around in all the new GR content and we'll only be able to look from afar. This will guarantee that we will keep giving them more money! -
Apparently you do! I think it's only fair. They're pretty challenging to take on, especially three at a time! Though I guess that's easier to do with a Master Mind.
Thanks again to everyone congratulating me. Cyborg Systre now has approximately 1,100,000,000. You know, it seems like it takes longer for a lower level hero to snag 100 million from the market. At least when you're going about it the way I am (I have to admit that I don't go logging in all of my marketing alts every day; some of them might languish for a about a week or so before I go back to check on them). Going from 1 billion to 1.1 billion didn't really seem to take very long at all. -
But... spending money you don't have on things you don't need is the American way!!!
How else would you explain the existence of Hummers?
We all must defend that, if we are true super heroes. Well, true American super heroes. -
Quote:On the official forums, anyway!Take a look at the stickies... Specifically http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?t=112831
Course, that was -way- back, but it's something at least in the past their lawyers considered akin to decompiling. Not something they can stop you from doing obviously, but something they can stop you from talking about. -
Well, you did see the explaination of that feature on their site, yes? The person to whom the "duck" is "passed" can choose to refuse. Or they can opt to pay only a partial amount. I believe the intent here was that a kid would have his or her parents pay it, and they'd pay their parents back... with money or chores or whatever.
I kind of think the idea here was that kids would have to learn how to make some extra money to pay for things like this on their own. But since they'd probably get paid in cash and they probably don't have a checking account, using something like Kwedit would actually be pretty convenient. -
Oh I'm afraid you're about a century too late for the whole "personal responsbility" argument. Usury used to be so frowned against that the punishments if you were found guilty of it were sometimes rather severe. The way people used to buy the big things (like a house or... well, cars didn't exist back then!) was to save up for it first, and then pay for it. Now, we get a loan from a bank or a credit union or somewhere else. We buy now and then pay later! And later. And later. And later...

I must admit, this would help those players who've wanted to get those bonus packs (or whatever they're called!) but haven't been able to, because they don't have or refuse to have (or link) a credit card.
Weren't there a few players here who'd complained about that before? I vaguely recall that happening when the Wedding Pack was introduced. There were several people who would pay for their game using time cards and they were a bit miffed that they would need a CC to pay for those things. -

For a couple of hours tonight (before and after Lost, of course), I almost got back the feeling this was a brand new game, playing a Dual Pistols/Devices blaster in Atlas Park. I hadn't played the low level game in so long, I'd forgotten how fun it was. I wasn't worrying about my slots or playing the market. I wasn't even caring that I was eventually sucking wind and had to wait for my endurance to recover before attacking any more. Just... none of that mattered!
I was in a pick-up group. We went into the sewer. Then we made our way to Perez Park. If I hadn't been so tired after that, I might have taken up their idea of running a Positron Task Force with them.
But yeah, that old magic of playing the game for the first time sort of came back to me for a little while. I dig that. This is cool. Thanks. -

Quote:What if Architect Entertainment purchased Wentworth's Consignments in some hostile takeover?Yes, but merging the markets wouldn't work thematicly!
Even though you could just as easily merge markets and use the excuse that the Black Market and Wentworth's were always the same market. Wentworth simply denies any connection it has with the Rogue isles black market.
hell, the devs could create some pretty cool missions based off this premise.
c'mon devs...
That way you could make an excuse to replace the Black Market trucks redside with WW buildings, as well. Or, move the markets onto the bottom floor of each AE building. -
I remember Adamastor conning green to my blaster, and being able to solo him for the badge.
I too stumbled upon Force Field Generators and Trees of Life in my lower levels, not knowing where they came from and not recognizing their faction!
I remember once seeing two or three higher level heroes in Steel Canyon in what looked like a protracted battle against several Sky Raiders. One of them was an energy blaster. I was too afraid to get too close though. I watched the epic battle from afar! -
All I know is I want a power that makes all my MM's robots combine into one giant robot, that my MM then climbs into. So I can go stomping around in a giant robot.

Quote:That very well may be it. I would have liked to have six-slotted all of my attacks, but I had to give slots to other just as important things.Sounds like the difference might be that most of my attacks are six-slotted and all of them contain EndRdx to some degree.
Quote:Bringing it back to the point, I don't think your example really demonstrates that IOs are needed, if that's the point you were getting at. The goalposts have shifted a lot since IOs were introduced, such that SO builds that were considered perfectly adequate a few years ago are now seen as weak because they don't overcome the inbuilt limitations of their archetypes. Your tank could slot 2xEndRdx in all of your tank's attacks to address his end issues, which would trade off a reduction in end usage for reduced damage or accuracy. Nowadays you can get IOs which will allow you to get the same benefit without the trade-off, which is great, but that doesn't mean that you need them. As has been mentioned many times, the game is still balanced around SO builds.
But I still beg to differ. The reason you need certain things in this game, is that you want certain results. I don't think there's some cut-and-dry division between "need" and "want" in this game. Mostly because, well... it's a game! You need this game about as much as you need a sports car.
