I named her "Tuuwaqatsi". It's a Hopi name for "Earth Mother".
  3. Well darn. Looks like I'll have to buy me some more points so I can make myself a Beast Master/Nature Affinity Mastermind. It's looking pretty cool!

EDIT: Or maybe a Plants/NA Controller? Hummm...

You could solo the Tyrant and most of the forumites would still be all "lol petless masterminds".

I tend to find that kind of groupthink a bit distasteful. Using gut reactions to short circuit rational thought, even in the face of actual evidence to the contrary does not really do anyone any kind of good. I'm rather glad that you're continuing to prove them wrong.

    Ascension

Prometheus, Ascension... I'm getting a distinct Stargate vibe here.
  8. I say a petless mastermind would be a viable option, if their three attacks were given more base damage and recharge, and if an MM's Supremacy inherent buffed those attacks just the same as it buffs minions.

    Items of power

I submit to all of you that since this game has experienced a significant build-up of power creep over the past two years (and maybe more), that any reasons for removing the Items of Power base items are now moot.

Now I know that the old Cathedral of Pain trial had some problems with it, so I'm not really suggesting that gets changed back or anything (though I guess the old rewards for winning it could be reinstated?). What I'm suggesting is that some new way of getting them could be introduce.

Like, say, some special contact or contacts somewhere, that have special story arcs related to those Items of Power. Probably you'd have to play them while in supergroup mode or something. Completing the final mission wins you a single IOP for you to plop somewhere in your base.

Good? Bad? What do you think?

EDIT: Oh yeah, and I don't mean to imply that base raids should be re-instated, either. I think that particular ship has sailed a long time ago. Like I said, power creep has made it so the buffs you get from these things is perhaps not as significant as it would have been long ago. At least for the non-unique ones.

EDIT 2: Thinking more about that, would it matter so much nowadays if the unique Items of Power were made not-unique as well?
  10. I'm not that fast of a player. For instance, I just barely yesterday played the hero-side doppelganger arcs! So I think the new content will keep me entertained for quite a while.

Indeed. I think the ugliness of her costume is deliberate. It's something that a teenager or young adult would throw together in an attempt to find their own identity. So... it makes sense!

Penny will develop a better sense of fashion and style eventually, one that is all her own. That sort of thing doesn't come right away for everyone!
  12. Setting up the max number of tripmines in one spot, then running off the aggro a few mobs to lead them back to the mines, and then watching a whole bunch of minions get thrown about while they go boom! I loved that.

  15. Can you take powers from both an Ancillary Pool and a Patron Power Pool on the same build? I didn't really find a straight answer about this on Paragon Wiki, though maybe I missed it.

I ask because I fancied the idea of taking Temp Invulnerability from Field Mastery, and also taking Scorpion Shield from Mace Mastery on a Mastermind.

I'll admit that I not only have all three attacks on my robots/traps MM, but I also slotted them each for full sets of Gladiator's Javelin, Apocalypse, and Armageddon into Pulse Rifle Blast, Pulse Rifle Burst and Photon Grenade; respectively. I even boosted them all to +5. Why? I just wanted to, really.

On the other side of things, I'm deliberately omitting all three of those attacks on my robots/forcefield MM, who only recently achieved level 34.
  17. My parents were too poor in the early 80's to afford any kind of computer at all. I had to steal my computer time from the C-64's that my school had.

Eventually I did get a computer of my own, but that was an Amiga 2000 and an entirely different experience!

I didn't join on in this event until the last minute. I ran it seven times last night before I got too tired and had to go to sleep.

I got the proc on the very first run, and I got all but one of the enhancements (I missed the acc/dam one).

From its very inception, I've seen Arachnos as nothing more than a tool for Recluse, an organisation he cares nothing for, and which he is literally throwing away on his own personal vendetta against the Statesman and against Paragon City in particular. Sooner or later, the coffers have to run dry and either Recluse institutes some kind of social reform to turn the Rogue Isles into a functioning state, or he bails and lets what's left of Arachnos fall apart.
Now there's an idea: ex-emperor Cole could escape custody and hide in the Rogue Isles. Some time later, he goes up against Lord Recluse and actually defeats him. He takes over Arachnos and turns it into something different. He becomes a "kinder, gentler" villain, and he begins to transform the Rogue Isles into a pristine thing of beauty, basically recreating what he lost on his Praetorian homeworld. He even manages to kick out such "riff-raff" as the Freakshow, The Council and even Longbow.. Suddenly, people actually want to live there! It certainly looks clean and feels safe, especially compared to Paragon City. At least it does on the surface.

Well, I dunno if anyone else would really go for that idea, tho.

Don't you see the beauty of it? It's so simple. You could put one up on almost every street corner.

Everywhere you look, you can be reminded to "Stop for Statesmen".

...sorry, what I meant to say was that back in the good old days, you'd know a level 50 had earned their levels honestly, through repeated Winter Lord kills--

...er, that is, back in the days where honest players played honestly, and got onto Werewolf Farms and killed the whole mission with stacked Trip Mines, then reset--

...basically, what I'm really trying to say is that at least powerleveling wasn't a problem in Beta.

...um, except for the times that the Devs would literally just hand out levels to people to test stuff. That was a bit of an issue.
You totally missed the CoT portals. They used to spew out demons without end, so long as you didn't destroy the portal itself. I recall that I once invited in something like 20 other players into one such mission (this was before you'd get kicked off the map for being dropped from team), and we spent the rest of the evening just killing the endless parade of demons for XP and inf (back then, you'd get the standard rewards for killing CoT demons spawned from portals).

The fun was still going on when I started to get sleepy. Instead of trying to shoo everyone out, I just left the game running and went to bed (this was before they put in the AFK timeout). When I woke up the next morning, I was at the login screen. I have no idea how long the fun managed to last! I hope it was for quite a while!

    Genesis?

I suppose the devs should get going with Project Genesis right away.
