Im not sure If I explained this well enough... Heres an example, Right now it costs 10 prestieg to place an arcane barrel in your base. The conversion price of Infl to prestige is currently 1 million influence for 2000 prestige. So that barrel would cost me 5000 infl. Personally, I think thats a little crazy. Now most(all?) items deleted refunds the cost to make them. So I never lose that 10 prestige, I just kinda tie it up for a while. My suggestion is that I would also be able to place that barrel for 10 infl, but not get the money refunded if it gets deleted. Prices would be much more reasonable. Moreover, it DOES take a while to get a decent base. I know, I have 2 sg's.
Heck, even 2 or 3 times the prestige cost would be fine, but not 500X.
Alternatively, we could ask the infl to prestige exchange rate be lowered to something a little less insane now that bases have been out for awhile. This would most likely be the easiest solution, but my idea makes them simultaneously more accesible and still have a cost. -
So I had an idea... What if we could buy base items with Infl, only in order to balance things, you do not get the infl back if the item is destroyed? this would allow smaller sg's to get a functional base earlier but still encourage playing in sg mode to allow for experimenting with base designs.

I would change the way missions are given. You would street sweep till you got a tip, which would lead to a mission. There would be a chance that the mission would be a story arc. In story arcs, you would rescue certain NPC's who would later appear in the game as contacts. The contacts would have unique arcs that you could only get through that contact. Zones would be more like striga or croatoa, where the arcs are contained in that zone and they tell a story about it.
I would also expand the power pool system, so that:
1) It would have a greater range of non combat powers, ie hacking/detective worki
2) each pool could have more than 4 powers.
They would be set up along the same tiers we have now, there would just be more options in some of the tiers. For example, there would be some sort of "Weapons" or "gadgets" pool, where the first tier would have things like a baseball bat attack, or a pistol attack. The second tier would have something like grenades of various flavors(stun, damage, smoke, etc) and the third tier would have stuff like body armor.
I would have Stances like that other game.
I would have zones make more sense. For example, in CoH certain zones connect to each other. But in general, it almost never makes sense to use those connections because the train is much faster. The ideal would be that either would offer advantages. Also, the city would be setup to look more like a real city similar to how that other game has their main city setup.
I would have underwater areas.
I think I would like to see the inventory system overhauled. So as an example, you could craft temp powers and get a item to put in your inventory. You could trade these temp powers with others, and only hold a finite amount of them on you. Sort of like how WoW does inventions. I would kep the enhancement system as is for the most part, but I would shift the levels you get stuff, so that you would use TO's till the teens, DO's till the late 20's and SO's after that. I believe this is how the game was originally setup, but then they decided to let us get (some)SO's at 20 and later all SO's at 20
I think for excort missions, the NPC's wouldnt always follow you. Depending on the NPC they would go in set routes. -
Why be a criminal? How much do you think billionares would pay to fly like superman for an afternoon? I would be a rich man without having to do much for it. Plus I would be able to fly.
-
The Ability to create and maintain portals. As in instant travel from one place to another. I wold then setup a business to allow the transport of goods and people fast and cheap.
Heres a better question, What CoH/CoV power would you want? I would go with group fly. -
Title says it all really. It would be nice if there were some more magical/nature/science monster options. Like DE pets, or Redcaps, or something.

Rather than adding WW buildings to every zone, what I would rather them do is add new stores that connect to the WW system. Use the interior maps for the pawn and jewelry shops. Just add doors to where existing shops are, and your set.

Quote:Unless I misunderstand you, we have had this since around issue2. Most people simply do not use it.I'm a list-maker so this will be tough to keep to 5.
5) Expand the LFG to include regular teaming. Players looking to form a team can flag themselves as such and then put in a level range or a specific even like the ITF. Players looking for a team or an event flag themselves as such and then go about their buisness. If something opens up and the prospective teammate is in a mission they get a window asking them if they want to leave and join the event. We should be WAY past broadcasting for a team or members in this game. We have 400 emotes and yet our Team Search sux.
As for suggestions...
Create a new base item, or maybe re-puropse an existing item to be a base salvage computer. Have it work like a mini WW. Link it to all the salvage racks, enhancement tables and maybe even insp bins. Also, change all the bins to allow exemptions if sg's want people to have personal bins. Its annoying to come back from a break and forget half the crap stored in your base. -
I just alt-tab to firefox and browse the web for a few minutes. Doesnt seem like a big deal to me.

I think it would be a good idea if we could continually craft temp powers even if we already have one crafted. Crafting more should just add more charges onto the power you have. That way if I want to have grenades, I can take the time and craft a ton of them so I can use them freely.

not really, since they would access optional alternative routes, or locate optional side missions. Sure if you want to get the max possible xp or the fastest possible route they could be considered important, but most people would be fine taking the standard route, or having someone stealth and tp. Having them power pool based allows for greater range of character concept, ie batman as a scrapper with detective power pool vs dick tracy as a blaster with detective powerpool, and it frees up the "must have x" archetype.

I agree that the maps need work. Honestly, so do the power pools. Why not do both and introduce new power pool powers that deal with things on the maps. In other games they have things like traps, locked doors that players with specialized skills are required to access. So why not have a hacker/lockpick power pool to go along with new maps that have alternate(shorter) routes that are dangerously trapped or locked? Why not have a new detective power pool that makes glowing clues(like for example, foot prints) show up that leads to a side mission( would work great on outdoor maps).
Since The fitness pool has become inherent, that means everyone basically has three new powers. Why not give us something to do with those powers. One of my favorite parts of DDO is playing a rogue because I can deal with locked doors and traps, so its more tacticle than just running through and killing stuff. -
no, we are simply one of the few species to eliminate most of our natural predators. Deer will breed till they eat all there is to eat and start to die off from starvation. Non-native species wipe out native species all the time. Humans are really only unique in that we are smart enough to defeat what would normally check our population.

Doesnt shard come from ultima online? I think i recall reading that the opening cutscene had some villan smashing reality or a reality gem or something and lots of differnt shards occuring as a result... or something like that

One use I can think of for it is making costumes and stuff like that. Make a mold then spray the stuff overtop in layers, maybe top with liquid latex to waterpoof/add strength and flexibility...
Granted its never going to match a talented tailor, but for someone who isnt experienced in it... -
I want a new travel power. Rocket pack. It would basically be the jump jet as a toggle with more forward momentum and the option to have a rocket animate with the power. So it would be a quasi flight where you cannot stop moving without falling, and your control is greatly reduced to mostly straight lines.
Granted, this probably wouldnt appeal to most people, but i stil think it would be fun. -
Quote:No doubt that there are better options, Im just saying that in and of itself, that powerset isnt all that bad. I mean compare to something like supervomit, or acidsweat, it shouldnt even be on the list.Collosus, Captain Marvel, and the Green Lantern are all super powered characters with an off switch that works a heck of alot better. I'd rather have my powers shut off when I turned them off at will, yelled a secret word or pulled the ring off my own finger. Don't get me wrong those are by no means the worst defects to put up with to achieve power but there's far better packages that get the same perks.

Actually, if you think about it, having supermans powers until you see a specific color is an awesome ability. Wanna have sex without killing a normal human? Red goggles. Wanna save the world? Yellow goggles. Wanna walk around without having to worry about accidentally destroying something due to your enormous strength? Red goggles. Wanna zip over to Europe for dinner? Yellow goggles.

I have either a -recharge proc(i think) in my willpower scrappers one toggle that does -tohit. It procs constantly.

Quote:Not sure what you mean about this... my whole point is that I dont want to level up to fast for my solo content later. So I dont care if the team outlevels me, its only a pug.Not really needed.
You would still ;
1) go slower than your team, while being SSK'd up that all that would matter is slots and powers.
Quote:2) reach a point where you would want to turn XP off when things would lock out to you. -
I dont really pay attention to inf anymore. I dont bother buying enhancements till at least in the 20's and i can transfer any amount i want from my alts, not to mention my communal io bins in my sg base. So no, inf is not really a good reward.
-
It would be really nice if there was a slider for xp instead of an on/off switch. This really becomes apparent in praetoria. I want to team with people, but dont want to outlevel my contacts(and im only doing one story chain per character) Now I could just turn my xp off, but that would eliminate one of the fun parts of teaming. Instead, it would be nice if I could just lower my xp down to what I thought was good.

Quote:The thing about computers, is that the devs can have a non-released version of a zone that they can work on while we play on the live version of the zone. So if they were to re-work a zone(and in fact have reworked zones in the past) there would be no need to reroute us anywhere. The when the zone is ready, everyone downloads a new patch, and poof! zone is differnt.
Now, I am not a computer programmer or game designer so to change buildings and environments might be a big task? That is why I would suggest to do it in sections. For example, maybe take one zone at a time and revamp that environment, buildings trees you name it, all of it. Until that zone is complete, people will be routed elsewhere for missions or contacts that were in that zone. Maybe in 2004 NCSoft didn't have all the bells and whistles at their disposal. It is now 2010. Technology has advanced and as Captain Pickard from the Star Ship Enterprise would say, Make it so!
