The thing I found interesting, that I think people might have glanced past... when Positron asked "Can I tell them about no more war walls" and someone told him "no", I don't think he was just talking about Praetoria....
I'm thinking that there might not be an actual reason to have war walls anymore. I mean, the Rikti always get in, and if they set each area to zone you into another zone... there really would be no need for them anymore. -
Just got home from PAX. Time for a nap then to the meet and greet.
I'm surprised no one mentioned the biggest news of all:
CLOWN SUMMONING...
is never, ever going to happen!

They had better let Arbiter Fabulous in or else I'm going to make a phone call to Wretch. (Lord Recluse and Ghost Widow are off vacationing in Rio so Wretch is in charge of Arachnos. No clue why they chose him...)

I'll try to get, lol, screenshots. But I assume you'll be watching the Jillian's security footage on the 10 o'clock news

Quote:FYI, I wasn't knocking the site. I'm just saying, and you might not have an issue because you are "net savy," there were millions of people infected with trojans over the past 3 months from rogue advertising that had malicious coding embedded into the rotating advertising. Proboards, NYtimes.com, Curse Networks, etc. were all places that unknowingly had this rogue advertisement in their rotating ad stock.Firefox + Adblocker Plus. Learn it, Live it, Love it.
Or if you're REALLY Paranoid... there's always hidemy(insert 3 letter word for donkey here).com
Like I said, just because you are "net savy" doesn't mean that your way of staying protected will affect everyone. The first rule of running your own site, be it on your own server or on a free server: take all of your clients into consideration. Don't assume that what you have in front of you is the same thing that everyone else has. Don't assume that your method of keeping yourself clean of security issues on your own website is something that others will be doing. Turning a blind eye to the safety of others, just to save face, is something that you shouldn't do with a smile.
The second rule of running your own site: don't tell people they need additional software or precautions to visting your site. Telling people to download a new browser and to insert another program into it only says, "I don't care if you have a problem. This is the only solution. Even I use it to avoid something that I may not want, but don't care enough to concern myself with."
If you really want Paragon Unleashed to survive and be a mainstay, you need to put 110% into it and not rely (and hope) that the company you are using will do the worrying for you.
I suggest you find a web host and register a domain name. Once you do, set up your own software (phpbb, vbulletin, Ubbforums, etc.) that you can control 100% so you can make the constant security updates that are needed to keep yourself, and your visitors safe. Once you have total control of what appears on the site, and what is running in the background, then you can breathe a sigh of relief and accomplishment.
I hope that you take what I say into consideration. I know what I'm talking about because I've been hosting and running my own forums for close to 15 years. Once you learn how to take control of your forums security, then everything becomes that much easier. And don't think that if a problem occurs that Proboards is going to do much for you, since it's a free service. One more, or less, free account to them isn't going to matter much.
I want anything CoH related to succeed. It in turn helps the game succeed. So I hope that you guys get a great following. But I also hope that you put more time and effort into the forum so that every visitor walks away happy and virus/trogan/keylogger free. -
Anything Proboards and I'm steering clear from it. Proboards forums means that you have no control over what tracking software the company puts in without your knowledge.
Also, I assume that you have ads disabled by paying their ad-removal fee? Well, let's hope that the fee will continue to be paid since you have no control over the ads placed. So the chances of an ad having malicious scripting, or having ads that offer powerleveling or inf. purchasing, is not all that far fetched.
I tend to stay clear from any websites that offer people free software that you have no control over the backend. -
At Herocon, the NVidia rep. said that CoH will, eventually, be 3D Vision capable. But, to show people how it worked, they used Aion as the demo game.
And I must say, if CoH with 3D Vision looks as good as Aion in 3D, I'll never leave the PC again. -
The only enhancements that do not "drop", redside, are Titan Enhancements, Hydra, and the low level SO's that are only available from the Yinn Store in Faultline. I believe the Yinn SO's are level 13-20'ish. Like PumBumbler mentioned, some were available redside due to a cross server issue. As far as I know, there are no exclusive redside enhancements.

Have a Happy 77th Birthday, ole sport!

Today I decided to log into some alts that I haven't played in ages. I can't stand seeing alts that haven't been logged into past 50 days, so I logged in everyone.
Over the past week I've spent close to 10 billion inf on purple sets for my DP Corruptor and Warshade, so I thought I should check to see if any alts had anything of value I could pawn for just one more purple set.
So far, after logging in my alts I've found an extra 1.6 billion on an alt I transferred to Freedom ages ago. I found a full set of Ragnarok's as well as 2 full sets of Fortunata Hypnosis. One alt's enhancement tray was filled with level 50 Microfilament Exposure HO's. To top it all off, I found a level 50 Fury of the Gladiator: Chance for -Res on an alt. I have no idea how that alt got it as it hadn't been logged in since around Christmas.
The thing I find the most amazing... on an alt that's been sitting on Triumph for over 700 days, I found an Iron Will enhancement that I have no recollection of ever getting on him.
I feel like buying some scratch tickets! -
There are also "state" regulations that would would have to get involved. Yes, even for a videogame that would be giving away non-monitary prizes. States like Rhode Island have some pretty strange/strict gambling laws.
It's why NCsoft adds the little "excluding Rhode Island" when it comes to giveaways and contests. Way too many problems when it comes to explaining to the state government what the contest is, what it's about, what it's worth, and what can be taxed on it. :/ -
Good luck, Niv. I wish nothing but the best for you.

Original Poison/Merc MM - Arachnos Commander
5177 hours
Original SS/Inv Tank - Kerse
1785 hours
Total hours between these alts: 6962 hours / 290 days
Not to mention the 37 level 50's I rarely play and the 20+ level 15-40's I still have to level.

Happy Birthday Andra!

Quote:Actually, you weren't looking hard enough....
Now our lead dev is War Witch who isn't even in the image!
This is obviously symbolism meant to imply the fading interest in the game and the loss of interest by the devs. This is a message by the devs themselves that they no longer care about the game! The game will be shut down within the year, and this is PROOF! DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!
Yup... everything's gonna be just fine.

Quote:The reason that I reused certain costume pieces was because of the story behind the characters. Regardless of the contest, these costumes are partially part of the story, which when it's at 100% you'll see (if you play the arc.)Just so this doesn't detract from the participants and entries.
I don't consider the costumes the same. If I were to take that stance, I could invalidate a lot of costumes based on the fact they look so much like ones that were posted earlier. There are many costumes that look alike. Sometimes it is the small details that may elevate one above another.
The characters I made, I feel, best represent a realistic Freedom Phalanx. Now, in any major orginazation (civilian or military), there is always some uniformity.
Now, take for example the real story of Bastion/Citadel. He was rescued, by Positron, from Crey. He was reprogrammed and allowed to have "free will." Now, in my story, it's a "re-write" of the Freedom Phalanx. Bastion/Citadel was freed from Crey, but Positron didn't give him free will. He was remade into Positron's image. (Which is noticable when Citadel's mask is removed.)
If, for Numina and Sister Psyche, I offended you by having them wear the same pants and boots, I apologize. But, the reason is still there. Just like the connection that Aurora Borealis and Sister Psyche had in game lore, my version of Psyche and Numina also have a connection. That's a key point to my arc, so I won't go into detail with it.
But, like Fury said, this contest was based on our own interpretations of what we think the Freedom Phalanx should look like. This is just my take on it. -
And to round off my versions of the Freedom Phalanx:
NUMINA
CITADEL
And just to fill... :P
MASKLESS STATESMAN
And, I felt that it was time to give someone a much needed promotion. He's done a lot to help us all and showed us that we had what it took to step into Paragon and defend it. He's definately deserving of a spot within the Freedom Phalanx...

Whatever it is, it has to be a lead into GoRo. Althought War Witch said there won't be a Nemesis type system in i17, she didn't say there wouldn't be one in GoRo.
I was thinking, what if the enemy we faced was just a mirror of everything around it? That it wouldn't be an enemy that was a specific to you, but to everyone on your team. Whatever player it targets, it takes on the Mirror Image of the target.
As was said before, Cut-Scenes used in arcs are there for the game to scan and load data based on the team in it. It scans to see how many players there are, and adjusts itself so that you're fighting an amount of enemies based on the team.
Well... what if a cut-scene was used to scan the team, see what builds people have, and load them into a queue, so that when you are targeted by the enemy, it takes on your image and hits you with an attack that you have. It targets another player, takes on that mirror image, and attacks that player with something from that powerset?
Who's to say that the technology isn't there? Well, the Devs. But, with what we've been getting over the past two years, and what we know we're getting in i17, I don't doubt that much can NOT be done in CoH. -
i believe we have a winner
If you did, grats!

Quote:Ty kindly. These are costumes I'm using for an upcoming AE arc that features a "rebirth" of the Phalanx. Let's just say they are less than super in the arcCommander's DO look good....but why does Statesman have Pistols? Or any of them for that matter...
None the less, great looks. Poses really work well for those costumes
