  1. Dark Blast/Devices Blaster.

Fast snipe in Moonbeam, and you can put the proc in Umbral Torrent to have good AoE with less annoyance, since Tenebrous Tentacles doesn't prevent KB.

Oh, and you get a self heal to go with the good amount of regen Field Operative will give you.

Get a decent amount of ranged defense and you can be quite the damage machine.

Depends on the attack in question.

If it is a long recharge attack, slot another recharge in it. If it is a short recharge attack, I usually go with end reduction.

If it doesn't seem to fit either of those criteria, throw another damage in if you don't already have 3 in it.

You know your character better than we do, so you are the best judge of what it needs more of.
  3. So it will be better slotted into Aim or Build Up after the proc change then.
  4. One accuracy is generally sufficient.

The only time you need more than that is if you are fighting a lot of enemies that are higher level than you, and to be honest, with an SO Fire/Fire brute....that would be an exercise in frustration anyway.

    I'll explain.

One accuracy adds around 33% enhancement to the power it is in.

Base To-Hit on most powers is 75%.

33% of 75 is 25, so you are adding an additional 25% to your base To-Hit of 75%.

That would put you at 100% To-Hit, which is impossible due to the fact that it will always cap at 95% no matter how much more you add.

    Not seeing the issue here.
I don't care at all.....until it leads to them playing in such a way on my team that makes the game less fun for me.

I don't mind answering questions and helping people, but it gets REALLY old telling people things they should have figured out by accident by level 30. Repeatedly.

It is also aggravating dealing with players who do things like run into the next room and taunt a mob while playing a brute with only one power from their secondary. And then they either drag that mob back to the team that isn't ready for them, or die in that room and complain that the healer didn't follow them (even if there is no healer on the team).

I am aware that I have the option to quit or kick people, and I exercise both on occasion. It just bugs me that I feel the need to because necessity of doing either is avoidable. It's not a new issue by any means, it just seems to be more common now that DFB exists.

I'm of the opinion that DFB, the way it was implemented, was a mistake. It should have a cut-off point beyond which you cannot use it for easy leveling. Veteran players use it to get past the early levels, but how many of them use it to get all the way to 50? New players frequently get to level 50 without ever leaving Atlas Park, and it's worse than AE missions because they never learn how their powers acquired past level 10 work.

Now, do I rage against people repeatedly running DFBs in-game? Not at all, I let them do their thing. But when I team with those people it irritates me when they do things they should have learned not to a long time ago (in leveling terms).

    Hello Pinnacle

    Sup Dood.

    Welcome back!

I'm not on as much these days, but when I am I'm still down for pretty much whatever.
  7. I emphasize E/N over S/L myself.

    Reasons:

-WP has decent S/L resistance already, but very little in the way of E/N resistance. If you focus on S/L first, you're going to find that pure Energy or Negative Damage is going to tear you up.

-WP has no End Drain resistance, and the majority of pure Energy attacks come with End Drain as a secondary component.

-Heightened Senses gives you a good amount of E/N defense to start with, and very little S/L defense. It is easier to build up E/N defense early and work on S/L defense later.
  8. Oh, I overlooked something that was mentioned in the thread Emjack started.

You don't have any KB protection.

The easiest way to get it is via IOs, but that isn't an option for you.

The way you can do it is:

-Replace Air Superiority with Combat Jumping and Super Jump.
    -Replace something with Acrobatics.

Alternately, you can get a few Paragon Points and wait until a defense or resistance set shows up in the Market. Storebought IOs are different from in-game IOs. Anyone can use the Storebought ones, while only VIPs or people with enough Reward Tokens can use in-game ones.

Also, you mentioned that you can't afford to go VIP, which is $15 a month.

Can you afford $4 a month? Because you can get IO and Auction House licenses for only $2 a month each. They are 160 paragon Points each and let you use IOs and the auction house for 30 days at a time. You can buy $5 worth of points at a time and have the licenses, which will help you greatly in building your brute. If you do that for a long enough period of time, you will eventually earn enough Reward Tokens to unlock IOs and the Auction House permanently.

I was thinking about Bruising as a concept, and perhaps it's just not developed enough yet to have the effect they were hoping.

There are a ton of sets out there that have -Defense, but not a whole lot with serious -Resistance (outside of sonic and some debuff sets).

If Brutes get stackable Fury to help them generate damage, why not give Tanks a stackable 5 to 10% -Resistance on their attacks to compensate? Throw each on a 10 or 15 second timer, and you could maybe stack up to -50% resistance on a single target, or -20% to -30% on average with AoE damage.

Thematically this makes sense, as Tanks are the "big guys who hit really hard yet slowly". It would make sense that they could beat the crap out of a robot and eventually rip their way through it by simple sheer force.

Also, this would make them suddenly VERY desirable on teams, as not only can they tank like a Brute or some Scrappers, but a single Tanker will be adding serious -Resistance debuffs to the team's capabilities. A single Tanker to soften up some +4s would let the Blasters, Scrappers, et cetera with him wreak havoc.

I honestly think a stackable SOMETHING along these lines could work. It works so well for Brutes, why not extrapolate a different flavor of that concept for Tankers?
    Good idea in concept.

50% might be going to far though. Don't want to have Sonic Blast characters upset that someone with 30 times the survivability can do their gimmick as good or better than them.

Stacking up to 30% would probably be good. And certain sets, like Street Justice, have -res already, so they would get a little more.
  10. ClawsandEffect

    Incarnate Tank

I'd put the ATO set in Scorch.

It's a PPM formula for determining how often it fires, but it will be active more consistently in a power you use more often.

If you're going to post a Mids build in the forums.....at least type a few sentences explaining WHY you're posting it. Making people guess is going to lead to a lot of views and 0 replies, just like you had before I typed this out.
  13. Ninja Run is pretty cheap.

I suppose you could fit a travel power in there as part of the "feel free to adjust for personal taste"

Between Ouroboros, all the trains going to all locations, and the new TUNNEL system, you hardly ever need to cross zones to get to other zones anymore. The most you have to do is travel from wherever your travel mode spits you out to the mission door.

I know it used to work but seemed to stop just recently.

    Anyone else notice this?

I bugged it, just got standard boilerplate in response.
I'm not so sure it should be suppressing.

    Think about it:

You have a power that is a significant part of your defense that suppresses a power that gives you more recharge and taunts your enemies.

It doesn't make sense for those two powers to be mutually exclusive. In order to have a working taunt aura you have to make yourself less survivable by turning off a defense power?

And also: Cloak of Darkness does not suppress Death Shroud, Cloak of Fear or Oppressive Gloom in the Dark Armor set. Evidence that what you found here is working as intended. If it was suppressing before, THAT would have been the bug.

The only stealth power that suppresses offensive toggle powers is Hide. And it is the only one that does because Stalkers kind of need Hide in order to be played properly.
  15. My only issue is when I get players that leveled up in DFB on my team in high level content that have no idea what their powers actually DO.

You know, because they've never used a power available beyond level 10 before.

A lot of people level up in it and are perfectly competent players, but just as many have learned absolutely nothing about the game and have terribly built characters.

I can usually tell a DFB leveled character, especially if it is a melee character. All the attacks, 3 or more travel powers, and fewer than 3 powers from their secondary means it is a safe bet it was leveled in DFB. The sad part is people with characters like that usually don't understand WHY they keep getting killed in other content when they are godlike on DFBs.

I also find it highly amusing when they insist they know everything about the game because they have a level 50, and that I must be a noob because my character is only level 17.

I know it's not a new phenomenon, there will always be clueless idiots PLing and learning nothing. This one is just more in your face than other methods, and available to everyone.

I don't care if people want to PL. But, for the love of Pete, make an effort to learn why you keep dying in other content instead of blaming your teammates for your repeated deaths.

    Yes.

Open your Mids' and look at the top left part of the window. In between File and Options you'll see a tab that says Import/Export. Click on "Short Forum Export"

Open that and a screen will pop up with a couple check boxes on it and some color options. Click on "Export Data Chunk as well as Data Link" and click on Export Now. It will copy the build to your clip board and you just have to right-click on your forum post and choose "Paste"

It will give you a post that looks like this:

The part at the bottom is a Data Chunk, you can copy/paste that into Mids to see a build if the person posting it does not want to make a huge post that lists all the powers.

    Hope that helps.
  17. Ask in the PvP section.

Psychic Blast Blasters seem to be popular. If you want to go melee it's difficult to beat a Regen.

Unlike a lot of games, there really isn't ONE build that is the best. You could get 5 different answers to that question, and all 5 would have merit to why they are the best.

Also, player skill and skill at building your character have a lot to do with it. Even if there WERE one top build, just rolling that isn't going to make you automatically awesome at PvP. You'll still get owned by people who can build or play better.
  18. Your problem is that you have 35% resistance to most damage types and 0% defense to anything.

That means you are getting hit with 50% of all attacks being fired at you, and only resisting 35% of those hits.

There are a couple things you can do, but it will require a respec. You want to take:Tough, Weave, Combat Jumping, and maybe Maneuvers. That will get you to about 15% defense. It's not a lot of defense, but it's better than 0%.

Fiery Aura is an offensively-oriented secondary with a lot of damage potential in it through Burn and Fiery Embrace. The trade off for that is it is not as sturdy as other secondaries, and can be downright squishy at times.

Look into the Brute Archetype Origine enhancement. You can get them through the market, and they are available to all players, not just VIPs. splitting the set between 2 powers will give you a little more Smashing and Lethal defense to work with (the 2 most common damage types)

There's nothing actually wrong with your build, you're just discovering the price Fiery Aura pays for its higher amount of offense.
  19. Here's what I came up with.

    The highlights:

    -Softcapped S/L defense
    -Perma Dull Pain
-687% passive regen (Could have gotten higher, but didn't stress about it too much)
    -Decent S/L resistance.

I put Barb Swipe in it because it is getting buffed in the near future. According to the dev that mentioned it, it will be getting a sub 1 second animation time, with no other changes. Lunge is getting buffed as well.

I also used Enhancement Boosters in everything I slotted. Obviously you don't need them in procs, but changing the whole build at once is easier than doing them one at a time. That's where the real money will come in, as you can get all the Boosters you need in the Paragon Market.

Your stated budget SHOULD be enough to fund this build for you. And obviously, you can change anything you like to fit your personal taste. I did not build this for exemping, so if you would like to do so you will want to put the powers in a different order.

    Here's the build:

It wasn't practical in game design terms, and a shield throw power would probably have violated one of Marvel's trademarks.

Unless you can run a search and find even so much as one character other than Captain America that has ever used a thrown shield as a weapon. I searched at least 25 pages deep in Google and found none.

Since Cap is the only character out there who does that, it's a safe bet that Marvel has it trademarked and would throw a fit if we had added a power like that. A shield charge or shield bash is one thing, those are common maneuvers with a shield, throwing a shield is a gimmick of one specific character and would probably be off limits.
  21. ClawsandEffect

    Genesis?

It is going to be a new walk power that shuts off any dance emotes you have active.

Or a massive zone-wide confuse power.
  22. Brute gets the edge due to higher HP base and cap.

Other than the higher HP, Scrapper and Brute WP are identical. But, since so much of WP's schtick is high amounts of regen, it is better on a Brute.
  23. I would LOVE to have an electric guitar option for War Mace.
  24. ClawsandEffect

    DFB and contacts

    It would help.

I've nearly facepalmed myself into oblivion when recruiting for a Positron TF.

I ask people if they're interested in a Posi TF and get some responses. I invite interested people to team and tell them to meet in Steel Canyon.

4 (FOUR) of them respond with: "Where's that?"

I check my team's levels......and all of them are above level 30. Guess how they got there?

Okay, good to know. Spending real dollars shouldn't be necessary in this case.

It will really help if you could post what you have so far. It wouldn't help much if I were to post a build and you already have a better one (that and I dislike posting builds before the person I'm posting them for has tried it themselves)
